generally feeling inspired to write something up for ocd awareness month, because before my diagnosis, I was deadset on the feeling that I was autistic rather than ocd. To not ramble for too long, this wasn't the case because although I did struggle socially, it was because of my ocd. It seems now everything I do and have done is because of my ocd. And all the other struggles I face are just due to a lower cognitive function.
Ocd never rung a bell because I wasn't aware of how it truly worked. To be honest, I had thought of it as the "very tidy, particular, cleaning shit" disorder. My journey from there to now has been tedious, Ocd has made me lose friends and lovers. My last ex boyfriend also has ocd, and for a short while after I was diagnosed, I was obsessed with the idea he had, more or less, transferred it to me, to punish me.
It's silly. I know that now but I was convinced for months. Until I started therapy.
And I still have a long way to go. I hope all my fellow ocd people have a great month of learning and remember,
it will be worse before it get better, you are not your thoughts.
