It will never not be absolutely fucking sickening to me that the cost of implementing the measures necessary to prevent climate change from killing us all in 50 years, the financial cost of saving the lives of everyone and everything on Earth, is always, always part of the discussion. What cost!! What fucking cost could there be that is too high for preventing the world from burning?? Are you fucking insane?? What's wrong with you?? "Oh we can't do that, it's too expensive :((((" More expensive than every living thing on the planet suffering and dying??

Regardless, it's hardly as if the money isn't there, we know who has it.

Any one of these ghoulish cunts could solve all of our problems in a heartbeat and instantly become the most beloved person in history, but every single one of them wakes up every day and decides not to, and apparently we're supposed to just be fine with it. We're supposed to just shrug and be like OH IT'S THEIR MONEY? THAT'S ALRIGHT THEN.

Well, I'm not. I'm not fine with it, I've never been fine with it, and I suspect that you haven't either, dear reader. I am not "fine" with the rest of us dying a slow, painful, miserable collective death because of this shitty little handful of shrewhearted fucks.

I don't care what you do. Just do something. Write to somebody, call them or show up at their offices, attend a protest, whatever.

I don't usually carry any kind of bag, or it's just a tiny petit sac type thing, so the small aubergine will have to do for now. And when I have my backpack with me, it's mostly empty. I always have hand sanitizer and some meds on me, maybe an umbrella. Wallet & car keys naturally and a cola drink to go.

And then the dinner scene is one of those situations where things turn so unbelievably bad so quickly that it becomes absurd. One moment you're all having the most normal time at the table, and the next you're covered in blood and there's a worm that dug its way out of your coworker and now it's SoMeWhErE?? on the ship. Good luck. I'm emotionally burnt out now. Would probably laugh at this point tbh.

The way they approached the med bay when they didn't know where the facehugger went was gold. Who amongst us has not done that scared, alert tiptoe walk into a room that might have a pest in it?

And the almost comedic timing where they shot Kane's body out of the airlock. How quick and easy they did that as soon as the situation deteriorated in contrast to how they went against every safety regulation for an hour before. "Any words?" Fuck no, two quick shots and that thang is doing somersaults in space.

I have so much respect and awe for Ellen Ripley. She lets herself despair a bit, but she quickly reels it back in when it's time to run or do some computer stuff. I want that kind of presence and control. She is in the same category of fictional people as Kim Kitsuragi, in my eyes. Cool, collected under pressure.

What a wonderful movie. I loved the Nostromo and its vents, I loved the visual class divide between the cushioned walls of the officer quarters vs raw machinery of the lower decks, the actors performances, the video and audio distortion and technical limitations, the "turning into eggs" scene and the "sleepy" xenomorph. Everyone did their best and even with its faults, it's a peak experience.
