Every writer I know has trouble writing.

There is no real ending. It’s just the place where you stop the story.

Me: *writes a thing* this is the best thing I’ve ever written

You must stay drunk on writing so reality cannot destroy you.

If you can quit, then quit. If you can’t quit, you’re a writer.

The first draft is just you telling yourself the story.

Fiction is the truth inside the lie.

Finish. The difference between being a writer and being a person of talent is the discipline it takes to apply the seat of your pants to the seat of your chair and finish. Don’t talk about doing it. Do it. Finish.

Poetry can be anything you want.

You don’t start out writing good stuff. You start out writing crap and thinking it’s good stuff, and then gradually you get better at it. That’s why I say one of the most valuable traits is persistence.
