to styx, watching a man’s head explode onto his lawn is no different than watching a woman toss her trash on the streets (less irking in fact, for at least the corpse will decay)

to styx, watching the man’s daughter scream and cry is about as moving as hearing a little kid throw a fit when they drop their ice cream

idk man i jot down this dialogue that was revealed to me in a vision at work then was like “i can’t just put this in the story for no reason” n then my brain spiraled w reasons

so there's this band wrought tours w later on in book 2 (the band itsself is under construction bc i can't tell if i like em all that much, gretchen is the only one i care for) and the band is called Gretchenfuge. gretchen, whose real name is mitzi, is the drummer of the band. they bond over self-destruction disguised as a never-ending party, late nite shit-faced conversations that span from everything from holyshitihatemymom to the secrets of the universe to "have you ever done so much blow you vomit rocket fuel the entirety of the next morning". they gotta lot in common-- including being trans-- despite rosamel being a pretty small, scrawny, city boy with a strange mix of a pop and gothic inspirations and mitzi being a taller, broader woman from a small town overseas whose first love was thrash n death metal. rosamel really can't tell if he likes mitzi or not, or if he's just relieved to not feel so alone, but he tries not to think about it. if he thinks about it, he can guarantee he'll ruin it or the universe will sense a potential for joy n snatch it away or both-- like last time

mitzi is perfectly comfortable w being friends that're a lil too close n a lil too special to one another. eventually, rosamel settles on the same, also note mitzi is aroace n rose is aro. "queer platonic partner" it may be called today but to them, that's jus their best friends (and yeah, mutual enablers)

yk at the time i wrote it down it really was jus rosamel n i goin back n forth n gettin a lil short w each other outta sheer frustration towards our own selves. later i started thinkin bout it more, n originally it was gonna make it be him n koresh in rehab bc it was obvious but it made no sense whatsoever. bc then, rosamel is jus a kid, he doesn’t feel okay without drugs n if he does he’s already told himself its farce. so im thinkin its after leslie dies, rose falls harder and deeper into his alcoholism, then kinda picks himself up— in due time— bc he doesn’t wanna be leslie. he’s scared sober, he’s almost thirty, a lot of maturing has been done n he’s recognizing it’s time to get sober— but he still feels very fucking stuck as sobriety tends to make one feel at first. i’m thinkin it’s robyn he’s most likely to have the convo w, maybe his very special dear friend gretchen, i forget if yall met her n to what extent if so. but she’s also an alcoholic n does a lotta blow, and it hasn’t hurt her yet. so if that convo was w her, it would be a lil tougher, it likely wouldn’t feel like the progress rose needs— but maybe that’s exactly why rose has it w her, as a subconscious way of telling himself it’s okay to stay stuck
