hiiii i’m lia (they/them, 21+) & i’m here to introduce 75th floor (sea side) resident singer-songwriter SON HWIYEON, who is far better known by her stage name wooyeon and her one (1) pop song called “lipgloss” that went internationally viral years n years ago and kind of became a meme ( think like rebecca black’s “friday” and crj’s “call me maybe”  😭 )

her secret is that she was in a secret relationship with the daughter of her previous recording label’s ceo & is now plagued w/ imposter syndrome bc of it ! she basically went like Wait , is favoritism the only reason i keep getting green-lit for albums....and freaked out, so she broke off the rs and parted ways with the label, and is now with a new label & making new music. unfortunately it’s been a year now and the syndrome still persists 🤕 bonk 

her links will be above when i’m done with them, but for now there’s bullet points & plot ideas below the cut ! if you like this, i’ll msg u for possible plots, but im v chill we can just figure out a starter and see where chemistry goes if you’d prefer <3 thank u sm for reading this far already !!

    she could only let out a rather unceremonious sniffle in reply as hwiyeon fully realized what was going on. she didn’t know if the hwiyeon had some magic mirror that told her when jiyeon was in trouble, or what exactly, but they seemed to have some otherworldly knowledge from an all knowing source. “i really am sorry…” she offered, her voice barely above a whisper. when hwiyeon glossed over her involvement in the malfunction she felt like she could breathe just a little bit better. she managed to crack a smile, still sniffling a bit as she did but her tears were beginning to dry. 

    another voice cut through their conversation and her ears burned bright red and she tucked herself in to make herself smaller, hoping to avoid their ire. the panic in her eyes was evident as her head snapped in their direction. before she could even begin to vomit apologies, hwiyeon stepped in a saved her, yet again. she mouthed words of thanks to the singer, feeling the embarrassment of the entire situation suffocate her. she could only imagine how the other felt always having to come to her aid but she was thankful for it. she wished she knew how to thank them.

    “i really don’t know. i dropped my marshmallow in there and wanted to get it so i used this fork. i couldn’t just stick my hands in there, that’s poor hygienic practice for events like this. maybe i accidentally hit something inside with the fork?” her cheeks were once again a shade of deep crimson as she tried to walk through the events that led to the malfunction. “oh gosh, should i tell one of the staff? is it going to explode?” she panicked, holding a napkin up to shield them from the chocolate. 

“mm. you know what, i probably would’ve just stuck my hand in there without thinking, so you did one better than me,” she allowed, skirting neatly around the messier end of the table. despite most of their encounters following some similar script, she liked to think she was a passable judge of character, and jiyeon never seemed to have bad intentions.

she just seemed to be a bad luck magnet. hwiyeon felt secondhand terrible about it.

“there’s got to be some kind of pipe that makes all the chocolate flow around, right? maybe you accidentally wedged the marshmallow somewhere it wasn’t supposed to go.” hwiyeon grabbed one of the fondue forks on the table and took a deep breath. she could hear the embarrassment in jiyeon’s voice and wished she could say out loud that it was just a stupid fondue machine and the organizers could definitely afford another one, that it wasn’t worth getting worried over. but hwiyeon had been there before, had had to stand under mortifying scrutiny over something she had no control over. “don’t worry,” she said then, “we can fix this.”

holding onto the back of jiyeon’s shirt with one hand and stretching the fork out with her other. she managed to dip half of the prongs into the fountain, rooting around as best as she could without leaving the safety of jiyeon’s napkin-shield. “if this explodes---”

a plate of dessert balanced angrily in one hand, hwiyeon leaves the latest tent she’d been inspecting and moves on to the next one. in the spirit of glamping, she’d claimed one of the tents when she arrived and left a foolproof mark of claim -- her bag and her blanket -- but clearly someone wasn’t respecting the sanctity of claims here, because she returned to the tent only to find it filled with someone else’s things instead and hers nowhere in sight.

“have you seen my stuff?” she’d asked the new couple.

“the tent was empty when we got here,” they said, innocently.

hwiyeon didn’t buy it, but she wasn’t going to be That Person causing a scene in the middle of some luxurious camping night. it was already a scene by itself. so she’d taken her dessert, and she’d set off on the arduous and increasingly irritating quest of finding her things.

“knock knock,” she said by way of announcing herself, louder than the actual knocks she gave against the next tent pole. “are either of you the assholes who took my--” she takes a step forward too quickly and almost walks right into someone passing by. “hey, fu-- jaemin?”

lilith swore that they could take care of themselves. even when they were reckless and belligerent and on the verge of yet another arrest for public disturbance. of course, the night didn’t always end that way. somehow, someway, lilith almost always ended up with hwiyeon on the other end of their phone. a soft hiccup followed by slurred words, interrupted by lilith clearly in an argument with some random person.

“hwi” hiccup “i’m at a party” hiccup “i don’t know where my car is.” that was usually all it took and lilith’s own personal rescue team was on the way, which only consisted of hwiyeon, one of the very few people lilith would never admit to trusting with their whole life.

the night ended just the same any other. hwiyeon, who had become a professional at taming a wild lilith, would bring them home. lilith would waste no time falling face first onto their bed and diving into one of the deepest slumbers anyone could ever experience. lilith liked to call them “the closest thing to death” since it was the only time they were actually numb to any and all feelings.

lilith grumbled at the feeling of their bed sinking in and rolled over onto their stomach. lilith brought their blankets up to cover their face in an attempt to block out the brightness of the room. “too early.” lilith groaned, soon dozing back off. lilith kicked their leg when something hard smacked against it. “go eat. pancake.” they mumbled. “hwi…there’s pizza in the fridge leave’m lone.”

“it’s almost noon,” she repeated, muffled. “and i actually -- ow -- ate the last slice last night. you know if i’m not fed before noon i’ll turn into a monster, right?” hwiyeon twisted around to untangle herself from the sheets, although a few seconds later she only found herself tangled a little worse. with a grunt, she sat up and brought a chunk of the sheets with her, patting around for lilith’s knee.

     jiyeon could only throw her hands up defeat as she stared at the chocolate fondue fountain she had been trying to get to work. somehow she had broken it and now no chocolate would flow but it also seemed to be dripping something out of the back? maybe it was chocolate, she couldn’t be sure. a look of terror slowly crept onto her delicate features as realization settled in. she had broken something at the fancy event noeul gardens had put on in front of everyone. sure she had the money to replace it thousands of times over but that was hardly the point. it was the embarrassment of being known as a klutz or someone who broke everything they touched that loomed over her like a dark cloud.

     her face had already turned a brilliant shade of red and she was blinking away tears as she tried to get the blasted thing to just work!! she could feel someone come up behind her and quickly wiped her face, offering a nervous chuckle that sounded more like a whimper than a laugh. “i didn’t do it, i swear. it just stopped working all of a sudden.” she turned and was greeted with a familiar face. “oh hwiyeon-ah, you always seem to find me in situations like this, don’t you?’ she had enough sense to look embarrassed and offered a bow of contrition. 

hwiyeon hadn’t been planning on staying the whole night. sleeping around other people was unnerving -- and be caught snoring? she’d rather stay awake for forty-eight consecutive hours -- and the dessert table had sounded promising but there wasn’t even a trace of it, so what was--

oh. no, there it was, coming into view when the right person shifted and revealed a few glittering rows of sweets. hwiyeon excused herself from the small talk she’d been making by the door and made a beeline for the table, because she’d also heard that there would be a fondue fountain.

instead, she found jiyeon. well, she found the fondue fountain too, but it was...

“oh, jiyeon-ah,” she echoed in dismay, moving away from the mess starting to coagulate in the back. one glance at jiyeon told her that she didn’t need to say anything else, and she felt a resounding pang of sympathy when she noticed the slight shine to jiyeon’s eyes. i really do, she was about to say, but she couldn’t handle her crying! “i mean, yeah. i saw the bastard who did this two minutes ago. the nerve of some people.”

“who?” a newcomer cried out from the other side of the table, looking aghast at the sight of the fountain. “what am i going to have with my strawberries now?”

on the list of inopportune but comfortable places hwiyeon’s ever fallen asleep at, lilith’s couch is rapidly and somewhat worryingly climbing the rankings. it’s on par with the recording studio’s couch, possibly the only place that isn’t her own bed where she’s crashed more often than lilith’s apartment, and maybe even a little better -- there’s only a little crick in her neck when she finally shuts up that gargoyle’s voice in the back of her head going, but isn’t the sun on the ceiling so much nicer to look at, and forces herself to stand up.

see, it could be worse. lilith could have, like, a shittier couch.

the world’s a little wobbly. hwiyeon yawns, big and unsightly, the kind of yawn her mother probably would’ve nagged her about once upon a time, and grunts when she runs her hand through her hair and realizes her neck’s hurting because she’d slept with a ponytail in. “how many times do you have to fuckin’...” struggling to yank it free from the knots and muttering to herself the whole while, she pads through lilith’s living room to the kitchen for some water.

she’s still in the jeans and shapeless hoodie she’d pulled on when lilith called last night, including the mismatched pair of socks she’d blindly thrown on when she rolled out of bed half-asleep grumbling at them through her phone. ugh, again? she remembers groaning, not for the first time. you so owe me for this, she remembers saying when she was herding a drunk lilith into her car, not for the first time. i mean it! she remembers saying to the stoplight halfway home, not for the first time.

and here she is, probably also not for the last time, fishing out the water bottle she’d shoved in the fridge after she wrangled them into bed last night and a bottle of aspirin from her bag. the apartment’s still quiet, so she figures lilith’s still asleep, but hwiyeon’s hungry and there’s nothing in the fridge that she knows how to make a meal out of.
