Your eyes blink open, and you sit up with a startle. It’s dim now, and you can feel the warmth of a fire flickering near you. You feel the same pang in your head as the last time you had awoken from unconsciousness, bringing your hands up to press against the hollows of your eye sockets with a groan.
Your mouth is parched, tongue smacking against the dryness and oh, what you wouldn’t give for some damn water.
Almost as if an answer to your prayers, you remove your hands and your eyes lock onto a rounded, wooden bowl filled with water on the ground by your leg. Without another thought, you grasp the bowl and bring it to your lips, gulping the cool water down. Eyes closed in relief, your throat is soothed and you can feel the chill of the water painting a path down inside your body. You bring the bowl down with a gasp, finally swapping the liquid for breath, and that’s when you take in your surroundings.
It was dark, the crackle of the fire the only sound, flickering light against the wall of the structure you were in. It wasn’t a cave, it seemed like thin branches of some sort woven together and bent to make the makeshift shelter. There were other trinkets hanging along the walls, but even as you squint you couldn’t make them out clearly. You feel the pinpricks of numbness settling into your foot, as you begin to readjust you feel the softness of the ground beneath your hands and legs. It wasn’t the ground, there was a huge, fuzzy blanket type material beneath you, soft like fur in some parts and course like whiskers in others. No doubt an animal hide.
Just then you realize how cold the air is despite the fire, so you drape the large blanket around your shoulders and settle in again until your eye catches a glowing red spot in the corner.
You squint again to see through the shadows, and with a gulp you realize it’s a person – a very large man. Your body freezes and goosebumps cover your flesh as you realize with a chill that you were not alone this whole time, that you were being watched as you took in your surroundings.
The man stares at you back, red eyes pinning you, analyzing, ever watchful. He has a similar woolly blanket draped over his form, covering most of his body.
Unsure, you think he is the same man you encountered earlier, the man who took down the tiger. You don’t know whether he did it to help you or not, but you figure that he’s the only thing that currently stands between you and your death in this prehistoric era.
You take a deep breath, steel yourself, and slowly push the empty bowl in his direction.
“Can I have some more please?” You squeak.
He stares at you. Then he shifts. He slowly lumbers up to his full, gaping height, the blankets falling to the ground around his bare feet. You can barely make out his form through the shadows as he pads towards the right, reaching down to grab something before making his way closer to you.
Your breath hitches when he steps into the firelight.
Your wide eyes take in his muscular form, the extra set of limbs sprouting from just below his shoulders, the oddly placed eyes, the – the thing covering the right side of his face, the black markings all over his skin. And his height – dear lord the guy was a giant! He was easily the largest man, both in height and musculature, that you’ve ever laid eyes on.
Your gaze then meets his. He watches you take in his form, used to the fear he sees flicker in your eyes yet there’s something else there, something like fascination and curiosity.
You flinch when he steps closer and catch him rolling his left eyes, the bigger ones on the right not leaving you, not blinking.
He huffs as he squats by your bowl slightly, pouring water from some kind of clay barrel into it, and that’s when you see them.
With how nervous you’ve been, you didn’t realize until just now, legs open in front of you that he had two massive dicks hanging between his thighs.
You gulp and quickly avert your eyes, heat creeping up your cheeks but your eyes have a mind of their own and flit back to the appendages swinging like pendulums. He gets up then, shifting back to his spot in the dark and curling into his blankets once more.
This time you watch him as you gulp down your drink, trying to make sense of it all. As much as you didn’t want to breathe life into the idea, it was clear you weren’t in your own time anymore. You were in a time preceding your own, where beasts and early mankind – who once lived only in your textbooks – now ruled the land. And here you were, somehow sharing a hut with one. A beast or a man, you had yet to find out.
So then, what was he? An early caveman it seemed, but what species? How far in the past were you?
You realized with a dread then, that you would need him if you wanted to survive. You weren’t built for this period, the environment completely unfamiliar to you, and for whatever reason he hasn’t killed you yet and you weren’t eager to push your luck.
You steel yourself. “So, what’s your name?”
Silence. He stares at you.
You introduce yourself anyway, knowing he doesn’t understand a lick of your language. If you don’t speak, however, you feel you’d go crazy.
You ask him about himself, speak to him slowly while using gestures hoping he understands. You know he’s as intelligent as you, considering his use of weapons and shelter and the clay jug molded to hold water, all these were modern tools that early humans used twenty to thirty-thousand years ago. And although he didn’t speak to you, he was able to communicate, understanding your request for more water and granting it.
He was too big to be a neanderthal, they weren’t found in Japan as far as you know, and he was easily eight feet tall with the physique to rival a bodybuilder.
Your heart begins to pick up pace, flushing in excitement and cheeks stretching to accommodate your growing smile at the realization that the new species you and the team were out to discover, was here. Sitting right in front of you. Bundled up in blankets to keep warm.
He doesn’t respond to anything you say, but his brows furrow at your changing expression. He shoots you a final side eye before grunting and turning over to finally sleep, and you think maybe you creeped him out with your leering – that or you talked his ear off.
At least he doesn’t think I’m a threat, you think, if he’s comfortable enough to turn his back to me.
It’s then you feel your own eyes get heavy. You stifle a yawn and curl into your own furs, trying to get some much-needed rest.
You awaken the next morning after some fitful sleep. Even with the blankets, sleeping on the ground was not at all as comfortable as a bed, or even a sleeping bag. Not to mention despite the warmth from the fire and furs, the coldness of the night still seeped into your hands and feet. You would need to get used to it.
When you sit up, the fire is already out and you are alone. You blink away the last of your fatigue and stretch, day light pouring in from the front entrance of the structure. You take a moment to take in your surroundings now that you can actually see them.
You’re inside some type of hut, big enough to fit three or four people, with a sloped, cone-shaped roof tapering off above you, not sealed off all the way. Definitely to leave an escape for the smoke from the fire. The wall beside you is made up of some thin, bamboo type shoots woven together, and when you press against it, its firm to the touch, unmoving. You guess there is some material on the outside of it stopping any breeze from flowing through the cracks, maybe some clay or something to help its firmness and retain heat better.
The firepit is in the center, and there’s an assortment of items leaning against the walls and hanging from them too: different knives and tools, stone and wooden trinkets, the large clay jug of water from earlier in one corner and towards the opposite end of the entrance of the hut… bones?
You can’t help your curiosity and slowly inch closer, only to step on something. You glance down and gasp in elation. It’s Suguru’s toolbelt!
In all the hubbub you completely forgot about it again, and this time you take full inventory of his stash of essentials. Aside from the excavation tools and flashlight, he also kept:
a lighter
a match kit
some travel Advil and bandages
gauze
a mini sewing kit
some mint funny enough
a collapsible water bottle
a little three-inch switchblade
a whistle
protein bars
and a pencil and notepad.
How he kept all this stuff in a tiny little toolkit, you’d never know, and frankly you didn’t care! You squeal in happiness at your treasures, packing them back up and thinking how you could just kiss him when you see him again for indirectly keeping you alive.
You secure the belt back onto your hips and walk over to the different bones you noticed earlier. They’ve all been dried thoroughly and are clearly in the process of being repurposed. Some are shaved down into blunt ends, others into sharp points. You touch the smooth ivory tusks of mammoths, big rib cages still intact and reach forward to feel the heaviness in your palm when a shout from the entrance makes you yelp and drop it.
Your head flies around to see a little pink-haired boy at the entrance dressed in nothing but some woven underpants, eyes wide and finger pointing at you accusatorily. He shouts something again until a large hand appears from behind him and grabs him by the hem of his garment and plucks him up, the kid flailing about in the air before disappearing.
You blink at the cartoonish interaction, and that’s when you pick up the sounds coming from outside. It sounds like chatter, like people and hustle-bustle. You walk closer to the entrance, closer to the sounds of civilization and you pull your cap lower over your eyes to shield yourself the glare of the sun briefly when you exit.
When your eyes adjust, you see the community before you. Huts no different than your own sprinkled around a huge clearing, the forest line not too far from where you stand, maybe a hundred meters away. People dressed in leathers and furs, men and women and children, trickling in and out of different huts, some sitting around fires, busy in their activities and others running around. There can’t be more than forty or fifty people here, but you could feel the synergy in the system they built, the community. You notice the hut you came out of is situated a little differently than the others, a bit further away, almost on the outskirts of the encampment. You wonder if it’s because you’re an unknown outsider or for some other reason.
You hear struggling from behind you and turn to see the four-armed giant from last night. The little child who was yelling at you just moments before – who you notice eerily resembles the larger fellow – is thrashing around in his grip upside down, held simply by his ankle. The man looks almost bored, ignoring the kid completely as the arms on his other side cradle a large woven basket. You notice a couple more kids idling around his legs, staring up at you in curiosity and you gulp in nervousness, not used to having so many eyes on you.
With one eye watching you, the man lowers the kid before dropping him on his bum and muttering something to him. The kids all scatter away and run towards the main encampment, glancing back at you every now and then.
The man now has his undivided attention on you but you don’t notice, eyes glued to the countless blueberries in the sack in his arms. Your stomach growls, hands clamping onto your belly in embarrassment and hunger as you eye the fruit. The caveman sighs through his nose before reluctantly holding the sack out to you, and you dive in without hesitation, bringing handfuls of the berries to your lips. The man watches you munch away, mind at work behind his furrowed brows.
Much of the questions you had about him, he wondered about you as well. And his current question was why the heck you were so scrawny and small. He’s never seen a woman look like you before: you were easily a foot shorter than the smallest women in their band despite being clearly fully grown. Your build was comically miniature, less sturdy, and you certainly didn’t seem very durable. Yet despite this, there was no indication of illness or malnutrition. You just looked like a smaller version of the normal person.
Whatever, he had other things to do.
You startle at his abrupt movement. He begins walking towards the rest of the community and you blindly follow him. Whether you follow him or the berries, he can’t tell.
You glance around your surroundings behind his big, burly back, and awkwardly note the way most of the people stop what they’re doing and stare. The beast leading you pays no mind, no doubt used to the looks and truth be told, he finds it refreshing that he’s not the object of their stares for once.
Typically, they’d be wary of outsiders and threats, ready with spears and weapons but since Sukuna was the one to bring your unconscious body into their space himself, they deemed you safe enough.
Just then, the delicious aroma of cooking meat hits your nostrils, causing you to salivate and whip your head around to the source of the smell. All your nervousness and shame gone, you forget about the man you were following like a puppy and all but float over to where a muscular woman sits roasting some type of meat on skewers over an open flame. Like a hawk, she watches you approach, ready for anything, hand tightening on a makeshift poker out of sight. Others watch too, flabbergasted that the puniest stranger would approach one of their most lethal warriors.
When you reach her, there is an almost audible pause as you raise your hand and point to the cooking meat like a toddler. The woman stares, but this time her expression drops from guarded to dumbstruck.
Your cheeks heat as she eyes you with an unimpressed gaze, but c’mon, a handful of blueberries would never have filled you. She slowly reaches for a skewer and awkwardly passes it to you. You thank her, happily blowing away at the sizzling meat before taking a bite, turning to look around for your companion.
You find him sauntering back over towards the treeline, already out of the main camp so you rush to catch up to him, the eyes of the others following you. You see a long spear, almost trident-looking, resting loosely over his shoulders, top set of arms dangling over it. A set of eyes glance your way as you catch up to his side, but he otherwise pays you no mind.
You two find yourself back at the river bank. He reaches for a little sack tied around the top of his weapon, and tosses it into the water. It looked like the carcass of a small animal.
He meanders his way to a large set of flat boulders perched perfectly in the sun and plops himself down. He reclines back on folded arms behind his head, natural eyes closed. The eyes on the plate on his face remain open and unblinking, shifting around his environment every few moments.
You stand off to the side for a bit, unsure what to do since your unofficial tour guide decided to take a break so early in the day.
Deciding on exploring your surroundings, you wander around the riverbank poking and prodding at shells, getting bored very quickly. Huffing, you plop down some ways away from the dozing caveman and stare at his incredible body.
You’d only seen muscles like that in bodybuilding videos on social media. Body taut even while relaxing, strange markings – tattoos – marking lines on his chest and bands around his wrists and biceps.
Your head tilts in perplexity. How the fuck was he maintaining this physique? Certainly not on wild berries. You know that humans in this time period were more herbivorous than they were carnivores, owing mainly to the fact that meat was sparser and tougher to catch than plant-based foods.
In that moment, a lightbulb goes off above your head. Why not document this? All your questions, all your observations, everything?
You reach into your toolbelt and pull out the little notepad and pencil, flipping through to a new page passing by Suguru’s neat handwriting.
You jot down everything that comes to mind so far: the settlement, the huts, the structure and tools used, what the people were wearing, the community dynamic – everything.
You glance up towards your companion, still lying there sunbathing like a cat. On a fresh page, you start sketching out his frame, trying to capture everything with your limited artistic ability and labeling his body like a diagram. You’re so absorbed in what you’re doing, you don’t notice him rousing from his light slumber, all eyes now trained on you.
His keen hearing picked up on you fiddling about earlier while he relaxed, splashing slightly on the shore and muttering to yourself in your strange tongue. Then you went silent, and stayed silent.
Peeking an eye open to see if you managed to die in the five minutes he left you to your devices, he sees you some distance away, a face of intense concentration on something in your lap. Sukuna sits up now, wondering what you’ve found that’s captured your whole attention.
You don’t notice the large body approaching you until he’s stood directly before you, his shadow falling over your sitting form. You look up at him and watch as he slowly crouches down before you, eyes not leaving the pencil and notepad in your hands.
Your ears heat as you remember the last time he crouched before you, eyes flitting to the now clothed place between his legs before you gulp and shake your head to clear your mind of such thoughts.
He’s very close. Leaning forward into your personal space with a suspicious look in his gaze as he eyes your writing utensil, you slightly lean back to give yourself some much-needed room.
“Uh… I’m just writing what I’ve observed so far. Like your shelter and stuff…” You wince at the awkwardness of your explanation, knowing he doesn’t understand a word.
His stares at the pointed lead, so you hold it up in front of his face. “Pencil”, you say, “to write.”
With a cautious hand, he reaches for it and with surprising gentleness, grasps it between his thick fingers. You watch his expression change from suspicion to curiosity as he twists and prods at the item. His eyes flit to the notepad next, and you have a feeling he wants it next but won’t ask.
You can’t help but laugh lightly at his curiosity, likening him to a demanding toddler. He glances up at you at the sound, catching the smile on your face. You show him the notepad, describing and motioning how it’s used in tandem with the pencil. He gets comfortable, crossing his thick legs as he replicates your writing motions with jerky hands, scribbling a line into the paper.
Given the chance to be so close to him for the first time, you finally get a closer look at his face and notice how handsome he is despite his peculiar anatomy. He has a blunt, strong nose that looks like it’s been broken a couple times. All four eyes were red, the smaller, ordinary left eyes were slightly hooded, giving him a perpetually bored look while the bulging, vertical eyes on the right seemed sharp. The markings on his face were like a map, leading your eyes from his cheekbones to his lips to his chin. You eye the plate covering the right side of his face, and without thinking you reach out to touch it.
Your fingers are just an inch away from brushing his skin when you feel his rough hand clasp around your fingers, stopping you. He doesn’t stop doodling, and while his focus is still on getting his grip on the pencil right, both right eyes peer at you with a warning before letting go.
You gulp. You want to touch him but he’s clearly still wary of you. What you don’t know is that Sukuna would have sliced off your hand with his spear had it been anyone else, but even he cut you some slack knowing you’re just a dumb outsider who doesn’t know any better.
You have an idea. Maybe you can barter with him, a sort of I’ll show you mine if you show me yours type of thing. You reach into your toolbelt and pull out your flashlight, holding it up to his face with an impish smile. He forgets about his doodles as his attention zeros in on the new toy. You press the button with a click and the bulb inside illuminates. He flinches and his eyes widen in alarm, a lower hand tightening around his spear. But when nothing else happens, he settles down and reaches for it. You go through some other tools with him, pulling item after item out of your toolbelt like a magician fascinating a child. Sukuna looks both mesmerized and overwhelmed at the same time, and you snicker as he lays out the items in front of him on the ground, but you decide to cash in as you snatch them up quickly and put them away.
He shoots you a look and you just shrug, pointing to his spear.
Ah, he gets it.
He begrudgingly picks it up and drops it in front of you. You go to excitedly pick it up, but holy crap it’s heavy. You manage to lift it, but not without effort. He chortles at your struggle, eye brow raising at the realization that you really are weak, and he wonders if you’d even be able to take on the kids in the group (you wouldn’t).
You write down everything about his weapon too, the weight, shape, material – some type of ivory shaved into a fine point, and move onto your next specimen.
You point to his face. Specifically the plate.
His face immediately falls, expression now averse. He hesitates, but you hold up the pencil as a reminder of all the cool new things he can play with, and with an overwhelming reluctance and a grimace, he dips his head towards you.
He watches your gleeful face with annoyance as you reach out to gently grab at the skin. He bristles, arms folded across his chest and teeth grit while you feel up his face, fingers running along the edges in wonder. The skin spread taught over what seems to be a plate of overgrown bone attached to the front of his skull. You pull and push at the plate, watch how his head follows the motion before shaking it with both hands. He grunts and swats your hands away at that, huffing as he gets up and stalks towards the shore, spear in hand.
Welp, you think, playtime’s over.
He sheds his furs before slowly wading into the water, and you admire his strong, round ass as he lifts his spear high into the air, waits, and then strikes with lightning speed. Your eyes widen when he flings three large fish towards where you sit, all speared through with the same strike, all lethal efficiency. He repeats the same motion a couple more times and you watch with a dropped jaw, amazed at how effortless he makes it look. You realize the carcass he flung into the water earlier must have been bait, and he wasn’t just lounging around wasting time earlier, he was waiting for enough fish to gather to have a sizable haul. You do what you can to help, wincing in disgust as you slowly gather up the scaly fish and huddle them into a pile for him to take care of.
You ogle him as he wades out of the shallows, water dripping off his muscled arms and chest heaving from the exertion. You clear your throat awkwardly and turn before your eyes betray you and ravage his lower half, allowing him a minute to redress. He walks over to where you neatly piled the fish, and with some woven string wrapped around his staff he begins to weave it through the puncture wounds, binding the fish together and hauling it over his shoulder. You begin following him back to the direction of the camp, but he abruptly stops causing you to bump into his back and subsequently – the fish.
“Blegh – Ew,” your face is scrunched as you wipe the dampness on your cheek left behind by tonight’s soon to be dinner, not noticing the man’s eyes following what stopped him in the first place. His head turns, body slowly following like a man possessed.
“Hey, wait!” You scramble to catch up with his long strides, but it’s easy this time as he walks erratically passed the treeline, pausing and then resuming in the opposite direction of the camp. “What are you doing?”
He pays you little mind, eyes honed in front of him, and you follow his gaze to a flower. The fattest, fuzziest bee you’ve ever seen in your life sits collecting pollen, before buzzing off on paper-thin wings that you know defy the laws of aerodynamics. In a blink, your caveman is off, following the bee so as not to lose sight of it and once again leaving you to scramble behind.
The two of you silently follow the bee for a few kilometers through the forest, and you fall into an easy rhythm beside him after a while, anticipating his movements.
Finally you stop at the base of a tall, nimble tree and both your eyes drift up, up following the buzzing as the bee rejoins his companions high above your heads. The beehive hung in beautiful, layered honeycombs, all golden and uneven.
He licks his lips, gazing wistfully up at the beehive. You watch him scale the base of the tree, hands gauging the strength of the lower branches before deciding they wouldn’t be able to hold his weight. Recalibrating, he leans back and lifts his spear, aiming at the hive to see how much force he’d need in his swing. Sighing, he sets it down knowing his brutish method would lead to ruined honey and the two of you being swarmed by the pests.
He mutters in defeat and turns to head back, glancing over his shoulder this time to make sure you’re there.
He seems more relaxed on his way back, so you try talking to him some more.
You say your name while pointing to yourself, and motion to him next with a questioning look. He blankly looks back at you.
You try again, saying your name slowly, even fishing the pencil out and repeating what it’s called, then motion towards him once more.
He stays silent for a bit, letting you babble on. When you approach the clearing past the treeline by the camp, he finally speaks.
“Sukuna.”
You turn and tilt your head, tasting the word on your tongue. “Sukuna?” You question.
He nods once and confirms, “Sukuna.”
He watches from the corner of his eye as a wide smile takes over your face, happy to have finally made some linguistic progress with him, even if you don’t know what a ‘Sukuna’ is.

Warnings: NSFW🔞, inmate!Sukuna, anal sex, reader is Sukuna’s prison bitch, he uses you like a toy, reader is a fem woman disguised as a man in prison, power play, dub con-ish (he’s quite rough), overstimulation, idk this is a very long fic
The guard guiding you to your cell snorts when you ask if you’ll have your own space. You can’t exactly explain to him that you’re a woman disguised as a man and need your privacy. Perhaps you’re in over your head.
You gulp as you peek around the loud prison. Large men stare as you pass by. It’s clear they’ve made this place like home, clothes lines full of laundry, some playing card games, comfy slippers, lounging on the tables or mingling about.
“Here you are,” the guard stops in front of an open cell, rolling out his hand, “your penthouse suite.”
It looks like a stale dorm room for the most part. Two metal single beds, a metal toilet, two desks. And zero privacy.
Your supposed cellmate is doing pull ups on a makeshift bar in the middle of the room. His large bare, tatted back faces you, bulging arms, baggy sweatpants, and a head of pure pink hair. He’s grunting with every pull up, but they still seem chillingly effortless.
The guard leans his shoulder against the doorway. “Ryomen,” he whistles loudly as if to get a bull’s attention. “Got a new friend for you.”
Your eyes flick from the amused guard to your new ‘friend’ who gets one last pull-up in before dropping two socked feet to the ground with a grunt. You swear the fucking ground rumbles. He turns towards you and your knees wobble as his shadow over takes you.
Red eyes. Half of his face is mutilated, marred by a fire from long ago, you can surmise. His face tattoos match his body. He’s tall, you wouldn’t even be able to reach the height of his makeshift pull-up bar on the tips of your toes.
You stiffen as he sizes you up like the other inmates did on your way in. You hope you wrapped your chest tight enough. A woman in an all male prison? Not a good idea for too many reasons.
“Hi—” you clear your throat of the high pitched tone, adopting a fake, deeper one, “Hey, bro. It’s uh— cool to meet you— or whatever.”
You could slap yourself. Who are you kidding? You don’t know how to talk like a guy. You should have told Gojo ‘No, no amount of money would make me spend a year in a male prison.’ You shouldn’t have drank so much and stupidly agreed that night at the bar, because now, the best case scenario here is that the guard takes you away and they throw the real you into a women’s prison for trying to ‘fool the system.’
The man takes a step forward, and you’re already tensing for a blow— but he just shoulder checks you on the way out. You stumble a little, immediately going to rub your shoulder.
The guard looks properly amused, holding back a laugh. “Here,” he kicks off the wall, pushing some supplies into your arms. Another guard must have handed these over to him as you greeted your cellmate.
“Have fun,” he makes his brows jump and moseys away.
You deeply exhale through the nerves in your chest, walking towards your bed, if you can even call it that. You drop the supplies onto the thin mattress. Sheets, blanket, toothbrush, etc.
You’ve never been one to pray, but you’re considering it right about now. You shake your head and give yourself something to do: put on your sheets, organize the few toiletries you have on your desk.
After fifteen minutes, some kind of bell rings through the prison and you watch inmates filter out of their cells.
You stand and lean out of the cell curiously. You catch one of them muttering about ‘green beans’ and you realize it’s dinner time.
You enter the crowded mess hall and you’re immediately overwhelmed, clattering trays and chaos. The smell of old meatloaf and sweaty man fills the room.
You keep your head down as you get in line, adopting a slight slouch in hopes to avoid accidental eye contact that could be perceived as a threat. The second you’re pulled into something like a violent altercation, you’ll likely be exposed as a woman quite fast.
Dinner is slop with a side of slop on a metal tray, and you’re realizing why Gojo wanted to avoid this place so adamantly. A fucking paid vacation, he’d said.
You scan the mess hall with the tray in your hands, heart racing.
You spot two guards leaning against the entrance, watching you with amusement— like they’re waiting to see what happens to you, who will pick the runt of the litter. You’re the entertainment. You must look like a little meek boy, shaking in your boots.
It’s packed. Big men in little stools. It reminds you of highschool clicks but worse. You spot your pink haired cellmate, sat alone at the only empty table, but one mean glance up with those red eyes and you’re searching elsewhere.
“Who do we have here?” A deep voice sings as a heavy arm drops around your shoulders.
You glance up at him to see a blue haired man with scars all over his body, like he’d previously had poorly done stitches. He smiles at you with dead eyes.
Some of his friends surround the two of you, bored and idle— but their bulky presence only makes you nervous.
“Need somewhere to sit?” he hums tauntingly, tilting his head down to your level. “My name’s Mahito.”
“Oh, I—”
“Shhh little pet, I’ve got you now. I’ll take you under my wing! You don’t even have to thank me or anything.” His smile makes your spine tense with chills as he moves to stand in front of you.
Do you have another choice? You’re afraid of offending him and his scary friends if you decline.
Mahito continues, as if your acceptance is a given. “Let’s just get some things straight before—”
He’s interrupted by a large fist slamming into his jaw, knocking him right off his feet and onto his ass. Your hands tense around your tray, eyes wide as your gaze snaps to see who just punched Mahito into a limp, dream state.
It’s your pink haired cellmate, looking down at his victim while ringing out his fist like it’s just another Tuesday.
Fights must be common around here, because when you look around, no one seems surprised. Most of the men just mind their business and continue eating their food. Even the two guards are whistling, turning the other cheek.
You gulp. Mahito’s friends don’t even try to defend him, they just back away— like hyenas in the presence of a lion. You hear one of them mutter a name, ‘Sukuna.’
You wonder if anyone is even going to bring Mahito to the infirmary, but when Sukuna’s roaming gaze sweeps over you, all thoughts freeze in fear.
You hold his gaze a beat too long, unsure, until you see a flicker in his expression, a subtle tightening of the corner of his eyes. In a breath, you fold inward, chin dipping down to your chest in retreat.
He breaks the tension first, adjusting his neck as he turns away. He settles back into his seat with his meal, relaxed and borderline bored.
You have no clue what his intentions are, or what saving you signifies. Regardless, you’re relived to not sit with Mahito.
With no other option, you inch your way over to the only empty table where Sukuna sits. He remains focused on his food, ignoring your presence completely as you sit as far away as possible— on the literal side edge of the seat.
You cautiously take a bite, peeking at him defensively, but he remains indifferent.

Lights out, 9:10 pm.
You lay in your uncomfortable little bed, staring at the dirty ceiling. The cell door clanged shut at exactly 9 pm and when the guard made his final round, flashlight shining through the corridor— he passed by with a slow, deliberate glance followed by a wink that made you feel uncomfortable.
You can’t sleep, tossing and turning for 10 minutes. You shift on your side, unable to lay in one position for longer than two minutes due to this stone of a mattress.
“Quit. Moving.”
You freeze at the demand coming from your cellmate, who probably hasn’t been able to sleep with all of your loud movement.
“Sorry,” you chirp quietly, pressing your lips together between your teeth.
He exhales, deeply. You peek at him and he’s facing the opposite wall, naked back towards you.
You don’t know prison etiquette, are you meant to do something specific if someone saves you from a group of scary individuals like he did earlier? Maybe give him half of your lunch from now on or he’ll take you into the back and beat the teeth out of you?
“Um,” you whisper, practicing your ‘boy’ voice.
You feel the energy in the room shift, like when you were a child sharing a bunk with your sibling and you’d start spouting nonsense to each other after 3am.
“Thank you.”
You feel relief when a silent moment passes, maybe he’s asleep and didn’t hear you, because now that you’ve actually said it, you regret it. How stupid and naive could you be? You reckon gratitude like this may not apply in prison.
He grunts as he adjusts his position, and you cringe at the ceiling, subtly inching your thin blanket up to your chin. Oh. He definitely heard you.
You nod off after too many minutes of silence and you wake in the morning to the sound of the breakfast bell. You all but squeal opening your eyes to see your sweaty cellmate looming over your bed.
You quickly clear your throat, sitting up and glancing around at your surroundings. You kick your ‘boy’ voice up, trying to recover from your girly scream. “Morning.”
He throws a small towel over his shoulder and walks off, unbothered by the strangeness of standing over someone’s bed before they’ve even awoken.
Your breast wraps are still in tact when you peek down under your shirt, so you don’t think he saw anything he wasn’t supposed to.
Breakfast is uneventful, thankfully. Mahito, who has fresh dark bruises along his face, doesn’t even look your way. You sit alone at Sukuna’s table, the same acceptable distance as before.
Things are just okay, you think.
That is, apart from the whole using the bathroom thing. You’ve been putting it off. But, it’s unavoidable.
After breakfast, you peek into your cell where the shared toilet is, only to see Sukuna casually reading a scroll with one hand and doing one armed push ups with the other. The image of using the toilet in here makes your face sour. That’d be a type of humiliation you’d rather avoid, and that’s not even accounting for keeping your gender a secret.
Instead, you settle for the shared bathrooms connected to the showers in one large tiled, communal room.
Standing in front of the toilet stall, you curse Gojo’s entire family line. Because of course the stalls don’t have doors. Somewhere far away, Gojo suddenly feels shivers race down his spine in the middle of his little mochi date.
Apart from the unsettling experience of using the bathroom surrounded by large men shaving and brushing their teeth, you overheard interesting information as you did your business. You had to translate male prison gossip lingo, but apparently Sukuna and Mahito’s little altercation yesterday wasn’t random.
They have history. Something about ‘daring to touching his soul’ — whatever that means. You think soul is code for a drug supply, maybe.
Yesterday’s incident was a ‘checking’ as your fellow inmates say. Mahito was trying to force you, someone weak and new, into his group, which made him look strong among the lower ranks. But when Sukuna stepped in, punching his lights out in front of everyone, it was a show of power.
Mahito dominates people like you, small and submissive by nature, to stay on top, but Sukuna operates on a whole nother level. In that simple act, he showed everyone that you’re on the bottom, people like Mahito are in the middle, and Sukuna reigns on top.
You’re already cringing at your naivety thanking him last night, like he was some knight in shining armor.
Once you get back to your cell, Sukuna’s still reading, this time, sat on his bed all glistening with sweat having finished his workout.
You ignore your nerves walking past him to sit on your own bed with your back against the wall.
You’d scored a notebook and pen from the recreation room, and begin idly drawing the time away. Seeing how he’s the only thing there is to draw in this place, you start sketching Sukuna’s profile.
His nose is particularly a unique shape, reminiscent of the Greek God statues. You glance up for the millionth time to get the particular slope of his bridge committed to memory, and startle to see him looking back at you with a glare.
You slouch into yourself, your face growing hot having been caught staring and you force your eyes back down.
“You keep thinking you’re allowed to do that.”
Your heart rate kicks up at his scary gravelly tone, like a demon having come back to life in the form of his vocal cords. You naively thought he didn’t notice your glances, since he never even spared you a look.
“Sorry,” you mutter quietly.
“Look at me,” he demands in a way that you wouldn’t dare consider disobeying. Fuck. You were hoping he’d just let it be.
You clench your eyes shut for a brief moment, squeezing your pen in your palm before slowly sitting up and peering at him.
“Pitiful. Truly.” He scoffs, looking at your entire form with disgust. “Do you have no honor? Stand.”
You hesitate, gaze flicking, feeling like you’re playing a game of simon says.
“I said,” his tone rumbles as he moves to sit at the edge of his bed, chin resting on his fist, “stand.”
A passing inmate side eyes your open cell, but he minds his business as if it holds a sleeping monster within.
You gently toss your notebook to the side and your brows twitch as you push yourself up to stand, socked feet meeting the cold floor.
You aren’t even sure if you’re meant to be looking at him still, gaze uncertain.
“Now kneel.”
A flashback of how hard Sukuna’s fist met the bone of Mahito’s jaw makes you slowly bend and drop to your knees.
You spot a flicker of satisfaction in his eyes before a judgmental expression takes over, like your obedience is simultaneously sickening and mandatory to him.
“You hold your head quite high,” he hints at your lack of respect, and if putting your forehead on the dirty floor is all he makes you do for disrespectfully staring, you’d probably be lucky.
Your brows pinch in a pout, grossed out with the prospect of it but still, you inch your head down.
“Good,” he drawls the word out with a whispery rasp, “Go on. All the way down.”
Once you’re in a fully seated bow, like a servant in the old ages, he exhales slow and deep. Cathartically.
A long moment passes with his red eyes on the back of your head. The floor smells like dirt and a trace of bleach. You’re completely vulnerable in his position, with the back of your neck exposed and blinded.
Honestly, you’re wondering if Sukuna is still there. It’s so quiet, all you can hear is the subtle mumble of the others outside of the cell in the main area and the tick of the clock.
You prepare to speak by taking in a small breath, and that’s all it takes for Sukuna to snap at you.
“Did I say you could speak?”
You gulp.
“You’re new,” he complains, “The next time you disobey me, you won’t enjoy what I do.”
You hear the bed creak from him standing, but he doesn’t take a step in any direction. Just stands above you.
“Lick the floor.”
Your lips part in shock, blinking at the floor in confusion. You can’t even begin to imagine the disgusting things that line this floor after decades of men coming in and out. You’ve seen the guy who cleans the floors, he’s blind— literally. Humiliation is the only benefit to making someone do something like this, to knock them back into their place. You don’t have another choice.
“Show me,” he snaps, making you flinch. “Your tongue.”
Fuck this place, you obey. Slip your tongue out and slide it against the floor, eyes clenched shut to cope with the taste of everything horrible and bitter.
Pushing your palms to the floor, you lift your head, giving him the pathetic display of your twitching tongue.
The light above halo’s his pink head like a dark angel, and you see his lips curl into a diabolical smile. Pleased with your submission.
He squats, lining his mouth to your ear— not touching, but close enough to hear. “The hell are you looking at?”
Your eyes clench shut as fast as his words come out and you almost flinch when you feel the tip of his finger brush against your clavicle. Your breast wrap is right there—not impossibly close, but too close for comfort. It’s like he’s bringing attention to how frail your bones are, brushing the bone so lightly.
“Speak.”
“You— I’m sorry,” is all you know to spit out around the taste of the bitter floor in your mouth.
He tuts like your answer is just average, a boring C- at best. It seems to be all you know how to say, that and thank you.
“I don’t want trouble— I didn’t know I couldn’t look at you,” you stupidly explain.
“Have a little crush on me?”
You gulp, shaking your head. “N-No.”
He stands. “Why are you here?”
“Because you told me to—” your uncertain gaze flicks around his face but never connects to his eyes.
He interrupts you, repeating himself in a rougher tone, “Why are you here?”
You realize he’s asking why you were locked up.
“Speak. My impatience is not passive you’ll soon find out,” he snaps at you when you don’t immediately answer.
“I— I lost a bet. I needed money.” Technically not a lie, but you can see how your words imply that you robbed someone or something.
He uses a socked foot to nudge at your tummy, and you tense, praying he doesn’t lift it or lower it in either direction.
You’re bracing for a kick, a shove, something. Instead, he simply runs his foot down your abdomen until his toes brush the clothed skin above your pussy. You shiver in anticipated worry, looking up at him through your lashes like he’s a god given the right to deciding your fate.
Just when you think this is it, he’s going to push just an inch lower and notice your lack of dick— he loudly sniffles and walks out like nothing happened.
________________
Later, 11:25 am.
Your one reprieve after your humiliating morning is the library. Everyone has a job in prison— a 0.25$ paying job— but it’s better than nothing. You’d been lucky to land a job sorting books. Pushing a little cart around, organizing the collection of educational texts, self-help, religious, even things like the hunger games— it was nice.
That is, until your heart drops down to your ass when Sukuna pushes you against the shelf, chest pressing into your back.
You gasp, dropping the book in your grasp. Your mind immediately flicks to movies you’ve seen, involving a homemade shiv and a lot of blood, people who have nothing to lose and kill just for the hell of it. You’re an easy target too, smaller than the rest.
“You’re welcome,” he says casually into your ear. He’s not even pushing into you in an overtly sexual manner, just pinning you to the shelves.
You knew he was awake last night. But, he definitely didn’t intentionally protect you from Mahito, no, it had nothing to do with you. He’s taunting you.
You let out a shaky breath, daring to speak just above a whisper. “F—for what?”
“This is how it’s going to work,” he explains, hard hand gripping the back of your neck, “I’m going to fuck your ass, use you until that gratitude dries up and in return— no one will touch you.”
Oh shit. Your face pales. He’s explaining the concept of being a ‘bitch’ to you because it’s your first time in prison. Was it that obvious? (Yes.)
You let out a fearful whine under your breath, so quiet, but being so close, he hears it.
“What’s wrong? Thought you wanted to thank me,” he mocks you, hot breath fanning your ear. Maybe in another universe, you’d beg the domineering man fuck you— as you. But if you want your gender to remain a secret in here, you have no choice but to get out of this.
“I— but,” You grip the shelf harshly, thinking of any excuse, “I’m a virgin!”
A pause. Did that actually work? You’re not an actual virgin, but you’ve never done anal— technically not a lie.
Your bated breath halts when he lets out a boisterous laugh. “Oh?” he drawls like a king on a throne.
You can almost guarantee he feels your heart thumping through your fucking back.
“You’re just a hole. Meant for use. Doesn’t matter to me, I truly don’t care.”
“I— please, I can’t do that for you. I want to— I really want to! But I can’t,” you breathe, hoping you haven’t offended his ego— which you assume is larger than this building. You want to be able to say yes, just so that you don’t have a target on your back.
“Tch,” he clicks in distaste, “I won’t injure you. Is that enough to address your concerns?” You think he mutters a ‘loser’ under his breath but you aren’t sure.
The fact that he’s even trying to quell your fears is surprising, and gives you a spec of hope. It also allows you to consider the idea of what his protection in exchange would mean. Everyone clearly fears Sukuna, you’d get through this year untouched— aside from the obvious.
“Uh—uhm,” you gulp, side glancing back at him as much as his grip will allow. “I’m insecure about uh.. my dick.”
His brows lower into a furrow, looking at you with judgement. “Fine,” he rolls his eyes, “your little cock won’t come out of its confines. Satisfied?”
Are you actually going to do this? Can you even pull this off? The fact that this man even wants to fuck you in the first place is completely out of the blue. You knew things like this happened in here, but from this guy?
You shift. “Why do you want this— with me?”
“I’m not gay,” he scoffs, “Fool. I simply need a flesh light.”
“Oh, and,” he pushes his nose into your head, behind your ear, and sniffs, “you smell nice, like a woman.”
You shiver. It’s horrifying that he can actually smell that on you without knowing it.
“Deal?”
You clench your eyes shut and nod.
He finally pushes off of you and mutters a ‘good’ before walking away and out of the library.
___________
You’ve never been one for the concept of anal. You’d glare whenever a boyfriend would even bring it up. It’s always felt inconsiderate, like you’re just being used when a more pleasurable hole is right there. You’re kind of nervous, but part of you is relieved.
Since you made the deal, Sukuna has ‘claimed’ you. He makes you grab his meals for him, sit across from him in the cafeteria, visible signs of ownership. The other inmates avoid you completely; even a minor bump into your shoulder in passing earns an apology. You’re his now, and everyone knows it. Off limits.
As for your end of the deal, you aren’t sure when Sukuna is going to be in the mood to fuck. You’ve been stealing peeks at him, watching too closely, hoping for a signal, but Sukuna noticed. After that time you practically jumped when he stood up from his bed, he gave you a glare that made your knees weak. Instead, you’ve decided to just wait for him to tell you when he’s ready.
A few days after your library talk, Sukuna finally gives you the signal.
It’s morning, and you wake to see him hovering over your bed once again.
You startle, sitting up quickly as you rub your eyes. “Wh— what happened?”
He tosses you a little bag of chips, the type you can only get from the confectionery, and your brows furrow down at it.
“Um,” you glance at him, unsure, “thank you.” It sounds more like a question than a statement.
“Library, 12 pm. There’s a spot with no cameras in the back.”
Your eyes flicker in recognition, and your heart races as you nod. “Okay, I’ll— um— I’ll be there. That’s great. Sounds good.”
He deadpans at your pathetic attempt at speaking and walks off.
You can’t help but feel a weird affection placing the bag of chips under your bed, rolling your eyes at yourself. It’s a bag of chips, and you have more to worry about than catching feelings for this guy.
You have to prep.
The communal showers are sectioned by half walls and curtains. You’ve been able to shower, dry yourself, wrap your breasts, and get dressed all inside of the little shower section without anyone seeing your important body parts since you’ve been here. Still, you’d rather some privacy as you do what needs to be done today.
Thankfully, it’s empty when you check the showers while breakfast is taking place.
You stand there naked under the water, toes curling in nerves as you slowly bring the empty bottle up to fill it with water. A homemade douche. It’s mildly humiliating shooting water up your ass but it’s a necessary evil.
About a few hours later, you’re sorting books like your job entails, while anxiously glancing at the door and wall clock every two minutes with anticipation.
At 12:03 he pushes the door open, and you immediately turn your head back to face the shelves.
You hear him snap at the only person reading at a table, forcing them to leave. Your heart races when you hear him lock the entrance door behind them.
You stupidly pretend you’re deciding which shelf the book in your hands belongs on as his heavy footsteps close the distance between you.
He settles right beside you and you peek up at him.
“Come.” He nods his head, gesturing you to follow as he turns and leads you to the last isle, all the way to the back of the room.
“Right here?” You glance at the camera in the corner.
“Right here.”
You gasp when he grabs your hips and manhandles you over to the very corner of the isle, pressed into the shelf with your back to him. “It’s a blind spot.”
“Okay,” you lick your lips nervously, fumbling with the hem of your sweatpants. “I— how do we— should I just—?”
He squeezes his big hands over your shaky ones, stopping you. “Relax,” he snaps. “Ass fucking is not that difficult. It’ll be a lot easier for you than it is for women.”
You gulp at that, his (rude) reassurance means nothing considering the obvious.
He swats your hands away and you squeak when he pulls your sweatpants down enough to expose your ass to the chilly air.
You curiously glance back when you hear a click of a cap opening. He squirts an ungodly amount of lube into his palm and tosses it aside. (How did he even obtain lube in here?)
“Pretty fucking ass,” he says as if it’s an insult, using one hand to spread your cheek and slide a glob onto your hole with two fingers.
You cringe at the cold feeling of the gel as he rubs your hole, anticipating him shoving his finger in there.
“It’s gonna hurt,” you say wearily, “right?”
He rolls his eyes, using his middle finger to push at the resistance of the rim.
You gasp when it pops in. He slowly massages your insides in a manner to loosen the very edges, preparing the most taught of the muscles to stretch. It’s more weird than uncomfortable feeling something wiggling around in there.
“You’re lucky I’m doing this,” he rasps, “Virgin.”
“Thank you,” you squeak. He uses his free hand to shove your hips out a bit more.
He whispers as he pulls his finger out, “How’s it feel knowing you’re about to get fucked in the ass? Feel the shame yet?”
You gulp and clench your eyes shut when you catch a glimpse of his hefty cock being pulled out of his sweats. A large, scary winding vein catches your eye.
“Slow,” you chirp as he presses the tip to your ass, “please go slow.”
He notches his chin over your head, wrapping one arm around your tummy to push your back into his chest and grunts, “I will.”
His large body envelops you, like a hard hug. If it weren’t for his tip forcing your asshole to open up, you’d probably enjoy being held by a big man like this.
You hiss, unable to keep your hands from snapping back and digging your nails into his hips. The intrusion is uncomfortable, so odd and unnatural to have something this big pushing into your backside.
He doesn’t seem to mind your nails, undulating the tip around in circles within the very inside so you can get used to the feeling.
“That’s it,” he drawls, “open up.”
You let out a high-pitched whine and your ‘boy’ persona is thrown out of the window, completely irrelevant as he inches the rest of it in. He’s fully seated.
“Okay, okay,” you gasp, frantically tapping his hip and toned back, “don’t move yet.”
He exhales deeply, like he feels relaxed having finally mounted a warm hole. His warm huffs of breath calm you as they steadily fan the side of your head.
“Tick tock,” he hums after a minute of your hole pulsing around him in attempt to cope with the intrusion. “It will hurt less if I move.”
“Fuck,” you whimper, shaky hands moving to brace against the shelves. “Okay, fine.”
“Good.” He wraps one hand roughly around your mouth and his other arm holds your midsection taut to his front.
You squeal behind his hand when he pulls out and barrels back in with one hard rut. It hurts, but somehow, his large dick has reached your g-spot through your ass. You likely have a bulge in your tummy from the way his tip is angled to push down against your vaginal canal through the back door.
“Ahhh.” He tilts his head and rumbles an exhales right into your ear, like he’s dipping into a nice, warm hot-spring.
It doesn’t take long for him to set a rhythm, rocking his hips in short, hard thrusts. The contact of your cheeks meeting his hips creates a loud ‘plap,’ bouncing off the books in lewd repetition. His harsh breaths are the most you receive from him in terms of vocalized pleasure, but sometimes he offers a grunt.
Your feet shuffle with every hit, toes barely touching the ground as his strong hold keeps you up in the air like you’re just a human sized flesh light. He’s using you, and you can’t deny his incidental abuse of your g-spot feels good.
“You moan like a fuckin girl,” he hisses into your ear as he pounds your ass.
You can only moan under his palm, confirming his what he thinks is an insult. The jackhammering is short and mean, barely a few inches of his base exiting your puckering hole before stuffing it back inside.
“This ass is mine,” he grunts as your clit throbs with need, “Pathetic fuck. Letting a guy bend you over.”
Your legs shake as he grows frantic and mean, putting horrifying strength behind each thrust. You’re fucking like bunnies, your body frantically jostles up and down and you’d be embarrassed if it weren’t for how he’s completely dominating you. A few books fall right off of the shelf and clatter to the carpeted floor with the force of it all. You wonder if he’s fucking you this hard because he thinks you’re a man, that you can and should be able to handle it.
You exhale sharply out of your nose, eyes clenched shut as you take his last few slams.
“Fuck!” He grunts, throwing his head back as his grip on you grows so harsh you’ll have bruises on your waist later. You feel his dick pulse as he dumps his load as deep as he can go into your ass, keeping his hips still against your irritated asscheeks.
Finally he sighs as he slides out, making your hole clench shut the second the intrusion is gone.
You practically stumble for balance as he lets you go, knees buckling. Pussy dripping and confused while your ass aches.
You want to just collapse right here, take a much needed rest, but you can’t risk an accidental flash of your pussy. You pull your sweatpants up, out of breath.
He tucks his dick back in, glancing down at you with a glow of physical relief on his face. “You took me well,” he licks his top teeth, tilting his head. “Did you enjoy getting your cherry popped?”
That was almost a compliment. Your insides are still screaming for an orgasm and a break simultaneously. You feel your face rise in temp, pathetically, and you can’t help but tuck your chin to your chest.
“Just fucked you and you’re getting shy.” He snickers with a look of disgust. “I think i’ll play with you again and again until I tire of this.”
He doesn’t even give you a chance to respond before moseying out of the library, adjusting his dick in his pants as he goes.
Somehow, you’d gotten away with the first fucking without revealing your secret. Aside from not having a chance to finish the job and rub yourself to a much needed orgasm, you’re quite proud of yourself.
Sukuna doesn’t speak to you more than usual following the act, he’s just not the type. Does one speak to their flesh light between uses?
That night, you almost believe you’re dreaming when you wake up to Sukuna’s weight lying directly on top of you. You couldn’t sleep comfortably on your sore ass, so you’d had to sleep on your tummy, giving him a perfect opportunity.
“Again,” he rasps into your ear, grinding against your ass. You must have done well earlier if he’s already back for more, or he’s fond of how your asshole feels.
You tiredly whine and lower your groggy tone to say, “But the guards will hear— and the others.”
He ignores your concerns and crawls down your body, yanking your sweats down. You squeak, pushing a hand under yourself to keep your pants up at the front.
You glance over your shoulder. “What are you— oh!”
He spreads your ass and licks a stripe up your asshole, terrifyingly close to your pussy. So close your pussy clenches in anticipation, having a sweet mind of its own.
He pauses as he looks down at your hole with furrowed brows. It’s dark enough that he won’t be able to see the feminine parts of you, you hope.
He doesn’t say a word about his pause, just brings his face back down and pushes his tongue into your ass. He wriggles it around and you cringe, gripping the sheets as he stimulates your sore hole. You can’t even tell if it feels good to have your ass ate, or if it’s the concept of this man with his face in your ass, or the fact that you’re just fucking horny and begging for scraps.
After one last lick from your hole all the way up to your lower back, he crawls up to lay on you with his lips to your ear.
“Why the fuck is your ass sweet?” he asks as he lifts his hips to yank his cock out. Your brows raise, almost letting out a snicker. It must be due to your pussy leaking wetness down to your ass all day since the library.
“I— I don’t know,” you mumble as he holds one of your cheeks open and slides his tip against your hole.
“Just,” he grunts as he pops the tip in, not even waiting before pushing in to the hilt, “stay quiet and I’ll be done in a second.”
You whine under your breath, fisting the sheets as your toes curl. His legs surround the outsides of yours as his arms wrap around your neck in a loose headlock. You aren’t sure you can stay quiet if he pounds you like he did before without his hand covering your mouth. Getting caught with his dick in your ass doesn’t sound so great.
But fuck, you suddenly don’t care because his abs clench as he lifts his hips and slides back in, already gaining a stead rhythm. It’s slower than before, but hard. Your eyes roll back at how passionate it is, fingers pressing into his pulsing arms around your neck. You can’t remember the last time a man truly put his heart into fucking you.
You think you may be able to enjoy this little arrangement after all, considering his dick is big enough to pound into your g-spot with every hump. Maybe his claim on you, the free use of it all, is charming too.
But then, he begins to slide a hand down under you and you freeze.
He’s reaching for your nonexistent dick.
You snap your hand down to grip his wrist, stopping him, but you know that he could bypass your frail hold if he really wanted to.
“D-Don’t touch,” you breathily murmur through his continued thrusts.
“Tch,” he grunts in distaste, “Won’t see your ugly dick. You should be thanking the gods that I’d even try to touch you.”
You wish you could allow him to touch, rub your clit, finger you, fuck you the proper way. But no matter how horny you are, you have to have a clear head about this. If he knew you were a woman, he could tell the guards— or worse, tell the other inmates and let them have a turn with you. That’s just the tip of the iceberg of the horrible things that could happen to you if you’re exposed.
“I know, I know,” you gulp, lips parting as he manages a particularly nice thrust, “just— next time. Okay? Next time.”
He huffs, exasperated and gives up, moving his hand away and instead uses it to dig into your hip to get a better angle.
“Fuuck,” you breathe in a particularly girly way as he reaches deeper, and he hisses in your ear in obvious pleasure. He seems to enjoy the way you ‘moan like a woman.’
“Good,” he thrusts, “little,” thrust, “hole.”
He cums with a last few pitiful humps and rubs his hips against your ass in a circle as if to make sure his cum is deeep in there.
You feel utterly spent when he pulls out, two loads in your ass just from today and you’re clocking out.
He doesn’t even give you another look as he gets up and stretches with a yawn, wet dick still hanging about his thigh.
You pull your sweats up with a grimace at how sore your asshole feels. If you weren’t so horny, you might be annoyed how beat up your insides feel.
You exhale in relief when he passes out the second he flops down into bed like any average man does. You’re already thinking of some way to fool him into thinking you have a cock by the next time he wants to fuck.
_______
You’ve stolen a cucumber from the kitchen. It wasn’t easy, but you managed.
Sukuna has you up against the cell bars and has grown quite confident in his ability to fuck you within an inch of your life. He doesn’t seem like he’s all that invested in you, after all, he still thinks of you as some boy he’s using to get off. But you’re still enjoying it as much as any woman can reasonably enjoy anal.
He definitely seems to enjoy fucking you too, because you can feel his thighs shake as he pounds into you.
He kicks your feet wider and reaches around you to grab at your ‘dick.’ “Gonna let me touch it now?”
You gulp, peeking down at his hand that finds the cucumber and grips it.
“Jesus Christ, you’re fucking hard.”
You would laugh in his face if he wasn’t obliterating your insides with heavy humps.
He slowly begins to knead your ‘cock’ and the only way you know that, is because the tip of the cucumber incidentally rubs against your clit with every one of his strokes.
“Oh shit,” you breathe, brows raising and blinking into an eye roll of surprise pleasure. The stimulation to your clit and g-spot is like heaven after two days of being pent up.
“Don’t— don’t stop,” you beg, making his brow quirk.
The second you start fucking back into his cock, like an auto-masterbater, Sukuna’s eyes roll and his orgasm appears in the distance.
He sinks his teeth into your shoulder, indifferent to the pain he could be causing and meets your thrusts half way. There’s no way you’re not waking the entire cell block with the slapping sound bouncing off the concrete walls.
You sigh in disappointment when he lets go of your ‘dick’ and uses both hands to grip your hips, thrusting harder than ever.
He hisses an inhale like it hurts, a string of saliva connecting your shoulder to his teeth— and cums as his feet slightly shuffle.
“Phew,” he exhales, pulling out and tucking his dick back in. He crashes right into bed, just like before, and leaves you throbbing and needy. Again.
_____________
Sometime in the middle of the night, Your cell.
Sukuna has turned ravenous, he wants to fuck everyday, at least twice. It’s a bit much because you have to prep the same day before anal, and you’ve had to turn him down. Not without worries of how he’d take the rejection with little explanation, but thankfully, all he did is tsk and walk off.
One day of no sex, and he’s been staring at you through the entire day. When you wake up, in the cafeteria, on walks, while you draw on your bed. It’s frightening since you can’t read his expression that’s always resting in a threatening way. Would it be stupid to ask what he’s feeling?
Honestly, you just wanted him to wait until you could prep, and then he could have at it— but he didn’t get the message. And it’s not like you can just tell him, ‘Hey Sukuna, you can fuck my ass anytime now. Clock’s ticking!’ That’d mean you’re actively seeking anal, and that’s ridiculous. Right?
You shrug it off and decide to ignore his stare, focusing your attention on the book in your hands. He’s a big boy, if he needs something, he’ll ask for it.
And ask for it, he does.
You gasp when you’re suddenly pushed down flat to your bed, strong hands spreading your legs so Sukuna can rest between them as your book clatters to the floor. You hadn’t even heard his footsteps, or the creak of his bed as he stood.
“Jesus Christ,” you breathe, looking up at him with your heart racing out of your chest. “You scared me.”
His clothed bulge is hovering just above your pussy, but if he rested his weight down a few inches, you’re fucked. Maybe literally.
He must have just showered, his hair is damp and dark pink. He looks down at you hungry, like you’re not a person but a fucktoy with a timed lock on it that’s almost ready to use again, licking his bottom lip. “Does this fix your problem? Can I fuck you now, princess?”
Your brows furrow, an obvious question mark on your expression. You ignore the pet name meant to taunt you, because you’re not a man with toxic masculinity.
He rolls his eyes. “I’m not kissing you. Missionary is as romantic as I’ll get. Take it or leave it.”
What? He must have misinterpreted your rejection as a desire for more intimacy and affection when you have sex. The idea of missionary with Sukuna makes your tummy flutter— but you can’t.
You press your lips together, concealing a laugh. “Oh. Um— no,” you gently press against his chest, “I like how we usually do it.”
“You know,” he leans into your face, “I’m getting real tired of you bossing me around.”
“I’m sorry,” you say, recalling your excuse for keeping your dick out of sight, “I just feel— uh—insecure.”
“Fuck that,” he grunts, grabbing hold of the hem of your sweats, “Only way to get over that shit is to face it.”
You grasp his wrist, nervously. It’s not like you don’t want Sukuna to know you’re a woman so you can fuck the way you want to, it’s just too complicated and risky.
“I— really, let’s just do it against the wall, like we always do!” you attempt to convince him as he pulls against your hold.
He doesn’t say a word, just squints at you like he can smell bullshit in your words.
Suddenly, he yanks your pants all the way down until they fall to the floor and you immediately cup your sex, trying to hide from him. You twist your lower half to lie on your side, legs bent around his side so they can stay together.
He glances down at your lower half and grips your thigh. “Show me,” he snaps, more suspicious than warranted if he actually believed your lies of insecurity.
You shake your head stubbornly, clenching your eyes shut.
“Now,” he allows the word to reverberate against the walls of the cell, and you swear you can feel the vibrations in your chest.
That domineering tone is like a frequency that emits a wave of submission in timid people like you, like a lions roar to a cornered bunny.
Still, you don’t open your legs.
He scoffs a huff of air, like he’s in disbelief of your sudden ability to grow balls. Pun intended.
You peek your eyes open when you feel him shift to crawl down your body until his breath is fanning your hand covering your pussy and naked asshole.
You squeak when he slides his tongue against your fingers. “Open up,” he taunts, giving your asshole a little lick as well.
You whimper as he begins licking at your hand and your thighs, resolve dissolving with every warm, wet touch.
“I’m— I’m scared,” you admit with panic, though you’re being too vague for him to actually console you even if he wanted to.
He takes a big bite out of your thigh and you gasp, pussy clenching in need from the sting. Your wetness has made your hands slippery, and the second he takes another bite, this time a deep one on your fingers, your hand slips away with a sting and a hiss.
He takes the opportunity to yank your legs apart, spreading them over each of his thighs till you’re on full display in front of him. Like a plate.
Your wide eyes flick from your exposed pussy, to his red eyes trained down between your legs. You quickly reach to futilely cover yourself once again.
“Aht!” he scolds, pinning your wrists to the bed on either side of your body before they can cover your sex again. “Don’t fucking move,” he snaps, inches from your face.
You must have the expression of a small animal being prepped for slaughter as he closely eyes you because that’s exactly how you feel. You watch his face shift as he realizes your features aren’t just girly, you’re a fucking girl.
“Please.” You plead him, but for what exactly?
He exhales into you, ignoring you to observe your body. He lets go of one wrist to slowly raise the hem of your shirt up to your collarbones, revealing a tightly wrapped chest.
As if he needs to make sure, he rips it away and blinks at your bouncing tits. One last look at your pussy and he huffs harshly, gazing into your eyes like he just won the lottery.
“Holy shit.”
You’re mute, afraid and frozen in place as your legs clench around his hips, trying to close them around him even though it’s impossible.
“Why are you here?”
He watches you with equal parts curiosity and amused awe.
“I— I made a deal. A stupid fucking deal,” you breathe in your natural feminine voice. It’s not hard to assume the deal was money for time in prison.
He shakes his head, laughing airily like he can’t believe his eyes. “Now this is so very interesting. A woman in my cell.”
He leans into your ear, making your chest and tummy erupt in goosebumps. “I knew your little asshole was too good to be true.” He nips your ear and you whine.
“Don’t— please don’t tell anyone.”
Your quiet request makes him burst out laughing, head tossing back as he hovers over you territorially.
“Tell them?” A vein in his forehead pops as his gaze manically flicks back and forth from each of your eyes, “No, you foolish little thing. You’re all mine. You’d have to fucking kill me to share this pretty pussy.”
You aren’t sure if you should feel relived or scared. You’ve grown fond of Sukuna’s cock, but that look in his eye is downright diabolical.
“You’re,” you begin with a swallow, “not gonna hurt me?”
“Ohhh,” he breathes cathartically like he’s battling aggression seeing something so small and delicate beg not to be broken. “No, no. I’m not gonna hurt you. You’re safe with me.”
You aren’t so sure, if that glint in his eye and tone in his deep voice tells you anything. Like mouse encountering a perfect piece of cheese suspiciously sitting in the middle of the kitchen floor, begging to be eaten.
He leans in and lays a soft kiss to your cheek, making you blink.
“See?” he hums smiling, “I know exactly how to handle with care.”
He presses his nose to your neck and starts sniffing you loudly, like a dog— down to your breasts, your tummy, and finally he takes a good long sniff of your pussy.
You slap your hands to your face in embarrassment and he groans loudly on an exhale, jaw pinching as he clenches his teeth. “Fuuuck. Nothing quite like it. Your pussy smells very nice,” he trails off with a manic laugh, licking his lips.
His eye catches on your pinched brows once you hesitantly pull your hands away to grip the sheets and he leans into your face with a careful kiss to your jaw. “Deal still on, baby?”
You absolutely have no choice, you need his protection now more than before. Without this deal, there’s no telling what he’d do— no matter what he says. And even if he keeps his word, who’s to say no one else will find out your secret? It helps that he’s hauntingly sexy with a big dick he knows what to do with.
You gulp, nodding. “Yes, please.”
“Goood,” his lip curls as he drawls the word out, “That’s very good.”
He licks a wet stripe up the side of your face, making you grip his biceps.
“Are we going to have sex? My— You want my—”
He interrupts your stutter by humming against your cheek with amusement. “Oh yes. I want your pussy. I’m gonna take it over and over again.”
You exhale a sigh, eyes slightly rolling back, enjoying his words a little too much for the situation at hand.
“I’m not on birth control,” you warn him weakly as he begins to suck on your neck.
He hums nonchalantly, slowly sliding his hand down your tummy.
Your hips jerk when he cups your entire sex, long cold fingers pressing into your warm folds that are just begging for love.
“We don’t have condoms,” you add, biting your lip as he uses two middle fingers to carefully brush from your slippery hole up to your clit.
He chuckles against your neck, wickedly, like he’s enjoying every aspect of this conversation.
“No, we don’t,” he agrees with a smile you can literally hear on his voice.
Your jaw drops as he starts rubbing leisurely circles against your throbbing clit, back arching to press your abdomen into his hard abs.
“You have to pull out,” you whine in a broken moan.
“Okay,” he agrees with ease, moving to press his lips to yours.
You barely kiss him back, as his lips slide and suck on yours.
“I thought you said you didn’t want to kiss me,” you say, muffled as your legs tremble.
He moves his middle fingers down and slides one into your core, making you gasp into his mouth.
He abruptly shoves his tongue into your mouth, sliding and flicking against your tongue. He peeks the tip of his pointer finger in to join his middle inside you, and once your initial ring of resistance gives, he shoves it in like a glove.
“Oh,” you whine, brows pinching and toes curling. “Your fingers are so— fuck— they’re big.”
“Oho,” he breathes as he unhurriedly rocks them in and out, “You’ve been so unsatisfied, haven’t you? Getting ass fucked with not one touch to your pretty, crying little pussy.”
You nod erratically, “I was just so scared if you found ou— oh god.”
He gradually puts weight behind his thrusts, fingering you at an angle to abuse your g-spot.
“You thought I would want to hurt you,” he assumes with a pitying smile, “No, no. I just wanna fuck the shit out of you.”
You reach down and grip his wrist, but his hand in motion makes it difficult.
“Please make me cum,” you beg, “I’d be really— so grateful.”
“Yeah?” He presses a peck to your lips and crawls down to stuff his face between your legs. “Finally,” he sighs to your pussy.
He glances up at you and pecks your jumping clit. “Gonna eat your pussy. You want that?”
Your eyes roll back and you nod pathetically. “Oh my god, yes.”
He doesn’t waste time. He makes a pursing motion with his lips and basically sucks your clit into his mouth like a vacuum, gently suckling on it with his eyes blissfully closed. His free hand rests around your hip and flat against your lower tummy.
Your brain is fucking buzzing, toes curling in the air as you breathe short, pathetic breaths. You’re delightfully surprised he knows you need your clit stimulated to cum; a man in prison just isn’t the type you’d expected to know what most women need.
You use both hands to gently curl into his pink hair, watching his lips envelop your clit as the motion of his hand rocks into you.
“That feels good,” you affirm, voice shaky, making sure he knows he’s going a good job so he doesn’t feel motivated to stop.
He doesn’t answer you, just flicks his tongue against your clit with horrifying stamina, like his tongue is as trained as the rest of his body. You don’t feel a second of lag in his force behind his tongue and that yummy suction.
You melt when he transitions into thorough, flat tongued licks, the kind that nudges your clit in a way that’s not too overstimulating— but genuinely pleasurable in a sustainable way. You could actually cum like this. You rub his head like a masseuse, kneading the skin affectionately, making his brows and forehead slightly move with your massage.
He eats you like he hasn’t eaten his favorite meal in a long time, and considering the slop in the cafeteria, your delirious mind thinks it makes perfect sense that he’s probably soo hungry. It’s not his fault he’s so eager.
Your toes curl as your abdomen clenches inward, honing your focus to find an orgasm in the distance with every specifically pressurized slide of his tongue.
He tilts his head idly, side to side and the second he finds that perfect angle to the left, you gasp and yank his head impossibly closer.
“Right there, huh?” is the last thing he says before repeating the motion perfectly, over and over and over while his hand continues at ample speed. It’s about 27 licks in when the white blinds your sight and you give in to the ecstasy of an orgasm.
“Thank you, thank you, thank you— fuck!” you stupidly babble the one phrase you can’t seem to stop repeating to the man ever since you met him, voice strained and slurring as your brain short circuits and cuts off the connection between your motor skills and brain signals.
Even when you fall limp with fading euphoria, frailly whining, ‘no more,’ his big mouth attaches to your entire slit like a fucking milk pump, despite acknowledging your orgasm passing by discarding his wet fingers to join his other hand on your hip/tummy area.
It’s an interesting sight— your weak, spasming body jerking in overstimulation as he blissfully hallows his cheeks and enjoys your cunt with all kinds of tongue techniques. The type of techniques a stupidly rich man has learnt after so many wine tastings to get the full taste profile of every berry inside to layer over his every tastebud. Getting his full money’s worth of this favorite thing.
But fuck if it doesn’t feel good to be licked, even with the ultra sensitivity of an after glow.
“Sukuna— please,” you whimper, “Aren’t you gonna fuck me?”
That’s what makes him pause, flicking open his relaxed, heavily lidded gaze.
He unsuctions your warm folds, letting go in one popping motion and you exhale sharply when the cold air hits you.
He crawls up your body like a predator, more than twice your size. He slides his arms under your back to hold you flush to his body, hugging you in a possessive hold. One hand wraps around the back of your neck, fingers almost meeting at the front, and the other massages your lower back.
“Am I popping your pussy cherry too?” he hums, lips brushing yours as he speaks into your mouth.
“No,” you huff, “Is that a deal breaker?”
He nips your lower lip. “I’m gonna eat you whole,” he expresses how deeply he wants to fuck you— how small a concern like being a virgin would be to him.
You shiver, and maybe even start to consider why he’s in prison in the first place. Eat you.. whole..?
“Can we fuck first?”
He licks his teeth as his metaphorical tiger tail flicks behind him— like a bunny has triggered a tigers instinct to play while in the midst of a chase. If he could purr, he would be right about now.
Interrupting your little moment, the breakfast bell rings. Sukuna must have made his move an hour before six while you were reading the night away and neither of you noted the time. Sukuna had thought it’d be a 10 minute ass fuck, but now that he’s stumbled upon gold in the form of a woman, he’s gotten distracted.
You’re expecting Sukuna to be frustrated that you have to stop before you even reached the main event, but surprisingly, he just helps you get dressed and then stands lazily by the cell bars to cover you while you wrap your chest so no one eyes his plaything.
The guard just passes by boredly, doing morning checks, nodding at Sukuna in brief greeting.
Once the guard is out of sight, you huff in exhaustion and sit up on your bed. After all the fear of being exposed as a woman and having an orgasm like that, all you want is to sleep. You literally nod off as you sit there, listening to the ruffle of Sukuna throwing on some new clothes.
Two taps to your cheek makes you startle, slurping up some drool as you open your eyes. Sukuna squats in front of you, holding your knees.
“Breakfast,” he reminds you, “get up.”
You pout at his tone, having hoped he’d soften up to you after learning you’re a woman. A woman he desperately wants to fuck and protect and own.
“Can’t you bring it to me?”
He blinks at you, deadpanning. “The fuck did you just say?”
You flinch a bit, chin tucking into your chest. You grow even more alert as he stands and pushes over you, making you lean back in bed with your palms behind you, supporting your weight right beside his own larger ones.
“Does this pretty little thing want to be punished?”
You immediately bite your lip, smiling as he pushes his head into your neck to nip at it.
“Mhm, keep doing that,” you encourage his panty dropping neck kisses.
Oncoming footsteps leading closer and closer to your cell make your heart jolt, and suddenly he roughly pushes you down flat with a veiny hand tight around your throat.
“Begging for a beating so early in the morning are we, boy?” he rasps, menacingly, as the inmate walks past, peeking at your altercation briefly before scurrying off in fear of becoming involved in Sukuna’s business.
You smile.
Oh. This’ll be fun.

SORRY edged you there, didn’t I?

thinking of sisyphus!sukuna whose boulder-rolling has to be supervised by you, demon!reader in the afterlife. he’s enjoying it far too much to actually be a punishment, though.
“what’s not to like? i get to work out all day and stare at your juicy ass.” he grins, biceps thick and ashine with sweat as he pushes. “i’d betray zeus twice a week for this.”
“hush, sinner!” you flog him with your barbed cat-o’-nine-tails. it only makes him groan in pleasure, delightedly shouting for more. It’s hard to know if this is his hell or yours.
in life you were an 11th century nun who lived and died for what turned out to be a cult of satan. honest mistake, on your part. it’s not like you could read, and the murals on the church wall looked christian enough to be confusing. regardless, you had lived your life in sweet chastity, only to be assigned to oversee this absolute whore’s punishment in death. godly irony, you suppose.
this wolfish, monstrous, most primal man, you make the sign of the cross over yourself, whose arms could overpower hades and thighs ripple in the mountain sun, fiery-eyed and wet-tongued – i shalt not let him me. amen.
the beguiler in question starts to hold his rock with one arm, the other carving your name into it with his nail.
“thou cans’t write on thy rock! i’m quite certain that thou cans’t write on thy rock!”
“then you’d better get to whipping me, yes, little demon?” nope, totally not. “you can kick me around a bit too.”
“i’m telling hades on thee.” you threaten. “he shalt allot thee a heavier rock.”
sukuna genuinely laughs at this. fuck, why does even his throaty, scratchy sound heat your skin in ways you’re afraid to think of? you’re even more irritated now, watching sukuna flex and ease his shoulders. “i see. you want me to get even stronger so that you can leer at my big–”
“how preposterous!”
“i’m just saying.” he shrugs, pointing up. “they won’t notice. real busy with genghis and kissinger right now. look–” and he suddenly stops pushing his rock. terrified, you expect lightning to vaporise him on the stop, or lava to rain down, but nothing happens. sukuna’s sitting on the ground, having propped his boulder up with a log. chilling. anytime now the gods are going to turn him into a flesh cube, but, uh, nothing happens.
“see?” sukuna says, laying down on his back, spreading out. “they kinda forgot about me somewhere around the 1850s. i just push the rock for fun now.”
“ah... ergo they hath forgotten about me too.”
“sucks, don’t it? why don’t you do something to get back at them?” sukuna waves at you to lie next to him. you know, like a harlot. “one of these days i’m gonna get ya.”
“reckless sinner.” you murmer, turning your eyes away from his serpentine words.
“pure lamb, bride of satan,” redblood eyes beckon you. “i’ll show you what sin really is.”

=================================================
You had been there for Sukuna since college. Back when everyone thought he was the biggest asshole on campus, until you realized just how much responsibility he was carrying all alone. Responsibility that was never supposed to be his in the first place. When you first approached him, he reminded you of a wild cat. Angry. Hissy. Ready to scratch anyone who came too close. But deep down... he never really wanted you to leave.
So you didn't.
Slowly, he began trusting you. He started opening up, little by little, and then one day he introduced you to his younger brothers. Choso and Yuji. You adored them instantly, and they welcomed you with tiny, shy smiles that completely melted your heart. Then eventually, with flushed cheeks and slightly trembling hands, Sukuna asked you to be his girl. All that time, you had been convinced you were the only one with a crush on him, so hearing those words felt almost unreal.
His parents had never cared about any of them and had left the three brothers to fend for themselves. Sukuna had been forced to grow up far too early, taking responsibility for Yuji and Choso while he was still just a kid himself. Even in college, he was juggling three jobs just to make ends meet while trying his best not to lose his scholarship. He never had much time back then, but somehow, no matter how exhausted he was, he never forgot about you.
You, on the other hand, came from a wealthy family. Sukuna was never the kind of person who would accept financial help, so you practically had to force him to move into your apartment just so he could stop wasting money on rent. It wasn't even yours to begin with. Your grandmother had gifted it to you. Once he finally gave in, it slowly stopped feeling like two people sharing a place. You felt like you had become a family.
You knew how important his work was to him so you helped him take care of his younger brothers, while also helping Sukuna get his business off the ground until he finally started attracting investors, business partners and greater opportunities. Then, slowly, the business began to grow. He had become someone people wanted to know and impress.
The more successful he became, the busier he got. You tried to understand it but then there were moments, when it felt like you were no longer a part of his world. Slowly the lack of time, efforts and assurance turned your relationship bitter. At one point you couldn't even remember the last time the two of you had laughed together or simply enjoyed each other's company. You guys barely even talked and when you did, they turned into fights. Constantly for months now.
He was always busy with work, meetings, and events, while more and more women kept throwing themselves at him. You understood he couldn't control that part, but it still pissed you off because he reacted like it was no big deal. Like you were overreacting. He used to get visibility irritated when some tried to hit on him before but now it was difficult to recognise him at times. Somewhere along the way, those frustrations slowly turned into suspicions. Were all those business trips really about work? Was there someone else? Did he still love you?
You watched the way women looked at him, with obvious desire in their eyes, not caring that you were standing right there beside him. And honestly you couldn't even blame them. Sukuna was attractive. Painfully so. Tall, handsome, successful, confident, and carrying himself with the kind of quiet authority that naturally drew people's attention the moment he walked into a room. It was almost impossible not to notice.
Some wore polite smiles. Others barely acknowledged your existence. But a few... a few looked at you with that same mocking smile, like they couldn't understand why someone like you was standing next to someone like him. Like you were some naïve little girl who had somehow ended up with a man completely out of her league.
And every single time it happened, a small part of you deep down had started wondering the same thing.
The doubts only seemed to grow stronger. Women - investors, business partners, assistants - kept messaging him, sometimes even late at night. Other times when he would step outside to answer a call, and you couldn't help overhearing a little, he didn't sound annoyed.
If anything, he sounded interested. Or maybe just amused. Like he was playing hard to get. He had changed a lot. And maybe his feelings changed.
It wasn't really his fault... was it?
You had helped him through some of the hardest years of his life. Maybe he stayed because he felt guilty about leaving you, even if deep down he wanted to. At first, the two of you fought all the time, but these past few weeks... even that had stopped. The silence between you had become cold, almost as if neither of you thought the relationship was worth fighting for anymore.
And then he forgot your anniversary. He never even realized it. Or if he did... he didn't seem guilty enough to bring it up.You never reminded him. What was the point? He would've probably shown up with some ridiculously expensive gift, thinking money could fix what had been broken for months. It couldn't.
You had spent years helping raise Sukuna's younger brothers, putting yourself and your own career second because you wanted to help all of them. You missed the girl you were back in college. The girl who was ambitious, who genuinely loved the work she did, who woke up excited for the future. Somewhere along the way, life became everyone else first and you somewhere at the very end. And now you were just tired.
But it was not just Sukuna who had changed. Even Yuji and Choso had.
Choso had always been the shy one. The kind of kid who practically hovered around you but hid behind you whenever someone new spoke to him. At first, you kept telling yourself that maybe he was just growing up. College changed people. He was probably busy trying to find his own friends and his own place in the world.
Yuji was easier to explain too. He was a teenager now. Teenagers changed. They stopped clinging to people and became more independent. That's what you kept telling yourself anyway. But no matter how many excuses you came up with, that strange feeling never really went away. Both of them had slowly become distant.
Yuji, who used to cling to your arm, scold Sukuna on your behalf whenever you two fought, and refuse to let you leave the house without hugging him first, had become someone who barely spoke more than three words to you. He still smiled politely whenever you crossed paths, but that was all they were now. Polite smiles. The kind you gave strangers.
Choso wasn't much different. He no longer hovered around you or quietly followed you into the kitchen just to keep you company while you cooked. Instead, it almost felt like he was avoiding you. At first, you thought maybe you were overthinking it. Then one afternoon, you overheard him talking to a few of his college friends. They were talking about you.
"I mean... she's lucky. Sukuna's loaded now. Must be nice living off all that money while he works day and night."
You paused and waited.
You knew Choso would say something. He knew better than anyone that you had been there long before Sukuna ever had money. So you waited for him to correct them. To defend you. Instead there was silence. Your heart sank. He didn't agree but he didn't disagree either. And somehow, that hurt just as much.
Did Choso think that too? Was that why he had been avoiding you? Not because he was shy anymore, but because he genuinely didn't like you? It suddenly hit you that maybe they had all changed. You had just refused to accept it. You had fed them, helped them with their homework, cleaned up after them, worried about them, celebrated their birthdays, and loved them like they were your own. But what were you to them now? Just some girl living off Sukuna's money? A nanny? A convenience?
You kept telling yourself Choso was just busy with college, trying to find his people, while Yuji was simply acting like every teenager did. Until one afternoon, when you came back from the supermarket. The three of them were sitting together in the living room, eating, laughing, and joking around. They hadn't noticed you standing at the front door yet, your arms full of grocery bags, but something inside you broke that day because, for the first time in months, you saw them laughing the way they used to.
Just...Not with you.
You stood there for a few seconds before finally stepping inside. The laughter stopped almost immediately. The room fell silent, and it felt like a stranger had just walked into a private conversation instead of coming home. Like you no longer belonged there. The only person who spoke was Sukuna.
"There's dinner for you in the oven."
You simply nodded before making your way straight to your bedroom.
You knew you had to talk to Sukuna. You had been putting it off for months, but this couldn't continue anymore. Except... he never came to your room that night. A quiet chuckle escaped your lips as you lay down on the bed. When was the last time the two of you had even gone to sleep together peacefully? Most nights ended in arguments, while the rest ended with him staying in his office until he eventually fell asleep there instead.
As you stared at the ceiling, you remembered something Shoko had told you months ago when the two of you had met. You're doing wife duties while you're still just the girlfriend. It never ends well. Back then, you hadn't listened. Because back then they needed you.
But people changed, and maybe the biggest thing you had failed to realize was that you weren't actually family. You were just convenient. And now that they didn't need you anymore, you couldn't help but feel like a burden more than ever. Sleep never came that night. Sukuna and you barely even felt like you were in a relationship anymore. As difficult as it was to admit, maybe his feelings really had changed. His circle had grown. His world had grown. Deep down, he probably knew he'd be better off with someone else.
Just when you finally gathered the courage to talk to Sukuna, he walked into the bedroom.
"I have to leave now," he said, already reaching for his suitcase. "Business trip."
You simply nodded. He disappeared back out to finish packing when his phone, which he had left on the bed, lit up with a notification.
A woman's name..
She was just one of those women. One of the many who seemed to cling to Sukuna even more whenever you were around, acting as if they knew him better than you did. The conversation would always somehow drift towards business, investors, meetings, and deals, leaving you standing there feeling like an outsider in your own relationship. Then there were the little things. The way her hand always seemed to linger on his arm a little longer than necessary. The way she stood just a little too close. The smiles that almost felt intentional, like she was trying to send you a message without ever saying a word. But she wasn't the only one. There had been others. Too many for you to even remember their names.
‘Let's meet at the same hotel after the meeting.’
Before you could even process what you had read, Sukuna walked back into the room and immediately picked up his phone. It was quick. Almost instinctive. Like he was hiding something.
You didn't feel angry. You didn't even feel like asking him to explain. You had done that before. Every single time it ended the same way. Another fight. Another argument about how you were overthinking things. How you were reading too much into it. How you just needed to trust him.
But you did not trust him anymore. Not after everything had changed. You remembered how he used to get irritated whenever another woman openly flirted with him. Now, it almost felt like he enjoyed it. And you were tired of wondering. Tired of convincing yourself that nothing had changed when everything around you said otherwise.
There were plenty of women interested in him. Women with influence. Women with powerful connections. Women who naturally belonged in the world he had built for himself. You weren't insecure. At least, you didn't think you were. You were just trying to be realistic.
Sukuna had outgrown you. He deserved someone who matched him. Honestly, he might even be relieved when you finally left. That night, Sukuna left for his business trip. You started packing.
There wasn't much that was truly yours anymore. Most of what surrounded you had been bought by Sukuna. At first, they were gifts because he wanted to repay you for standing beside him during the hardest years of his life. Somewhere along the way, they slowly became apologies instead. Expensive gifts after every argument, after every forgotten promise, after every disappointment. You just hadn't realized it back then.
Your eyes drifted to the ring on your finger. A ruby. Your favorite stone.
He had given it to you after landing his first major client almost four years ago. It wasn't an engagement ring. It was a promise ring. A promise that the two of you would get married one day as soon as his business got more stable so you guys could plan a lavish wedding.
Did you even want that anymore? You couldn't honestly say yes. Because love wasn't supposed to make you feel this small. You slowly slipped it off your finger and gently placed the ring inside the bedside drawer.
The next morning, two large suitcases sat by the bedroom door. One held your clothes. The other was filled with your books, important documents, and work files. Two smaller suitcases carried your gadgets and all the little pieces of yourself that had quietly found their place around the penthouse over the years.
Maybe you weren't being as calm as you had convinced yourself you were about this. Maybe you were being just a little petty because you wanted to erase every little trace of you out of his life.
Your shampoo. Your bath bombs. Your soft pink towel. The stupid little decorations you had insisted on buying because they made the place feel warmer. Everything went into a box.
The things you couldn't take with you, you had removed from the apartment entirely. Your old desk. Your bookshelf. Your oversized chair where you spent countless nights working while Yuji and Choso did their homework beside you. Sukuna will get his life back. Without you. Without even the smallest fragments of you left behind. After all, it was only polite.
Before leaving, you decided to have breakfast one last time with Yuji and Choso. You let out a quiet chuckle when both of them seemed to be in a hurry to leave. It took them barely three minutes to finish eating before they were already grabbing their bags and heading towards the door. You simply watched them and had your breakfast.
The two brothers exchanged a confused glance as you didn't say much today. You usually asked them what they had planned, their friends or just about anything but today you were very quiet. They shrugged it off thinking you were just in one of your quieter moods today. They walked toward the door, mumbled their goodbyes and turned to leave.
But you didn't answer.
That made them pause. Yuji looked back first. You were staring at the family picture hanging on the wall. The one you had insisted on framing years ago. Back then, all you could see was your family.
Now all you saw was a family of three brothers and a woman who was about to become someone they used to know. Eventually, you would just become another stranger from their past. You weren't going to fool yourself into believing Yuji or Choso would want to keep in touch with you after this. They barely spoke to you anymore. Some days you didn't even see them because they stayed over at friends' houses. You only knew the names of a few friends because they occasionally came over.
"Y/n?"
Yuji's voice pulled you out of your thoughts. You looked over at him as you replied. "Yeah?"
No smile.
"We're leaving."
"Okay."
Your face remained blank. No ‘Take care’, No ‘Don't do anything stupid’.
Nothing. Both of them frowned. It felt... strange.
Choso hesitated before quietly asking, "You okay? You seem distracted."
His eyes shifted towards the family picture you had been staring at. You finally gave them a small smile as you looked away.
"Yeah. I was just thinking it's time to change this old picture."
The two brothers simply nodded before leaving. It was unusual. But they were already running late. As soon as they left you got up and carried your suitcases down to the car. After one trip, you came back upstairs to check the penthouse one last time.
You looked around and there wasn't a single thing left that belonged to you anymore. The apartment looked exactly the way it had before you ever moved in.
Like a luxury hotel.
Only one thing remained. The family picture.
You walked over and carefully took it off the wall. As soon as it was in your hands, every bit of anger and frustration you had been holding back came rushing to the surface. Your fingers tightened around the frame as tears silently rolled down your cheeks. You remembered the day you had proudly hung it above the fireplace. You remembered Choso's shy smile and Yuji excitedly pointing at himself in the picture.
You couldn't take it with you. But you did not want to leave it here either. It didn't belong above that fireplace anymore. In a sudden burst of anger, you threw it onto the floor. The glass shattered across the room.
After a moment of satisfaction, you let out an exhausted groan.
Great. Now I have to clean it up.
Those idiots would probably end up cutting themselves trying to do it. Just then, your phone buzzed. A message from Sukuna.
‘Choso and Yuji will be staying at their friends' place and will return next week.’
You stared at the screen for a second before letting out a hollow laugh. They hadn't even bothered telling you when you just saw them now. But why are you even surprised anymore? You were not family to them, at least not anymore.
You threw the broken frame into the bin. And gave the photograph one final look, before you walked over to the stove.
And burned it.
Like it had never existed before you finally walked out of the penthouse. Away from the life you had built. And the life you had only convinced yourself was yours.
You had your own money. More than enough, actually. You had never actually stopped working. You still had your own assets and investments, and although you had slowed down over the years, you continued taking independent projects from home whenever you had the time. You had simply spent so much of that time giving everyone else their share of you that your own dreams had quietly been pushed aside.
That was going to change now.
A friend owned an apartment nearby and handed you the keys without hesitation. You moved in that very day. There wasn't much to organize since it came fully furnished, so by evening you found yourself shopping for an entirely new wardrobe. Professional clothes. Clothes that made you feel like yourself again. You signed up for a gym too. Not because you were unhappy with how you looked, but because you missed feeling strong.
Besides, working out had always been your way of clearing your head. It gave you a reason to eat better, stay active, and focus on yourself again. For the first time in months... You were excited. Everything felt new.
The following day, you sat down and mapped out the next six months of your life. Registering your company. Legal paperwork. Finance. Marketing. Every little detail had already been planned years ago back in college. Somewhere along the way, you had forgotten about that dream.
Now... It was finally beginning.
You slept well that night. You had already grown so used to sleeping alone these past few weeks that it didn't even feel strange anymore. There was a lot you were looking forward to.
—------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Monday morning
Choso picked Yuji up before heading back to the penthouse together. The moment they stepped inside, both of them instinctively looked towards the dining table, expecting to see you already sitting there, probably waiting for them to finally wake up so breakfast could begin.
Instead the house was quiet. It felt strange.
"Maybe she went out," Yuji mumbled with a small shrug as he looked around for you, before making his way towards his room. Choso silently followed behind him.
As they walked upstairs, both of their eyes drifted towards the empty space above the fireplace. The family picture was still gone. A small frown settled on both their faces. The whole place looked weird without it.
After changing, the two brothers wandered back downstairs, grabbed a box of cereal, and sat across from each other at the dining table. Both were lost in their own thoughts before Choso finally spoke.
"...Did she message you over the weekend?"
Yuji looked up immediately. He didn't even need to ask who Choso was talking about.
"No." He frowned. "I honestly thought my phone was broken or something."
Choso slowly nodded, absentmindedly pushing the cereal around his bowl.
"I was expecting at least two calls," he admitted quietly. "She didn't even text."
Yuji stayed silent.
"...She didn't seem okay that day either," Choso continued after a moment. "Where is she so early anyway?"
Yuji shrugged. "Maybe she's with Sukuna?"
The two brothers looked at each other before nodding. That made the most sense. Anything else, didn't.
Just then, Sukuna finally returned from his business trip. He walked in carrying lunch. Your favorite. You had left his "Good morning" message on read earlier that day. It had felt more like a formality than anything else, especially since he had spent most of the weekend buried in work anyway. He figured you were still upset with him, so he had picked up your favorite food on the way home, hoping it might at least get you to talk to him.
The moment he stepped inside, his eyes instinctively searched the apartment. He expected to see you. Instead he found Yuji and Choso sitting silently at the dining table.
His brows furrowed.
"Where is she?" he asked as he placed the takeaway bags on the table before looking around the place.
Yuji looked just as confused.
"Isn't she with you?"
"I just got back from a work trip. How the hell could she be with me?"
Choso slowly looked up.
"...She hasn't been home since morning."
Sukuna's head snapped towards him.
"And you're telling me that just now?" His voice came out much harsher than he intended as he immediately pulled his phone out. "Did either of you at least call her?"
The two brothers exchanged guilty looks before quietly shaking their heads. They had both assumed you'd be back by now. Muttering a curse under his breath, Sukuna immediately called you.
You didn’t answer. He called again. This time the call disconnected, only for a message to appear a few seconds later.
‘I'm busy with some work.’
He stared at it for a second before quickly typing back.
‘Where are you? At least tell me when you'll be home.’
No reply. Another minute passed. Still nothing. Sukuna let out a frustrated sigh before slipping his phone back into his pocket.
"She's busy."
He gestured towards the food.
"I brought food. Eat."
The three of them sat down in silence. Trying to ignore the uncomfortable atmosphere, Sukuna finally spoke.
"What did you two do over the weekend, brats?"
"Nothing much," Yuji answered quietly. "Just hung out with friends."
Normally he would've rambled for another five minutes after that. But today he spoke nothing else. Sukuna glanced towards Choso.
"And you?"
"...Same."
Another silence settled over the table before Choso quietly looked down at the pasta in front of him.
"...She makes this much better."
Yuji nodded in agreement. Sukuna rolled his eyes, already about to make some sarcastic remark, when his gaze drifted towards the fireplace.
He paused.
"...Where did that picture go?"
Yuji looked over. "Oh."
"She said it was getting old. She must have taken it down to replace it."
Sukuna frowned. Old? You loved that picture. You had always gone on about how it was your favorite one in the house. Now the wall looked very empty. For some reason, it bothered him more than it should have.
"When did she say that?"
Yuji thought for a second.
"...Thursday morning."
Choso quietly added. "That was the last time we talked to her."
Something heavy settled in Sukuna's chest.
"Did..." Yuji hesitated before asking quietly, "...did you guys fight?"
Choso glanced towards him before adding,
"...She didn't look okay that day."
Sukuna frowned.
"...You're telling me she didn't call either of you the entire weekend?"
Both brothers slowly shook their heads.
That wasn't like you. No matter how bad things got between the two of you, you never dragged Yuji or Choso into it. You always made sure they were okay, especially whenever they stayed somewhere else. You always checked if they had eaten, if they reached safely, if they needed anything.
So why...
"I'll fix it."
It came out more like a promise to himself than to anyone else. He stood up, phone already in his hand, sending you another message.
Call me when you're free
Then he sat back down, staring at the screen as if somehow that would make it ring faster. A few minutes later, it finally did. Sukuna answered the phone almost immediately.
"What do you want?"
He frowned at your detached tone. It was cold. Polite. Like he was talking to a stranger. He deserved that much. Honestly, at this point he wasn't even sure what exactly you were still mad about anymore. Somewhere along the way, every fight had blurred into the next until he couldn't tell where one ended and another began.
"Look..." he sighed, rubbing a hand over his face. "I'm sorry, alright?"
"Okay."
The reply came so quickly it almost caught him off guard. No arguing. No sarcasm. No telling him to go to hell.
Just ‘Okay’ Somehow, that felt worse. He continued anyway.
"Please just come home so we can sort this out."
There was a long pause. Long enough for him to wonder whether the call had disconnected. Then he heard you sigh as you realised he still hadn't noticed it yet.
"Sukuna..."
Your voice was calm. Too calm.
"I'm not coming back."
He frowned.
"What do you mean?...Are you staying at Shoko's? Just tell me where you are."
He assumed just like every other time, you will still stay. Maybe not happily, but you always did. Even when you were furious. Somewhere deep down, he had always known why.
Yuji.
Choso.
No matter how angry you were with him, you never let it affect them. But this time was different. And he was yet to realise it.
"Sukuna..." You took a slow breath before saying the words that had been sitting on your chest for days.
"I moved out."
Silence. You could hear his breathing. Nothing else. It was almost like his brain had refused to process what you had just said.
"...What?"
"I moved out."
"What the hell are you talking about?" he snapped, his voice suddenly rising. "I get that you're mad, but don't fucking joke like this."
You leaned your head back against your office chair, closing your eyes for a moment. You already knew he wasn't going to make this easy. Not because he loved you. Because you had become a habit. And habits were hard to break.
"I already moved out," you repeated quietly. "Three days ago."
Sukuna slowly sat down on the edge of the bed. His eyes wandered around the room. For the first time he actually looked.
Your desk. Gone.
The chair you always curled up in while reading. Gone.
Your books. Gone.
The little decorations you insisted made the room feel warmer. Gone.
It was so subtle that he hadn't noticed before. Now it looked like you had never lived there at all. His breathing became uneven. His hand started trembling as he stood up and walked towards the wardrobe. He pulled the door open.
Almost empty.
Only the expensive things he had bought you over the years were still hanging inside. His chest tightened painfully. Suddenly it felt too real.
"B-Baby..." His voice cracked for the first time. "Where are you?"
You stayed silent. He swallowed hard.
"Please." The word came out so quietly you almost didn't hear it.
"Think about Choso." Another pause. "...about Yuji."
Your voice remained calm. "They'll still have you... and that's enough. I know you'll all be alright."
Something inside Sukuna snapped. "NO!"
His voice echoed through the bedroom.
"YOU DON'T GET TO DECIDE THAT!"
His breathing had become ragged.
"YOU DON'T GET TO JUST LEAVE AND TELL ME WE'LL BE OKAY WHEN YOU KNOW DAMN WELL WE WON'T!"
For the first time since the call had started, anger finally surged through you. How dare he. How dare he act like this now? Like none of this had been his fault? A quiet, bitter chuckle escaped your lips.
"You were doing just fine all this time," you replied softly. "Even when I wasn't."
He froze.
"So why pretend now?" Your voice cracked just slightly. "Why are you acting like we weren't already over?"
A tear slipped down his face before he even realized it was there. He knew things had gotten bad. He knew the two of you had been fighting more than either of you were smiling lately. Every misunderstanding seemed to turn into another argument, every conversation into another disappointment. But somewhere, somehow, he had convinced himself that no matter how ugly things got...
You would still be there. He had taken that for granted.
"But..." His voice broke. "You can't just leave. We are family. You don;t get to do this" He didn't even know what he was saying anymore. "We have to at least try. We can fix this." He shook his head desperately, like if he refused to accept it hard enough, everything would somehow go back to normal. "Please... just give me one more chance. I swear I'll -"
You had heard it before. You had done this dance before. It always ended the same way. A few days of trying. A few promises. Then work took over again, another misunderstanding happened, and before you knew it, you were right back where you started. Now you couldn't believe him anymore. Not even if a part of you wanted to.
"Check your bedside drawer," you said quietly. "I left you something."
Your voice was so calm that it scared him. With trembling hands, he walked over to the bedside table. Somewhere deep down he already knew as he slowly pulled the drawer open.
His breath caught. There it was. Your ruby ring.
The one he had spent months saving for after landing his first major client. He still remembered how nervous he had been handing it to you, promising that one day he'd replace it with a real engagement ring. He remembered how brightly you had smiled, teasing him that he had somehow managed to remember your favorite gemstone. Now it was lying alone inside the drawer.
Returned.
The promise had been returned with it. He understood exactly what you were trying to say. You didn't trust him anymore. You didn't believe in him anymore. You didn't believe in the relationship anymore. His trembling hand held onto the bed as another sob escaped him.
Ryomen Sukuna.
The man who hadn't cried when his parents abandoned them. The man who hadn't cried while working three jobs just to keep food on the table. The man who had built an entire company from nothing with his own hands. Was now crying so hard he could barely breathe.
You had left.
The one person who had stayed beside him when he had absolutely nothing. The one who never looked down on him. The one who made sure Yuji and Choso always smiled. The one who had somehow turned a tiny apartment into a home..
"You..." His voice came out as nothing more than a broken whisper. "...You can't just leave us."
Your eyes filled with tears again. "We don’t belong together anymore, Sukuna. And I've accepted it. You should too."
And before he could say another word, you ended the call.
"No... no..."
His hands shook violently as he called you back. Again and again. Straight to voicemail. He sent a message. No reply. His breathing became more frantic as he looked around the bedroom again.
It wasn't just your clothes. Everything that had belonged to you was gone. Even your favorite blanket. It suddenly looked like no one had ever lived there besides him. Like you had erased yourself from the apartment...And from his life.
A strangled sound escaped his throat before rage exploded through him. He grabbed the chair nearest to him and hurled it across the room. It slammed into the wall, knocking a lamp onto the floor where it shattered instantly. His breathing became heavier. His vision blurred with tears.
He ripped the curtains down with one violent pull before punching the wardrobe hard enough to leave a dent in the wood. Nothing mattered. None of it. Not the penthouse. Not the company. Not the money. None of it meant a damn thing if you weren't there to come home to.
The crashing downstairs was loud enough that Yuji and Choso came running.
"Sukuna!"
"What happened?"
The two brothers stopped dead in the doorway. The room looked like a disaster. Broken glass covered the floor. The chair lay on its side. The curtains had been ripped down.
Their older brother stood in the middle of it all, breathing heavily, tears streaming down his face. Neither of them had ever seen him like this. Choso was the first to find his voice.
"...what’s wrong?"
Sukuna slowly turned around. His eyes were red. Broken. Empty.
"She left."
Neither of them moved.
"She's..." His voice cracked again. "...She's not coming back."
The room fell completely silent. Yuji felt the color drain from his face. Choso's heart dropped into his stomach.
What? Why?
Neither of them moved. For a long moment, the only sound in the room was Sukuna's uneven breathing.
"...When?" Yuji finally managed to ask. Sukuna stared blankly ahead.
"Thursday."
Both brothers froze.
"...Thursday?" Choso frowned.
Choso slowly sat down, trying to make sense of it all.
"She..." His voice caught in his throat. "She was saying goodbye."
The family picture. You were not making conversation. You were saying goodbye.
"No..." Yuji whispered, shaking his head. "No... she wouldn't just leave."
He immediately looked towards Sukuna. "You called her back, right?"
Sukuna nodded. "She won't answer."
"Text her."
"I did."
"Call her again then!"
"I HAVE!"
The words echoed through the room before Sukuna immediately looked away, dragging a trembling hand over his face. His voice had become hoarse.
"I don't know where she is."
That sentence hit the two brothers harder than anything else. After everything, he didn't even know where you were. This hadn't been some impulsive decision after another fight.
You had packed. Found another place to live. Taken everything that truly belonged to you. You hadn't left because of one argument. You had been leaving for months. He had simply been too blind to notice.
For years, he had convinced himself that everything he was doing was for you. Ever since college, the only thing on his mind had been becoming someone worthy of standing beside you. You came from a family that could give you almost anything, while he came from nothing. Somewhere along the way, he had convinced himself that if he just worked hard enough, earned enough, became successful enough, then one day he would finally be able to give you the life you deserved.
So he worked. And worked. And worked.
He tolerated investors he couldn't stand, business dinners he hated, and people he would've gladly thrown out if his company wasn't still growing. Every fake smile, every forced conversation, every handshake was another step towards the future he wanted to build with you.
He never as much as thought about anyone else, forget cheating. The women never mattered. Not one of them. They couldn't even compare to you.
To him, they were nothing more than another inconvenience that came with success. He had simply become better at hiding his irritation because losing his temper every time someone flirted with him wasn't an option anymore. The company was still growing. Investors watched everything. One wrong move, one public scene, and years of work could disappear overnight. So instead of barking back the way he used to, he learned to hide it behind subtle gestures, cold stares, short replies, and ending conversations as quickly as possible.
He thought he was protecting your future. Instead he had forgotten to protect your present. He had forgotten to cherish the person he was trying so desperately to build that future for.
The room remained silent.
However Sukuna hadn't been the only one who had changed.
As his company grew, so did the attention around Yuji and Choso. Former classmates who barely acknowledged them when they struggled suddenly wanted to be friends. Some wanted favors. Others simply wanted to be associated with Sukuna's name. There were arguments, fights, and people trying to use them because of who their brother had become. Sukuna quietly handled most of it before it ever reached you.
The brothers stopped coming to you with every little problem. Not because they stopped thinking of you as family. Because they did not want to bother you even more..
Years ago, they remember overhearing your parents arguing with you, telling you that you spent too much of your life taking care of three boys who weren't even your responsibility. Those words made them realise how much they owed to you.
And without meaning to, they started carrying things on their own. They stopped asking for help. Spent more time outside. Tried to solve their own problems. Tried to become someone you could be proud of instead of another responsibility you had to look after.
Neither of them realized that every small step they took towards becoming independent looked, from where you were standing, like another step away from you. And by the time any of them understood what had happened...
You were already gone.

Your head pounds.
There is a ringing in your ears.
You squeeze your eyelids before blinking them open, only then realizing you’re lying in the dirt. Your thumping heart almost stops at the sheer nothingness before you; everything is dark. Pitch black. You scramble into a sitting position, a sharp pain behind your eyes making you clutch your head and groan.
Why was it so dark? Did you pass out by the water pool? How long has it been? Surely its well into the night if it’s gotten so dark, but why had no one come to get you? Why hadn’t Suguru come to check?
No matter, at least you are conscious now and can begin making your way back. There’s no need to panic and you have to remain calm. You lay your palms flat against the cold ground, patting your way to the wall when your hand finds a course fabric. Immediately you begin feeling at it, and with a rush of relief you realize it’s Suguru’s toolbelt. You quickly unzip it and rummage around for something useful, hand closing around something small and cylindrical. You feel for the button on the end and upon pushing it, drop the item as a flash of white blinds you. You blink away the momentary blindness and reach down to grab the flashlight, the light now enough to illuminate the entirety of the corridor before you. You begin making your way back out, glancing over your shoulder at the pool of water one last time.
Once reaching the main tunnel, you see a small light at the end, knowing that’s your exit point. The thrumming in your head is mostly gone now, so you pick up the pace and begin jogging towards it. You begin to squint as you grow nearer, eyes still not used to the growing brightness. You raise your hand to shield them beneath your cap and step out.
It was bright day. Your brows scrunch in confusion. Had you only really been unconscious for a moment rather than hours? The sun was high in the sky just like when you entered earlier.
You click the light off and put it back in the toolbelt now secured to your hips, and a feeling of dread sits heavy in your gut when you look out before you.
The dig site is nowhere to be seen.
The tents, trailers, people, supplies, heck the whole community that had been here for the past few weeks was gone. There wasn’t a trace of anything before you, almost as if they were never there. Stranger yet, the whole clearing which was once stripped bare to reveal the ground and soil was covered now in tall grass and foliage.
You blink once. Twice. Slowly take a step forward, then another. You spin around to take a look at your surroundings, rub your eyes and peer back out in disbelief. The silence was eerie, cut only by the whistling of the light breeze through the tall plants. Your eyes flit around to make sense of – well anything really.
Where… where was everything? Where was everyone?
Your mouth goes dry and a striking fear begins to settle like a pit in your stomach. You don’t know what to think, you don’t really want to think if you’re being honest; the sights – or lack thereof – in front of you is enough to have your chest heaving. Your clammy hands begin patting at your clothes until they find your toolbelt, clutching it like your life depends on it.
Right, the toolbelt!
You gaze down at it, gripping the one reminder you have – the one proof you have that you’re not losing it, that you are in fact sane and you were at the excavation grounds at some point.
“Think,” you mutter to yourself, “you’re not stupid, so calm down and find everyone.”
You take a deep breath and, one hand still resting on the toolkit, begin making your way through the dense thicket. You walk towards where the little town was, but to honest, without the dig site and its familiar landmarks, your sense of direction is totally off. The one thing you have to go based off was the cave, and as you make your way through the dense brush, you see that you were approaching a line of trees.
“Stupid Suguru and his stupid ideas,” you grumble under your breath, “I bet this is one of his dumb pranks to haze the interns. When I find that little shit…”
Deep down you know it isn’t some prank. This is too extravagant, and although Suguru liked to tease you, he isn’t some troublemaking prankster.
You gulp, shaking the thoughts of doubt from your mind. You have to find everyone and wake up from this awful dream.
Just as you passed the treeline and entered what seemed to be a wooded forest, you hear a loud, thunderous trumpet sound behind you. Without missing a beat, you leap forward and dive into the underbrush, taking shelter behind the thickest tree trunk you’d ever seen and pressing your palms to your ears.
What the fuck was that!?
You wait a beat, the sound of your heart rapidly beating the only thing you hear, and after a moment, you lower your hands slowly to the quiet of the air again.
Only to hear the same roar again moments later but this time louder, more fragmented like there is more than one creature. Your stomach drops as you recognize it. You couldn’t believe it… it sounds, almost like… an elephant? You feel the ground beneath you shake from the sheer volume, and you inch forward to part some leaves to give you a clear view.
Your breath hitches. Every fibre in your body freezes.
It wasn’t an elephant.
You were staring wide eyed at a woolly mammoth.
The beast is grazing past the back of the cave where you were just minutes before; huge, ivory tusks glinting in the light. Behind it trail two more of its kind, slowly meandering past without a care in the world.
What. The. Fuck.
Had you not been so dumbstruck at the sight before you, maybe you would’ve heard the slight rustle of leaves creeping behind you, the snap of a twig, you would've heard the pause at the sound, and the silence of the resumed stalk when you don’t move.
You feel hot breath hit your calf, eyes widening and you twist around in time to see the open maws of the biggest tiger you had ever seen.
The shrill screech leaves your throat before you can process, and the sabre-tooth tiger lunges –
Past you? The beast completely ignores your screams and leaps over your crouched body, landing with precision on its true target: the smallest of the mammoths. Its jaws clamp down around the juvenile’s throat, a sharp tooth spearing the jugular and instantly ending its life while its fellow herd members scramble from the scene.
Your body shakes with fear and you have seen enough. You begin army crawling through the brush before you deem yourself a safe enough distance away to leap back up and take off in a sprint. You can feel the panicked tears gathering at your lash line and are just praying that the stupid cat is too distracted with its dinner to pay you any mind.
You don’t know how long you run for, it could’ve been two minutes or twenty, but you see the treeline split ahead of you, and without any hesitation you bound through the space.
–
The giant man had just finished putting an overzealous caveman in his place. The weakling had come bounding up to him in front of everyone like a dog foaming at the mouth, challenging him to replace him as the strongest in their band of hunter-gatherers.
It was a moot point, as the larger of the two had no interest in remaining part of their community and would go off on his own to live in isolation, only to find the nomadic cave-dwellers always following not too far behind. He was, in fact, the strongest caveman they’d ever seen, and him living – and thriving – in such dangerous conditions for as long as he had, defeating wild beast after beast, as well as other threatening human subspecies was a testament to his survival aptitude. At the realization that he could never rid himself of the damn pests, he relented to living on their outskirts so long as they left him be.
Every now and then, there would be some fool from their band who would think themselves mighty enough to take his rank, and each time they were reminded how awfully outmatched they were, and not just because of his extra limbs.
This time was no different, the brawl ending quickly with a grab and twist of his opponent’s arms, rocky blade jammed into the throat with no real effort from his side. He drops the foolish challenger, but not before being sprayed with his blood. He turns to head to the river, leaving the body for the crowd to clear away.
At the riverbank, the large man sets aside his dumbbell-like blade forged from stone and begins stripping his tiger pelt. He splashes the water onto his chiseled body, rubbing away at the blood and watching it discolour the water he shallowly stood in. He reaches for his pelt when done, and crouches into the shallows to wash the remaining stains out of the fur.
His ear twitches, picking up a faint pitter-patter sound rustling behind him that was rapidly getting louder. He turns in time to see you leap out of the forest behind him, not realising the clearing gives way to a steep drop into the riverbank. The man’s eyes widen, and it’s almost in slow motion how you seem to be flying, your body blocking out the sun creating an ethereal ring of light around you. The moment is broken just as quickly when you ram into him full force, toppling the both of you into the river with a heavy splash.
You surface with a gasp at the cold of the water, clothes clinging to your soaked body. You get your bearings quickly enough, on your hands and knees submerged up to your elbows before you snap your head side to side, sure it was another person you collided with. You unsteadily get to your feet, wading through the water to take your heaving form back to the riverbank. In the moments it took for you to fall into the river and situate yourself back on your feet, you didn’t notice the giant had already beat you to the riverbank, hand clutching his weapon with practiced ease, his four eyes narrowed on your unaware form.
When you reach the bank of the river is when you see him. Your mouth parts in relief at seeing another person. You walk towards him, not noticing how still he is and how his eyes track your every movement as you approach him.
“Oh thank God! Sir I’m lost and have no idea where I am. Do you think you could –”
You glance down at his body and freeze. He watches you take him in, his body, his odd anatomy. He’s used to it. Your expression changes from relief to confusion, eyebrows furrowing low as you blink hard to correct what you think is double vision.
Two of his eyes stay fixed on you, the other two widen and he reels back his hand holding the blade – the blade you only now notice. You barely have time to react as he launches the knife straight at you, your eyes squeeze shut as you drop to the ground with a scream.
A beat.
Another.
You’re alive? You hear your heart in your ears and wait for the excruciating pain of being stabbed – but, nothing. You realize he missed, or you dodged it in time. That is, until you hear a gurgle and a heavy thud behind you. Your skin crawls as you slowly peek over your shoulder, and with horror you realize the strange man didn’t miss, he wasn’t aiming at you in the first place.
The knife he was holding was lodged into the eye socket of a sabre-tooth tiger, and with a chill you realize the same one from earlier must have been stalking you.
It’s all too much. You feel lightheaded and the last thing you think is thank goodness you’re already on the ground before you black out.
The man blinks all eyes simultaneously.
This was the first time he took down a beast of that calibre without getting a few new scars to add to his collection, and it was honestly thanks to the strange woman.
Slowly, he walks towards both bodies lying there and drops to a crouch before them.
He scratches his head and realizes he's in a bit of a conundrum. How is he supposed to take both bodies back?
If he's being honest, the tiger is the prize. The meat, the bones, the pelt? Hell yeah. Under normal circumstances he’d already be on his way with the beast on his back, dragging it back to their campground.
His eyes shift to the woman.
How peculiar. He’d never seen anyone like her. Not the strange hide she wore, not the language she spoke earlier, and what’s that thing on her head? She was easily the smallest cave dweller he’d seen, even the shorter females in his band were a couple inches taller than her. More robust. She was clearly not from here. Maybe from a tribe further south?
He reaches out cautiously and takes a piece of the covering on her lower half between his fingers, feeling the material. Eyebrows furrowed, it was like nothing he’d ever felt; not leather, not fur, not even woven leaves as was typical of southern cavemen.
The giant sighs through his nose and straightens up.
Alright, looks like he’s about to set a new lifting record.

Your fingers click away at the keyboard, eyes flitting from the monitor to the real-time holographic display of the large, dense humanoid skull perched on the examining table in front of you. You click your teeth in annoyance at the stream of misspelt words on the screen, spamming the delete button to quickly fix your errors. You grumble under your breath and pause, cracking a knuckle to try to reset your hand since your fingers can’t keep up with the words in mind.
Just as soon as you finish this one last stupid report, you’d be out in the field where you were meant to be, digging up bones and clues and who knows what else. Your annoyance turns to giddiness at the thought.
“I’m surprised that keyboard isn’t up in flames yet with how fast you’re working it.” You don’t even flinch at the smooth voice coming in from the door to the lab behind you, finalizing the last detail before clicking the submit button with emphasis.
“DONE.” You whip around to face who had entered – Suguru – and hold out your hand expectantly, unable to contain your excitement. “Switch with me.”
He stares amusedly at you with crossed arms and a raised eyebrow. “Do you have any idea what time it is-”
“Doesn’t matter, I finished all the reports assigned to me. Now it’s your turn.” You impatiently motion with your outstretched hand for him to drop the access card that was meant for the excavation team into your palm. “Come on dude, I don’t have all day.”
He grimaces at the way you address him. “The day’s over dude, since you hadn’t noticed.” He matches your attitude with a roll of his eyes, clearly not appreciating the term.
It’s only then that you look up to the clock above the door and your eyes widen. How is it already six? You swore it was barely passed noon when you locked in and decided to finish your tasks a day early, but then again that was three reports ago.
You couldn’t help the whine the made its way past your mouth, shoulders drooping and head falling back in displeasure.
Suguru sniggers at your reaction. Add in a dramatic foot stomp and your tantrum would be complete, he thinks.
He hooks an arm around your neck and leads your frame out the door. “Come on, everyone’s meeting for dinner,” he chuckles.
As annoyed as you were, your overall excitement overshadowed any other emotion. How many other anthropology students were lucky enough to score summer research programs with their faculty head when a new hominin species was rumoured to be discovered? When Dr. Nanami received word of the discovery and was tasked with the excavation and analysis, he had his team set up the posting for summer interns. Luckily for you, you were recommended by your TA for your stellar marks in all your anthropology classes, and even luckier, your TA was part of Nanami’s team of researchers. The TA in question is Suguru Geto, who was coincidentally placed in charge of the four summer interns.
Suguru is very polite and respectful, not to mention a total hunk. What with his long, jet black hair and strong, lean body, you’d seen him earlier in the week at the onsen of the ryokan you were all temporarily staying at while your research tents and trailers were being set up, and wow. It took everything in you to tear your eyes away from the abs peeking out from his loosely tied yukata as he dried his hair with a towel, knowing he'd never let you live it down if he caught you ogling him.
You weren’t an idiot, you caught him stealing glances at you too from time to time, and when pairing up or assigning tasks, he’d keep you close to him to ‘show you the ropes’ as he’d like to put it. And as much as you would love the attention under normal circumstances, you were living out the start of your dream of being a paleoanthropologist following in the footsteps of none other than your hero: Dr. Kento Nanami, a master in the field. You had no time for romance right now.
You both make your way out of the research trailer, heading towards the dingey 24-hour diner where the rest of the larger team typically met up for dinners. In this remote part of the country, it was one of the few options offered. The bell chimes as you both enter, your eyes catching Haibara waving you down towards their tables.
“I’ll see you at the dig tomorrow morning.” Suguru concedes. The look on his face told you he was done with his teasing, a soft glint of amusement remaining. Your shoulders droop down in an exhale, and you feel the tension physically leave as you all but whine out, “You couldn’t have just said that earlier?”
He just pulls out the lanyard he promised you out of his pocket, dropping it into your hands as you both take your seats.
A small smile makes its way onto your face as you gaze down at your prized possession. Finally, you’ve been waiting for this!
The next morning, you are the first one up and ready to go at 7, flashing your orange access card proudly up towards the security checkpoint to be let in. You knew to make your way to the large, main research tent and get to your first task of the day: start the coffee pot up for everyone else slowly making their way into the tent. You struggle to contain your excitement, much to the amusement (and chagrin) of some of the senior researchers. Soon, Suguru parts the tent flap with a hand and a yawn, blinking down at you as he enters as you all but shove a steaming styrofoam cup into his hands.
“I thought I told you to wait for me. We’d go in together for your orientation.” He has to stifle another yawn.
“Well I read over the training booklet three times already, and went over the manuals you sent out. What’s left?” You blink.
He gives you a deadpanned look, muttering a “damn rookie” under his breath as he breezes past you and begins gathering the day’s supplies and tools.
The rest of the day is spent mostly in the tent, going over materials, procedures, tools, and how to handle newly dug up artifacts. Suguru is with you for most of the day, stepping out multiple times for an hour here or there to tend to his other responsibilities, and quizzes you upon his return. The other two interns – one of them Haibara – still on dig-duty would pop in from time to time to chit chat before going back to their own tasks. It isn’t until the next day when Suguru deems you prepared for actual field work.
Only to find out the field work was pure grunt work.
It had been four days now, and you begin to get a little impatient at not being more actively involved. You’re mainly just an assistant to Nanami’s colleagues, standing by as they dig, extract, and dust. The closest you got to any real work was when someone handed you a partial clay pot and instructed you to very carefully take it back to the main tent to be catalogued.
This dig site is apparently the site of a prehistoric community of hominins some thirty-thousand years ago. So far, twelve skeletal pieces have been found, all from the same species of early-modern human. They’re in disarray and fragments, so more analysis would be done later, but the buzz around the crew was that there was a new species, never before seen, located in the big cave at the edge of the roped off area. That’s where Nanami spent almost all his time, trying to preserve as much as he could with the help of only his trusted assistants, Suguru included.
Speaking of the devil, you feel a light tug on a strand of your hair and know it’s Suguru before you turn. Only he tries to get your attention like a ten-year-old.
You snap your head towards him. “When can I expect to do some actual work around here?”
The smile is wiped off his face at your attitude. His hair is dusty, and there’s dirt underneath his fingernails. You stare enviously.
“You’re an intern. What did you expect?” he rolls his eyes and brushes past you to grab a new water jug. You weren’t going to admit that you’re impressed with how easily he lifts the heavy gallon with one hand and starts making his way back to the cave.
You quickly change your tune, seeing your opportunity leave with him. You rush to catch up, cutting off his path. He glowers at you, no doubt about to tell you to get out of his way but you don’t give him the chance.
“I’m sorry it’s just, I’ve been looking forward to it for so long and you know how much I admire Dr. Nanami! Watching him work is something I’ve always dreamt of, and knowing you guys are right there in that cave while I’m out here is a tough pill to swallow.” You pout, gazing up at him with exaggerated wide eyes and you see the furrow in his brows soften.
Suguru sighs and shakes his head. “No can do. That cave is off limits to anyone who wasn’t granted clearance beforehand.”
You keep pushing. “Really? It just seems like such a waste, you went to all that trouble of showing me the tools and proper way to dig, I was hoping you’d be able to show me on an actual artifact.”
He brings up the hand that isn’t strained with the gallon jug to pinch the bridge of his nose, his large palm covering his mouth. He knows what you’re doing, he isn’t an idiot, but damn is he weak. You could see his resolve crumble right before your eyes.
One more push.
“Please? I’d love to see you in action.” You ask sweetly.
He cracked the second you reached out and touched his flexed arm.
“Fine.” He exhales. You bite back a grin at the sight of his ears turning red. “But you get five minutes, tops. I’m not risking my career because you got antsy.”
You jump for joy and holler, thanking him profusely. He grumbles under his breath as he instructs you to follow him to the cave.
Sneaking in was not at all that difficult, you just slowly walked in behind him, his large body naturally hiding you from the front. There surprisingly wasn’t anyone watching the entrance either, with how strict Suguru made it seem you thought he’d need his ID or something. Guess it made sense, this whole project was a small group of academics who were by the book, so if someone said don’t enter the cave, they wouldn’t. Then there was you… and Suguru now it seemed, poor guy.
The cave was large, and as you follow Suguru down what seemed like the main pathway, there was a smaller, narrower passage on the right that you passed by.
“It’s just a small pool of water.” He responds when you asked what it leads to. “There’s an underground water network that the locals use, it once provided water for this whole region.”
You stop when he stops, peeking around his side to see the place of your dreams: a large clearing in the middle of the cave, lit up by large camping lanterns. The clearing in front of you is a step lower than where you stand, clearly been dug out to help the excavation. There are a couple of people hovered around something on the far end, diligently working. All around you are what look like oddly shaped rocks, with little plastic cards with numbers to label them, but you know better. You know those were most likely the bones of a species so similar yet different from you. It all looks like an academic crime scene.
Suguru didn’t walk too far, just enough to swap the empty water gallon from the dispenser with the new one he brought, before making his way back to you. You’re a little nervous now, scared to get in trouble but it seems like everyone is too engrossed in what they’re doing to pay you any mind.
Suguru unclips his toolbelt from around his hips and hands it to you. He kneels down by the closest artifact still partially stuck in the ground and motions you to come closer.
“Pull out the chisel and mallet. You can practice by getting this out.”
You do as told and began slowly working at it under his guidance. It was an odd shape, almost like a dumbbell. You weren’t sure what this was supposed to be until you carefully cracked away at it some more, and a pointed edge started to take shape.
“Hm,” Suguru thoughtfully speaks, “it’s some type of tool, maybe a weapon with the way it juts out.”
You don’t get a chance to give any input before he plucks the chisel from your hands and stands up, grabbing your arm and hauling you up with him, despite your whispered protest.
“Well it doesn’t matter anyway, cuz you’re leaving now.” He brushes off his hands and ushers you towards the mouth of the corridor, shooing you away.
“Five more minutes?” You pout.
He smirks, “absolutely not.”
Eh, it was worth a try.
You head back the way you came, leaving him to get back to his work. You make it to the entrance of the cave before realizing you’re still clutching his toolbelt. You put the mallet back inside and turn back, passing by the smaller corridor.
You pause in front of it.
Stare into it.
You get a feeling you can’t quite put a name on; a curiosity, akin to attraction, and your feet begin taking you down the corridor before you can really think.
Just like Suguru had said, there was indeed a small pool of water there. You crouch down and gaze at the stunning water.
It was so still, so clear that you could see down to the bottom. See all the little rocks and pebbles, the little plants sticking out, barely swaying. It was like looking at something encased in jelly. You reach out your hand, the tip of your middle finger just kissing the cool surface –

It was a little past noon when your phone began buzzing in your hand, the reels you were watching in bed interrupted by your dad’s contact.
You sighed, knowing your lazy morning was over and the day was unfortunately going to begin now.
You pick up. “Hey dad.”
He hears the grogginess in your voice. “Morning kid, you up yet?” his voice echoed like he was on speakerphone.
“I am, just haven’t gotten up,” You reply sheepishly. It was Saturday after all.
His voice sounded urgent. “You need you grab more driveway sealant from the hardware store, I’m about to run out.”
Your eyes close in resignation. You have no idea what he was talking about but you guess you would find out.
You roll out of bed and get ready quickly, knowing he’s waiting for you outside. Before exiting the front door, you peep out the window and see him spreading out a tar-like substance all over the driveway while he chit-chatted with the neighbour. Boots wrapped in plastic bags and a large, outdoor broom in hand, you head out and greet him.
“That one, take a picture.” He points to the big bucket of sealant behind him, knowing you’d be lost once you get to the hardware store. You mentally curse your stupid brother for being so unreliable when this should be his job.
“Get two, I’m already on the third one but it’s not enough.” He hands you his car keys and card, and you make your way to the hardware store.
Finding the sealant was easy enough after asking a shop employee, and you figured it’d be heavy so you took a cart. Lifting the buckets, however, was another story. Thankfully the same employee was nearby and placed them in your cart for you.
Trudging through the shop and cashing out at checkout, you approach your car in the parking lot. Popping the trunk, you glance at the heavy buckets of tar in the cart, lips pursing in apprehension. Grasping the pail handle, you attempt to lift before realizing you’d need both hands, and still the damn bucket is too heavy. Recalibrating, you lean into the cart and grasp the pail around the body, grunting as you lug it up onto the edge. Heaving from the effort, preparing yourself to lift again, you startle as someone approaches from behind and takes the pail handle from you.
“Here, I got it,” a tall man nudges you to the side gently and resumes placing the pails in the trunk, effortlessly.
Damn, that’s hot, you blush.
Eyeing him from the side, he’s a tall, muscular man, cap backwards on his head with tufts of pink hair peeking out. His t-shirt sleeves are rolled up to his shoulders, exposing rings of tattoos around his biceps and shoulders, veins straining in his large arms as he lifts the items and places them carefully in your trunk. He turns to you as he shuts it, face expressionless and that’s when you see the tattoos on his nose and cheekbones as well.
“Good? Anything else?” He asks easily, strong fingers grasping your cart’s handle.
“Uh – no, that’s it,” you know you’re staring but you can’t stop, he’s so attractive. “You didn’t have to, thank you.”
He scoffs.
“Please,” he chuckles, “that bucket was about to pull you into the cart.”
Your mouth drops at his teasing and he seems pleased at that, lips pulling into an amused smirk.
“Hey! I’m stronger than I look you know,” – total fib – “I’m just conserving energy.” You roll your eyes.
“Heh, for what? You don’t strike me as the type to stand out in the heat and lay all this out.” His thick arms cross at his chest as he stares down at you in amusement, and you must say, he’s absolutely correct. And handsome.
You tilt your head as you look up at him, exaggerating a doe-eyed look. “Someone will,” you shrug, batting your lashes, “...like you did.”
His eyebrows raise in disbelief, a wide grin struggling to hold back a cackle at what you just said. He adjusts your cart in his hands, about to roll it back to the trolley parking before you stop him. “Hang on, I’ll take that back don’t worry about it,” your hand stops his from rolling away with it.
He stops but nods to the trolley-park right next to a large pick-up, “relax princess, my truck is next to it anyway.”
Princess? Oh lord have mercy.
He moves on, pushing your cart back into another and begins loading up long pieces of wood into the bed of his truck, what you assume to be his own shopping. You stand there for a moment dumbfounded, wondering if you should offer him help back but figure he’d just laugh at you, so you get into your car.
You sit there a moment fumbling with your Bluetooth while relax princess plays on loop in your head when you hear a rap at your window. Turning your head, a smile graces your lips when you see the man leaning an arm against the roof of your car, smiling back at you. You roll the window down, and he sticks his phone out to you, already open to add a new contact.
“For when you struggle to unload those buckets from your trunk.” He jokes.
You shoot him a flirty side-eye and accept his phone, tapping in your contact info. “Oh those buckets are no longer my responsibility as soon as I get home,” you call yourself from his phone, handing it back to him. “But I can treat you to a fancy coffee as thanks instead.”
He accepts, scoffing a laugh as he watches you save his number as bucket boy.
He leans back, letting you exit easily before waving as you exit the car park.
When you get home, your dad takes the pails easily out of the trunk and takes in your coy expression, a total difference from the grogginess you left with earlier.
“What’s up with you?” He asks, an eyebrow raised.
You shrug, dumbly smiling back and squeezing his cheeks affectionately before he swats your hands away. “A girl can’t be happy to help her baba?”
He nudges you away, grumbling under his breath, “it’s too hot for this, go get your brother, he’s finishing up here.”
You skip your way back inside, phone buzzing in your pocket.

sum. Hybrids don't exist. Not yet, anyway.
Humankind took a turn when, while diving in places they shouldn't, humans found a specimen that rests exactly between human and animal, uncanny, wrong to human eyes.
They named it merfolk.
And the next step was, of course, capture, explore, study, disturb - not exactly in that order, but you get the message.
You are kindly pressured into accepting a role to study a single subject that has been captured and caged, but not only that, you are now also responsible for teaching the subject your mother language, and you're doing it by sharing a house with it with no possibility to leave until they decide you're done.
