Anyone want some Dawnbringer fluff???
It had been a long day, this hero business could be exhausting at the best of times, but the night had simply sailed by. A blur of drinks, stories, songs - all the good parts of the hero gig. By now though, most of the hangers on had passed out or found a companion for the night, Brock and Kayle had been splayed across a table in the tavern. Odds are they'd find them in the morning cheery and bright eyed, ready to do it all over again. For now though, he could enjoy the quiet and calm.
She gently swung their arms as they walked hand in hand down the empty and silent streets. The two of them simply wandered silently, occasionally looking up towards the glittering sky, but mostly he just looked at her. Months ago she had found him dying in a ditch, he could never have imagined that would lead him here, hopelessly in love with her.
He hadn't yet mustered up the courage to tell her but he was getting there. Nervously rubbing her thumb with his, he could feel his heart start galloping. Now would have to be the moment.
Stepping in front of her, he began to stammer his planned out little speech,
"Nyah I uh - uhm I - I wanted to give you something."
Raising her eyebrow in suspicion she stood there looking up at him.
Kneeling down he could see her face go from suspicion to curiosity to shock. She gasped, covering her face.
Reaching into his inner coat pocket he pulled out what he had been holding onto all day. Truth be told it was the most romantic thing he could think of and was actually kind of proud of himself.
Nyah's face went from shock and twisted in confusion, no doubt she had expected a ring so she was rather surprised to see the sheathed dagger he held out.
"I uh - I know it's probably not what you were expecting but uhm." He had to pause to swallow the lump in his throat as it went dry. "The last time we were in town I went to see the local blacksmith and commissioned him to make this."
"Uhm, thank you?" She replied, still clearly confused.
"Right I should explain. Uh well I guess it's kind of a symbol."
"Oooof?"
"It shows that I'll always be devoted to you, if I ever stop being the man you deserve, turn this on me."
"Jared…"
"It means that I'll never leave you but for when I'm not around this can protect you." So far this was going better than he had expected. "And it's made of two different metals," unsheathing it he showed her the etched blade with it's dark edge and bright spine. "Two metals, one knife. The two of us -"
Cutting his speech short she lunged at him, throwing her arms around his neck and slamming her mouth into his. After what felt like an eternity of pure and warm bliss, she finally relented. Moving her hands to his jaw and pressing her forehead to his she sat on his knee.
"I love you Jared."
"I love you Nyah… Sooo is that a yes?"
She planted another long kiss on him, she gave her answer. In a low and breathy whisper she replied,
"Of course."
