GESTURE  WAS  MORE  THAN  UNEXPECTED  ,  but those were also the ones that meant all the more.  Mera’s taken aback for long  ,  Danny’s kindness seems to surprise her every time  ;  perhaps she’s been wrong about the surfacers  ...  ?  He most certainly stood out  ,  his genuine kindness and care.  Long had she despised them and what the surface world did to their oceans  ,  but she’d come to realize maybe not all were bad  ?

MERA  EXTENDED  HER  HAND  to receive the gift  ,  hues already closely studied the colors and details of the shell   --   she’d always loved shells.  Not one was like another  ,  all of them unique.

ARMS   WERE   CROSSED   OVER   HER   CHEST  ,  defensive  as  always  ,  ocean  orbs  gazed  out  through  the  tall  windows.   But  attention  was  drawn  away  as  soon  as  his  words  sounded  ,  now  coming  to  meet  with  the  God  of  Thunder.

THUNDER   RUMBLED   OUTSIDE  as  it  had  so  for  hours  ,  turning  their  afternoon  together to  a  ‘ night in ‘.   Mera’s  chin  raised  in  anticipation  once  Steve  returned  from  the  kitchen  ,  a  tub  of  ice  cream  and  two  spoons  in  hand.   She  lifted  the  blanket  to  welcome  him  back  into  its  warmth  and  comfort  ,  she’d  lost  track  of  time  ,  but  Mera  would  bet  they’d  been  cuddled  up  on  the  couch  for  hours.

COUCH   SUNK   A   LITTLE   UNDER   HIM  and  Xebelian  once  again  scooted  in  close  ,  Steve’s  arm  already  draped  around  her  shoulders.  Spoon  in  her  hand  picked  at  the  tub’s  content  as  if  trying  to  determine  if  it  was  truly  edible.
