I think Ian in obsession represented how men’s friendships with each other perpetuate misogynistic behaviour (the way he makes fun of Bear for trying to be sincere and nice to his crush) and I think Sarah represents the other side of the coin; how women can act like agents of patriarchy too and be complicit in the violence against other women by prioritising their relationships with men over the wellbeing of other women (her being more concerned for Bear than Nikki after the party scene). You could go as far as saying that her prioritisation of Bear led to her demise which was actually his fault in the way that even acting the way patriarchy demands does not spare women from men’s violence. Ultimately that whole friend group destroyed Nikki tho
