Biography
Layla Devika Saxena was born on August 15, 1991, in Cairo, Egypt, to her Indian parents, Vikram and Amira Saxena. Her father worked as a diplomatic officer, which led to Layla's unique birthplace and her Arabic first name. She grew up alongside her older brother, Raj, and younger sister, Priya. From a young age, she stood out from her siblings. While the duo were bookworms, her passion lay in the world of art—particularly in child modeling. At age six, the family moved to Wilmington. After their relocation, her parents encouraged her to pursue her interests. Luck was on her side because she quickly found success in the modeling industry—where she participated in numerous photo shoots and fashion shows, especially during the summer months. Her doe eyes and chubby cheeks, combined with her natural talent and charisma, made her a sought-after child model.
However, by the age of 11, she grew tired of the demanding schedule that came with modeling. She decided to focus on enjoying her childhood and participating in typical kid activities. In school, she discovered a love for sports and joined the track team and cheerleading squad. After graduating from high school—drawn by the glitz and glamor of the big city—Layla decided to go to college in New York City. She enrolled at New York University, where she initially studied business. During her sophomore year, she took a sports management course as an elective and found herself fascinated by the subject matter. She was particularly intrigued by the role of sports agents in representing and advocating for athletes. Recognizing her growing passion for the field, she decided to minor in sports management alongside her business major. Throughout her time at NYU, Layla sought out opportunities to gain hands-on experience in the sports industry. She secured internships with several prestigious sports agencies in Manhattan, working tirelessly to learn the ins and outs of the business. Her natural charm, strong communication skills, and keen eye for detail set her apart from other interns. Her supervisors recognized her potential and provided her with increasing responsibilities, allowing her to sit in on client meetings and assist with contract negotiations.
As her college career drew to a close, Layla's hard work and dedication paid off. She graduated from NYU with honors, earning a Bachelor's degree in Business with a minor in Sports Management. Her internship experiences and recommendations from her supervisors caught the attention of a top sports agency in the city, Apex Athletic Representation. They offered her a position as a junior agent, and she accepted the opportunity to launch her career in the competitive world of sports representation. In her role as a junior agent, she quickly made a name for herself. Her ability to connect with clients, understand their unique needs and aspirations, and fight tirelessly on their behalf earned her a loyal following among the athletes she represented. She had a knack for identifying up-and-coming talent and helping them secure lucrative contracts and endorsement deals. As her reputation grew, she began working with some of the biggest names in the sports world— negotiating record-breaking deals and ensuring her clients received the best possible representation.
As her career progressed, Layla's personal life also flourished. She met and fell in love with a fellow sports agent named Matthew. The couple dated for several years and eventually got engaged. However, just two years ago, she discovered that Matthew had been unfaithful to her. Devastated by the betrayal, she made the difficult decision to end the engagement. For that reason, she moved back to Wilmington. Despite the personal setback, she remained focused on her career. She continued to work hard, earning a reputation as one of the most promising young sports agents in the industry.
