about wyatt.
Wyatt was born as the first child of Laurel and Oliver Moore, a beautiful boy with bright blue eyes and the kindest of faces. As a child, he was rather calm, often more reserved than the rest of his fellow colleagues but never less of an extrovert. He was a daydreamer too, and he’d often imagine the day he’d finally leave the small town behind and see more of the world.
The following years were spent with Wyatt growing more and more restless in the town he called home but it wasn’t because of the way the Moore family was seen — he just couldn’t wait to get the hell out of there. He would collect stolen tourism magazines and dream about the day he’d finally be old enough to leave Roswell behind, to find his place in the world. That feeling of not ever fitting in only grew as he became older and watched as his fellow friends would fall for the cutest girls but that never happened to him. Wyatt went as far as thinking something must have been wrong with him because he simply couldn’t understand why he didn’t feel the same for any of the girls he’d meet. Until he finally did feel something... but it wasn’t for a girl.
Wyatt found himself slowly but surely falling for his best friend of years and luckily for him, the other felt exactly the same. Just two young boys, not exactly sure of what they were doing but still not ever wanting to stop. They would sneak away in between classes to share hidden kisses under the bleachers, they would have dates late in the evening, always so afraid of what their parents would say if they were to ever find out. Or anyone, for that matter. But Wyatt was in love for the first time and he was willing to fight for what they had. As all good things must come to an end, their little romance hit a splinter when a fellow classmate found them together. Wyatt, as scared as he was back then, was ready to face anyone that’d have something to say about them being a couple. His boyfriend, however, wasn’t.
The situation caused the young boy to freak out and he started to spread rumors about Wyatt, saying that he had been stalking him for weeks along with other awful things, outing the oldest Moore kid to the whole school in the process. The two never spoke to each other after that.
Wyatt didn’t quite know what to do at the time, only seventeen and trying to figure himself out — he surely didn’t feel prepared to deal with all the bullshit that was suddenly thrown on him, with all the rumors and the fact he’d just been dragged out of the closet before he even had the chance to discuss any of it with his family members. So instead of trying to do anything about it and making things worse, he kept his head low for months, pushing all of his friends away, until he was finally able to graduate.
He didn’t have savings of his own, all the money he’d make from part-time and Summer jobs given to his parents in order to help around the house and feed his younger siblings. He’d always been incredibly altruistic, couldn’t even imagine putting himself first when his family needed the money so badly, but as the months passed and the eyes of the Roswell residents stayed glued to him, Wyatt couldn’t take it anymore. Although the topic of him being the only gay member of his family was never brought up, he could feel it in his father’s gaze, looking down on him as if he had any right to. As if he was all high and mighty. Wyatt simply couldn’t stand the disappointment in his Oliver’s eyes, saying all of the ugly words that he had swallowed up.
And so for the first time in all of his life, Wyatt placed himself first. Grabbed his payment for the month at whatever odd job he’d been in at the time and packed a backpack with a few of his belongings before kissing his younger siblings and his mother goodbye. Despite that being something he wanted to do since he was a kid, it still was the hardest decision of his life — to leave it all behind. Wyatt spent a few years on the road, barely an adult at the time and yet feeling like he had lived so much, until he found his way to the bigger cities and made himself a home in New York City.
In the new city, he felt as if he could write himself a new story, a new life, and that’s what he tried to do, which was unfortunate for him. Wyatt could only see his attraction for men as a curse, the thing that had ruined his life, and so he tried his best to free himself from it. If he tried hard enough, he’d be able to change that about himself, right? Yeah, no... He managed to go as far as getting himself in bed with a friend but ended up coming out to her as soon as it was over. She wasn’t mad, which was a surprise to him, and the two stayed close friends.
The news of a pregnancy came like a punch to his stomach not even three months later, and at the age of twenty-three with barely any pennies in his pocket, Wyatt found himself freaking out over how he’d help her out. Was he even ready to be a father? He’d never even thought about the possibility, and yet he stayed by her side. As a means to grab himself money to support his future child, he started to pick up freelancing gigs as a writer, something he’d only ever dabbed in as a hobby throughout his high school years. But that’s where he found his passion, his purpose in life, and soon enough he started to do it as a full time thing.
Wyatt’s daughter, Dorothy Moore, came into the world not long after that and for the next few years, he solely focused on building his career as well as learning how to be a good father to her. He became a publishing author under the pseudonym of E. Boyd, not wanting to claim any attention towards himself if he were to make it big and that’s exactly what happened. The author’s first thriller book was a success, a best-seller with raging reviews from The New York Times, which made him mildly famous in the community. With the income he received and the freedom of being published under another name, Wyatt was able to rent himself a nice place in SoHo as well as help the mother of his daughter with whatever she’d need. The two remained best friends and co-parents, raising Dottie together as a little family of their own.
He had been living a good life, keeping in touch with his family back in Roswell as well as he could and coming to terms with his sexuality. It took him years of hurting but Wyatt managed to accept himself, although that’s still something he’s quite private about. Doesn’t think that it’s anybody’s business but his own but he’ll never hide that part of himself anymore. Things were fine for a while, up until he received the voice message from his younger brother about the decline in their mother’s health. The prospect of returning to Roswell, nearly fifteen years later, wasn’t a good one but Wyatt knew that’s what he needed to do. And so he packed his things up again, this time to go back to the place that had once ruined him.
Wyatt managed to bring his daughter and his best friend with him, not knowing if he could ever do this without them, and he swallowed his traumas in order to be by his mom’s side. Much to his surprise, the rumors about him that once existed were completely gone as his ex-boyfriend came around to telling the truth a while later and that definitely made his return a little easier. He’s been in town for about two months, managed to find himself a cozy place in Jupiter Valley as well as a place for the mother of his daughter to stay. Wyatt doesn’t want to settle down in Roswell again but he’ll be around for as long as his mom and his siblings need him, even if not all of them welcomed him with open arms.
