A writeblr kind-of intro:

One of my WIPs is a yet-unnamed historically-inspired fantasy book based on Slavic mythology. It’s a retelling of the Polish story, “The Unburied Man,” except with some differences (of course). 

My protag is a 17yo girl who has an affinity for the creepy crawly and dead. She goes to study at the capital city. She thinks she’s getting a regular education, but that soon devolves into alchemy and dark magic. Haven’t gotten the ending figured out yet, but I’m hoping there will be ghosts, gods, and probably a love story. Snippet under the cut.

It’s finished!

Tonight I finally finished the first draft of The Angel Peter and I’m absolutely ecstatic. It’s hard to believe that a few weeks ago I had literally nothing and now it’s all here! Final word count sits at 71,854 but it will be more than that by the second manuscript, since I know my pacing is off in some places and I need some additional scenes. I can say without a doubt that nano has been such a great experience and has pushed me to write more than I ever have done before, and I’m so glad that I did it. After the review process is done (aaaaaa) I’ll be on the lookout for beta readers, so please let me know if you’d be interested in that. A huge thank you to everyone who has shown interest in my wip and to those who have supported me -  I can never thank you enough!

wip introduction: ‘til death do us part

One year ago, Amelia’s mother passed away from a car accident. And one year ago, Amelia fell into a deep depression. Her loving father has done everything he possible could. Psychiatrists and therapists have been a temporary assistance, but nothing has made Amelia feel truly happy. Her mom used to make her feel happy. The kind of happy where you can’t stop laughing until there’s tears in your eyes.

The Monday after Amelia’s mother’s death, a new boy transfers in. Nobody knows where he came from nor do they really care. Amelia notices something different about him, and different is usually good. She sits next to him in psychology class and offers to let him copy her notes. The boy, now introduced as Leonard Roberts, brushes her off. He wants nothing to do with anybody.

After school that day, Amelia can’t do it anymore. Nothing is looking to be promising and she misses her mom an incredible amount. So, Amelia goes into her kitchen and plans to overdose when her father is at work. She is just about to follow through with her plan when someone grabs her by the wrist and stops her. Stunned and horrified, Amelia turns around and is face to face with Leonard.

She questions how he got into her house when the doors and windows were clearly locked. Leonard apologizes for giving her the cold shoulder. He then tells her that he is a fallen angel and is in a mortal body to redeem himself. Amelia, of course, thinks Leonard is crazy. She does hear him out though. 

“Stop!”

The silence echoed. It shattered. It throbbed with the anguish of a thousand unspoken words.

His voice raw. His head hurt. And yet he still had the courage to asked, “Why?”

But it was ignored, the quiet question that lingered soon after. Why do you push me away?

“The day I meet you was the day I wanted to stay. The day you left I wanted to follow.” Pursed lips followed his gentle yet reluctant statement. “I was Granny’s Northern Star, so I figured at the very least I could guide you back home.”

“You weren’t just a star, you were the whole damned sky!” Tears trembled at the edge of the other’s eyes. “If you had to be my star, than at least let me be your darkness.”

He gave a small smile. “I would expect nothing more from a pompous, cheating and overall rude one — why are you looking at me like that?!”

Laughter echoed in the alleyway. “Because if I’m that, then you are a stick-to-the-walls kind of guy who doesn’t even know that I’m more suited to darkness than you think.”

It was a blink and you’ll miss it situation. It was blood and loss and four kids against the world. It was Erin with all his bottled-up resentment. It was Sal with their stone heart and childlike eyes. It was Aiden with his unforgiving love. It was Felix, too young, too soon, too much.

It was the past.

Now, a sudden disappearance shocks the town. Old gods return, and the people start asking questions. About the boys who left innocent and returned sullied. About the fog in the forest and the fire on the lake. About the cries that rip the night sky in two. About the eyes that follow you home, haunting, hollow.

It’s Erin, Sal, Aiden, Felix. Too young, too soon, too much. Still.

STARS IN THE BLOOD — Desdemona Eaton x Adrian Spence.

It was kind of fucked up to think of someone from Luna as exotic, but there was something about Mister Spence that wasn’t quite right. His accent was too clean and crisp. When someone asked him something that made him uncomfortable, he tugged at the wrists of his suit. He walked like he was riding on twelve inches of steel. But there was an undeniable allure in how strange he was, in how he acted like how he carried himself didn’t matter because no one was looking at him in the middle of all of this. That wasn’t true, though. Des was looking. Sure, sometimes that looking was more squinting than anything else, but the element of curiosity was still there. No one on the station really prodded at those parts of her. Then again, there were no strangers on Ilus. Spence coughed into the back of his hand. Desdemona’s head drifted slowly to the side. This time, he caught her looking rather than squinting and immediately dropped his own gaze.

Beacon is a guide from the land of lost things, tasked with returning items to their proper places. Haze is a lost girl in no rush to get home. The scenic route through the cosmos gives way to an interstellar romance that burns uncontrollably bright.

Story Summery:

If Laila didn’t know any better, she’d think that she’d been transported into the pages of a romance novel. Because it’s not every day that a boy too handsome and perfect to be true falls madly in love with her in the most cliche way possible and then proceeds to try and enact the most cliche romance (with her) in existence.

But that’s exactly what happens, and Laila finds herself not only thwarting off the advances of one amorous boy but trying to understand how no one in her life notices what’s happening. Or why she can’t seem to remember how she got into this mess in the first place.

As if that’s not bad enough Laila soon finds herself trapped repeating the same day over and over again, except with each day comes a different boy professing his undying love for her. With every cliche she’s forced to suffer through Laila comes to realize that something greater is at work here, and that the longer she stays the smaller her chances of finding a way home become.

However Laila quickly finds out that she can’t do this on her own; if she wants to escape then she’ll need to rely on the help of others.

But who can she turn to when she’s the only one who sees what’s going on?

Or, the story as I like to call it: That One Time Laila Was Involved In More Romantic Subplots Than She Ever Wanted To Be In Her Entire Life

These Hungry Dogs is based loosely around German folklore and culture and follows closely, if not inspired, from the events in World War I and II. Themes such as propaganda, grim reality of war, and some religious aspects will be the backbone of this story. It is currently in progress, second draft as of now, making this my longest-running project (I blame my fifteen-year-old self)

Disguised as soldier, leverage by the king, he forged his way into the heart of the devil’s kingdom, carving a path for the war dogs who fashioned their loyalty under his name. But there were two things that the war had kept from them; becoming a devil was one thing and stealing the forest was another. Nevertheless, Leon cannot keep his end of his deal when everything he once knew was consumed by the cannibalistic gods. But Leon forgotten he was one of them now.

the problem with having imperfect characters in a perfect world gives them leverage to change themselves. but give them a imperfect world, they desire to become madness, itself. their hearts would change in order to compete, unless they are willing to lose themselves to these vengeful spirits that wish nothing but their minds and hearts. to win - one has to cut their limbs in order to succeed and survive this terrible world
