biography
Wynneâs childhood wasnât exactly something she was going to brag about. In fact, she blocked out as much of it as she possibly could, especially once she was taken away from her family and placed in foster care. Her parents were, as much as she hated to admit it, drug addicts and once they were caught, DCF wasted no time dropping by for surprise visits after her parents swore that they were clean. They were never truly clean. Their drugs meant more to them than their kids did and thatâs how she ultimately ended up getting separated from her sister, Zuri. Wynne had been adopted and unluckily for her, not at a young age where she wouldnât remember what sheâd gone through.
Despite being adopted, it wasnât as they portrayed on tv shows, which was usually that the family was financially comfortable. They had enough to support her and themselves but she couldnât help tell that there was some financial strain here and there. She hated feeling as though she was a burden to the people who took her in.
The older she got, the more she found an escape through music. More importantly, she found an escape through her own music. She wrote out her feelings and turned them into songs with a guitar that her adopted parents found at good will. It was cheap but it was by far the best thing sheâd ever received. She, despite everything, was thankful for the couple that did adopt her, especially since she didn't know how it felt to be unconditionally loved.
High school was pretty much a blur. She spent the majority of the time taking music classes and learning how to play the guitar that her parents gifted her. When she wasn't doing that, she was taking chorus. Anything and everything that she could do to further improve what she loved to do what was all she wanted to do. Since her parents didn't really have the money to put her through these programs, she found herself an after school job doing some baby sitting for a couple of their neighbors.
Once high school was over, she really felt as though she needed to get herself and her music out there. So, she saved up more of her money and bought a van that she turned into a living space and began driving across the United States. She booked gigs wherever they would take her and did this for a couple of years until she was lucky enough to be signed by a small record label, one that she swore was going to launch her into being a star.
Except, that's not what happened. They stole her music and dropped her the moment that they got what they wanted. Not only did they take her music, they also stole all the money she ever made while under their label. so, clueless and devastated with the realization of what happened, she knew she didn't want to go home. instead, she decided on tracking her half sister down and ended up back in wilmington, where she was originally from.
now, she's working on building her career back up and sharing her music on the weekends at tric. when she's not doing that, she's working at thrifted treasures or writing music at her trailer in south hills.
