Inkwell Hell. Really not a good place for an amphibian to visit, even if Ribby was able to defend himself he still had the whole ‘you’ll dehydrate if you stay in there too long’ thing to deal with…

Still, there was a certain person he’d needed to see again. And so, with a water bottle in the pocket of his slacks, the frog had made tracks for the warmest area in all of Inkwell..

He hadn’t been here since… Oof, the contracts. Not a good thing to remember, but at least that was no longer an issue.

Passing through the cave mouth and into the double doors of the Casino, Ribby was once more met with the smoke, the alcohol and the ’house win’ calls of the damned area swirling in the air. He’d always hated smoke, since a frog relies on cool, clean air to be able to breathe properly… But right now? That didn’t matter. So long as he had access to water, he was fine.

Now then… She was a waitress, right? Maybe she was by the bar…

As happy as she was to see him after so long, she did feel bad that he travelled all the way from isle one to see her. Which just reminded her-

But, he wasn’t going to dwell on it. That would just make him madder.

“Well, it would appear I’ve found a place even madder than Wonderland. Feel free to spread this around, I wouldn’t want my arrival to go to waste, now would I?”

“All I said was you’re not allowed in here!”

Well, he wasn’t expecting the kid to immediately want to start a fight. After all, Croaks had been trying to be civil here! Kids shouldn’t be in somewhere like a Clip Joint! There was booze, fighting- Well ok maybe Cuphead had already seen his fair share of that but still! And yes, maybe he had been a little harsh, but this was legality on the line! 

Not to mention there were more than a few drunks there that day.

“I wanna go see otha stuff!!” He exclaimed, almost bouncing with excitement before he remembered that wouldn’t end well for him.

And with that, Croaks made his way from the boat, to the other sights of Inkwell Isle 1. He had to think of areas Cuphead would appreciate from a higher view. Hmm... Ooh! Hilda’s Observatory was the highest place in the isle, and not to mention it looked over to Isle 2! Cuphead could probably even see the carnival from there!

After what seemed like hours of constant service, Lottie final had a small moment between customers. During which she spotted Ribby in the casino.

She saved him over and shouted over the noise of the casino to get his attention.

He’d managed to make his way up to the bar fairly easily after spotting the bartender through the crowd, standing a little left of the bar in order to avoid obstructing any other customers. As much as he loved to fight, Ribby knew it was a death wish to pick a fight in here, especially given his species.

“What’m I doin’? Just wanted to come see you working, haven’t seen you in ages!” Texts were ok, but being able to see the champagne glass face to face was much better. And luckily, he’d come at a pretty quiet time. Of course, there was no telling how long they’d have to chat until another rush hour started, so the frog had already told himself to make the best of whatever time he had.

While the frog had really just been minding his own business, trying to enjoy a few hours peace outside before his fight, he was definitely not expecting the giant candy canine to just barrel into him like that. OK THAT’S A BIG DOG BIG DOG BIG D-

Dog? Candy castle thing, but a dog candy castle? A dog? In Isle 1?

“Hey, ey it’s ok, I’m fine, boy! S’ok, I’m good! Where’d you come from..?”

Come to think of it, this owner looked really... Important? Regal? Familiar? Something about her made the frog feel like he should know who she was, but never visiting Isle 2 didn’t exactly help him with that. Oh well, it would come to him soon, maybe.

The quick change in altitude had made the toad a little light headed, but nothing too drastic, he simply folded his arms and allowed Cuphead to take in the sights now he was 6 and a half feet above the ground.

“This is great!! Everythin’s so small from up here!” He exclaimed.

Well, seems the kid was having fun ‘experiencing new heights’ so to speak, so maybe... “You wanna go see what everywhere else looks like? Or you had enough?”
