Thought about this whole thing again. The other day I actually got to buy the volume where Saitama and Cosmic Garou fight and I made a small collage of most of the times Saitama holds Genos' core close to him.

And I think what added the more salt to Saitama's wound is that not too long ago he had also held Genos' core under a completely different context. And it's such a different grasp, too.

#first by just his finger pads and then his whole hand.. yea represents how much he clings to Genos in a way #life is a cruel joke #i think of it as how much he allows other to see vs how he really does #day to day life? fine whatever #but when the time comes he'll never let go

And if you look closely enough at Genos' core where he stares in wonderment at Saitama's hand, you can see there seems to be a bunch of leaves on his core and it almost looks like he's sprouting a new tree, roots and all, symbolising growth and new beginning for Genos who was self-destructive before and then Saitama validates him choosing to live instead. 😭
