I want to name the fic and let people judge for themselves but I know a lot of people aren’t attuned to these tells and won’t believe me and will play devil’s advocate. really, I kind of want to go through the whole thing line by line and eviscerate it as a teaching tool

i’m still deliberating whether to outright name the author but I saw this on twitter, and I think this is why there are so many people complaining about a “witch hunt” because this problem is IMMENSE and a lot of people are probably trying to seed doubt into the conversation bc they are AI users

this is the study

Its not that I necessarily want kids everywhere in these spaces but I don't want to have to prove I'm not one. I don't want people without IDs to not be able to access whole sections of the Internet. I don't want people who do have IDs to have to constantly have to give up their information to random websites with risks of cyber breaches.

It's not that I think all kids exclusively benefit from being online and that theres not flaws and dangers to it. But I do think that closeted trans kid who can't come out irl should be able to find community and learn they're not alone. I do think that kids in closed off communities who may not interact with certain marginalised communities or who's parents are actively against them should have a place to talk to real people and learn.

I think that it sure is questionable timing to put everything behind an ID requirement and age restriction when social media is one of the main and few ways to get news that isn't hidden behind a pay wall and learn about the things that the mainstream papers aren't going to bother covering.
