The cup had been, once again, travelling through inkwell. He was getting quite sick of being stuck inside all the time, plus, his mind was getting pretty… Fogged up, shall we say. A nice travel around should clear his cup of a head. 

Cuphead had been humming a small tune, when he heard a purr of some sort. Was there.. A cat here? No, that would be impossible! He walked through this spot a thousand times and he never saw a cat of any kind, ever! So it’s impossible for a cat to be here!… Right?

‘Oh fuck it, maybe it’s just a cat like person, who the fuck knows’. He thought, a small, bitter and tired frown settling onto his mouth.

Well, that might have just given him an existential crisis about his and Hatter’s tea parties... Still, the cat hadn’t seen any other living cups in Wonderland, so maybe there were just a few here. Wherever he was...

The cat’s eyes stayed on the porcelain teen’s for another few moments before he strolled into the clearing, gently bouncing off his paws and into the air as his body floated up to around a foot off the ground. Hmm. This cup wasn’t too much taller than himself, was he?

Folding his arms and leaning them against thin air, the cat’s grin stretched across his face as those same blue eyes flicked to each of Cuphead’s features. No sound for what seemed like an eternity.

Even though Cheshire wasn’t one for being egotistical, he definitely took the compliment in stride. He arched his body on the branch of the deep blue tree, before melting into a more lazy position, staring up at the girl, upside down on his back.

“Names are temporary things, my dear. You only really use names to write to someone, and when are you going to write to a cat? Have you any idea why a raven is like a writing desk?”

She shrugged at her own reply before the cat could. “Hello, Ches! I’m Josie. Josie Juice. You may or may not have heard of me!” The girl smiled with sharp teeth.

Listening to the girl’s response, Ches clawed at the bark underneath his fur before pulling himself up into a seated position. Beetlejuce, and Josie… The names didn’t exactly ring a bell. “Haven’t heard of either of you in the slightest, love. Apologies if I should have, word doesn’t exactly get round in these parts.”

Underland. Honestly he’d stopped using that name by now, it made things sound all too dreary. And besides, the white queen was back! What good would a sour mood do them?

The girl nervously wrung her hands together at the cat’s question. This was so embarrassing…

“I kinda got lost! You should really do something about your hole problem here!” She nervously looked away. “Could you help me get back up top? I’m a little bit farther than 6 feet below! Haha!”

Not that he saw anything ‘normal’ in that place. From what Alice had told him, it was a festered dumpster fire.

She looked down at her dirtied striped dress. It wasn’t too bad looking to her. However, her taste in fashion was pretty strange to most people. Josie was talking to a cat; he wouldn’t care about clothes and fashion.

“Yes, the flowers can be a little stuck in their ways. You’re either a flower or a weed to them, and if they don’t see petals, a weed you are.” A pretty rude way to see the world, but what could he say? He was a cat, not a flower. “Your dress isn’t too bad, my dear. The stripes are always a good touch, though maybe a hat would accent it...”

Of course, he just had to make a comment about hats. How he loved them, specifically top hats. They were definitely for fine occasions.

“Well then I advise you to go for it, but it most likely won’t get answered. Even so, you won’t be able to write that letter unless we get you back up there, will you?”
