It really depends on the Ed we’re taking about here. Because let’s be honest:

BTAS would be frustrated, but also keeps trying, looking more and more like a sad, kicked puppy every time he gets rejected because he doesn’t get that his ego is the problem

I think Arkham would just give up, because what’s the point of being with someone who can’t fully appreciate his genius?

Zero Year gets pissed, and, uh… it’s not going to be pretty, he might pull a Jervis, or way worse

Jonathan Crane

He’ll desperately try not to show it, but he gets terribly flustered every time

He tells his S/O not to do it in public, because he’s got a reputation to maintain after all

But he obviously loves it whenever his S/O uses a pet name, and his S/O knows it

It makes him feel cared for, and he really appreciates it

His favourite ones that they use are pumpkin or sweetheart

Victor Fries

Every single time his S/O uses a pet name, he smiles and it’s SO SOFT BECAUSE HE'S IN LOVE

Victor is basically beaming, in contrast to his usually cold and stoic persona

The man is mostly very sad a lot of the time, so his reactions to the pet names are moments to be treasured

He's just so damn precious

Jonathan Crane:

How does this even start? I can’t imagine Jon getting together with an old bully unless it’s part of some murder plot to take revenge

If the bully was one around the Sherry Squires arc, Jonathan has probably already killed them, so that’s out of the question

If it was one of his co-workers, they’re probably either dead or gassed beyond rational thought, so that’s out of the question

If it was one that was when he was far younger, however, there is half an atom of a chance Jon might be willing to try out the relationship

He’d never fully trust them, and the relationship will most definitely be rocky and possibly a toxic one, but the chance is still there, I suppose

They were children and they didn’t know better, and everyone should have a chance for a redemption

Jon takes this into consideration when with the third type, but also as stated, chances the relationship will actually work out is infinitesimal

Edward Nygma:

All the more chance for him to show off just how much better he is than them now!

It’s… less of a relationship, and more just Ed bragging about his achievements and superiority non-stop whilst his ex-bully is forced to listen or willingly does so

Y’know, he could’ve just done the same thing with a trap, but it’s less ironic and Ed lives for that irony

But, also as mentioned before, it’s not really a relationship… I don’t know how to describe how I’m thinking about it in my head

It’s like, Ed has a bunch of insecurities planted in him by this ex-bully now-S/O, and Ed is trying to shake off that insecurity by constantly proving that the things he was mocked about wasn’t something to be underestimated

But at the same time, he’s so focused on doing so that the relationship just… isn’t a relationship anymore

Jervis Tetch:

Out of the three, he’s probably the least bothered about all of the bullying stuff

He’s still not okay with it, and it’s definitely going to be uncomfortable at times when the topic is brought up, but for the most part, Jerv is willing to give them a chance if they’re willing to give him one

He is a high-profile villain who has attempted multiple murder, so…?

Besides, they’ve amended their ways, right? They’ve learned their lessons and changed for the better! Something he’s still having trouble doing…

Meets them at a little cafe, y’say? Perfect! He runs away

He’s the man who put them through 3 lifetimes worth of trauma, and this is Gotham

Even if they weren’t still dealing with the mental repercussions from his experiments, living in Gotham is enough of a reason to carry a glock around everywhere

Jonathan would prefer to not get shot; granted, he gets his ribs broken regularly anyway, but it would probably still hurt like hell

I understand this version of Jon didn’t shoot a gun in class so I can’t make a joke about that :(

But now that’s out of the way, let’s hypothetically say for some unknown, probably insane reason his student completely forgives him and now they’re S/Os

Imagine how awkward you thought it would be; it’s worse

He avoids anything related to his time as a professor like the plague

Another one of his ex-students sees him talking with his S/O and immediately jump-tackles him

There is no peace in this situation

I like to think Ed is trying his damn hardest to get this situation to turn into some sexy shit

But he keeps failing miserably because he is filthy, tired, and genuinely needs to relax

If his S/O somehow manages to convince him to actually stop plotting and working for a massage (which is a big IF, mind you)

He falls asleep within 3 minutes

This man is very, very tired and is feeling the borrowed energy from his thousand cups of coffee claiming their debt

I don’t write TWOJAR bc it made so many cool characters I liked useless props that just sit there, so apologies. The real villain in that story was Batman, anyway.

Zero Year!Riddler:

Okay, he’s definitely fucked up so big to the point that apologising probably won’t bring his S/O back, which is the only reason why he’s going to attempt anything even resembling an apology

And, well, what he’s mustering up isn’t anything special, just… a bland and empty sorry

Which, as mentioned before, is in the face of something so horrendously offensive nearly nothing will bring his partner back to him, so not exactly the best plan there bud

God, for one of the cleverest conscious beings out there, you really can be a dumbass sometimes.

Arkham!Scarecrow:

Depending on the severity of what he’d done to rightfully offend his S/O, the number of words coming out of his mouth varies; if it was something small, he starts rambling a tiny bit in his apology, but if it was something he was almost sure he couldn’t come back from, there would only be a quiet ‘sorry’, because he knows he doesn’t deserve more time to speak

Notice I said rightfully- if he’s done something he thinks was completely justified, instead of trying to argue with his S/O on it, he would willingly calmly discuss the matter with them, but they’re not getting any form of an apology either

In both scenarios, he’s calm and almost monotone, because he’d prefer to not raise his voice towards the person he loves, but this could easily be misinterpreted as rudeness and lack of caring
