Semi hiatus?
Going through the phase of not wanting to open my game much less my computer these days. Work has been extra busy and is only going to pick up leaving me too tired to really do anything and days off have been filled with catching up on cleaning and sleep I wasn't getting/doing when I'm working.

I need everyone to sit with me on the floor for a second. You guys remember this is a community centered around a dress up game, right? A simulation game. You know. EA once stared down at SimCity and asked themselves: "hey! Those people screaming down there, because of the alien attack, what are they thinking about?" And then we got The Sims. This is what this community is about. You remember that, right? We're all just a bunch of nerds (affectionate) playing a videogame. We are ALL nerds. You are not the cool kid for bullying another nerd. In the end of the day you are also a nerd who's obsessed with a game. And I mean this with all the kindness in my heart. We were supposed to be sharing our little colorful pixel people and cheering for each other's games and stuff. How does "hey this modder didn't update my favorite mod in 5 days now. Some quick troubleshooting tips for the new patch:
Can't get into Tomarang? Remove or update your TOOL mod.
Icons/user interface looks wonky? Remove or update all UI mods. (Color Slider, More Traits, More Columns, UI Cheats, etc.)
Toddler faces glitched & melting? Remove or update No EA Lashes mod(s).
Did you know you can make sims look in a specific direction whilst they're posed?
Hit shift+tab to enter first person mode
Aim the camera where you want your sim to look (make sure your game isn't paused otherwise the sim won't move - you can press 1 in first person mode to set time running)
Hit pause (by pressing P)
Hit shift+tab again to exit first person mode
Voila! Your sim is now looking in the direction you pointed 'em!
A neat little cheat to get multiple uses from the same pose! π€ΈββοΈ

Can't launch Sims 4 right now? It's not your mods!!
This morning there is a problem with the EA App that's preventing Sims 4 from launching. You can launch the game following these steps:
Click the bottom left corner X to pause the supposed "update"
Β Go to the top left menu (three horizontal lines)
Select "Go Offline" See the pinned post at https://answers.ea.com/t5/Bug-Reports-Technical-Issues/Cannot-download-The-Sims-4/td-p/12866104 for a launch method.
Several threads are running at https://answers.ea.com/t5/Bug-Reports-Technical-Issues/bd-p/ea-app-bug-reports-en. At some point, they'll get consolidated, but for now, going to that particular AHQ forum will get you there. UPDATE: This is the thread you want: https://answers.ea.com/t5/Bug-Reports-Technical-Issues/Cannot-download-The-Sims-4/td-p/12866104. EA knows about the problem and is working on a fix. The best thing to do right now is DON'T click update. Just go do something else for a while.
REUPDATE: That thread now has a pinned post with a more complex way to launch the game.
UPDATE
The EA App problem is now fixed.
To see the fix on your end, do an EA App Recovery:
Open the EA App
Select the upper left corner menu (three lines)
Select Help
Select App Recovery
NOTE: If you still have issues, try also restarting your computer. Or go for a walk and try App Recovery again in a while; the fix may still be rolling out. And no, there's no actual update!
