“We did it.”

“Yes, we did.”

This plan of using war as disguise to ultimately run away together, had been a risky one but ultimately worth it in the end.

Neither of them had wanted to be royalty, to rule over kingdoms, to have every second of their lives decided for them. But it was a burden they had to carry since no one else would ever understand. They thought they would never meet anyone who would be able to understand what they had to go through.

Until the day they had met each other.

From there, they both found a confidant, a companion, what had began as idle conversations soon transformed into letters which eventually became a confession underneath the starry night sky in Leah’s kingdom.

And soon a life together, a normal life, was all either of them could think about.

Leah never imagined that she would find love again, but she had. 

In the most unexpected place. 

At the animal rescue she volunteered whenever she had free time. It was there that she met Y/N and they immediately clicked, finding out that they had many things in common. 

Being with Y/N was easy. 

Time flew by so quickly that before Leah knew it, the sun was beginning to set and she had to go back home. 

Leah hadn't felt this way in such a long time, and never wanted it to end. 

3, 6, 9 + alice/bella

Alice takes her to see the stars after everything’s settled. She says that Bella’s never learned to appreciate the beauty of the night sky with vampiric eyes. They lie in cool, dry grass and gaze upwards, at first, in silence.

Bella will be the first to admit that even with her new, sharper senses, there are things she can’t always catch. She hears Alice murmur something about “wrong choices” and “pretty brown hair” and doesn’t ask further questions, even as Alice brushes a cool hand across her forehead. This is normal, sisterly, friendly.

She thinks back to when she was human, in tears because she wanted so badly to not be. Alice had been such a comfort, stroking her hair and whispering that she was a beautiful human girl with all the possibilities in the world, and Bella had shrieked that she had already chosen and wanted her choice to be respected.

Now she is respected, she is powerful, she is loved and hated and feared and everything. It is everything she had ever wanted.

Emily’s dress looks like the pastry that she made once.

That is the first thought that goes through Leah Clearwater’s head as her cousin floats down the aisle like a pageant queen, her hair done up and threaded with shining jewels from the Uley family. The same jewels that Leah had been forced to return...

And, of all places, a church? Nobody here was any sort of Christian, and this ugly dress that Leah was wearing would have been suitable on a white girl, perhaps, but only made her look awful. Her sneakers are her little rebellion, hidden beneath the long skirts.

Leah wonders yet again about the vicissitudes of fate - how was it that she, who had understood Sam’s sense of humor and knew his story like nobody else, had been the one that fate itself deemed not enough? Surely she was the one that belonged with him, as she once had, before gods and monsters decided to intervene?

She stands when the priest is mid-sentence. “Don’t say yes, run away now - I’ll meet you when you’re out of the church at the back door.”

“…It would seem the rumors are true. The Cullen Coven is in fact coming to visit us.” 

“Oh joy.” The sarcastic tone of his companion is something that never fails to amuse Alec, even as they play chess in a part of the castle gardens where the sun can’t reach them. “The Cullens have once again decided to grace us with their presence? In how many decades?” 

“Thankfully, I do not keep track of their visits.” Alec responded as he moved one of the chess pieces. “Nor, am I their keeper. Something I am also thankful for.” 

“That would be the cruelest punishment.” They were getting close to checkmate. “Outside of actually interacting with them.” 

“You really detest them, don’t you?” 

“How could I not? Especially after the last stunt that psychic of theirs had pulled." 

Alice Cullen had ultimately decided to approach them, talking their ear off about potential shopping trips and how excited she was about their supposed budding friendship that she apparently saw happening in the future. 

They had just ignored Alice and her ramblings, that was until she thought it was okay to touch them, and invade their personal space, obviously crossing an invisible line. Their boundary. It had reminded them of their human life, when their body had been a map of bruises old and new. 

The only reason Alice had not lost her head was because of their self control and every time the psychic tried to approach them, they quickly left, not caring of how hurt she had felt. 

They hoped that she had learned her lesson. 

"Checkmate." Ah, Alec had captured their queen while they had been distracted.

There are times when I wonder what you would think of me now. You would have made fun of me sitting in a high school with humans, pretending not to suffer from a burning throat, re-learning what I have known a decade ago.

Vampires of all genders are very striking - their physical attractiveness is what is noticed first, not whether they conform to any conventional norms. This greatly helped 

Not that, really, Aro needed to care about that. He - and yes, he, to hell with the body he was stuck with - had a powerful gift, an ideology, and a fierce determination to live and rule in power forever. He had defeated the Romanian tyrants after centuries of war, and he had visions and goals.

Bella Swan kind of ruins this.

She thwarts him (and she’s the first to ever do so), encourages the second-largest vampire coven in existence to openly defy him...

He has her stay in Volterra. She accepts, she wants to forget about Forks and heartbreak and rain and cold golden eyes. She feels like she’s burned bridges with her dad and the Quileutes. She’s pretty sure the Cullens aren’t treating her well, even if they do love her.

“You look lovely in red“, she says to him once she’s settled well into her stay, and she’s still human (he wants to wait a little so that her desire for immortality wins over her love for the Cullen coven). He had thrown aside a red scrap of fabric in disgust. “Why do you not wear it more often?”

It’s the first question he will answer honestly. “It had been forced upon me as a sign of femininity.”

She will throw her head back, laugh, and press her red lips to the eyelids that conceal his red eyes.

“Think of it this way. When I have red eyes of my own, and drink red blood for the rest of eternity, I will be a vampire and not a woman.”

His lips are not red, but hers are. They will meet a month after her transformation, both of them battling for the blood of a particularly delicious human wearing an oddly compressive undergarment.
