“You. Take. That. BACK!” Ashe said, jabbing a finger at the kid. She knew this was stupid. Deep down, she really knew it was. But she couldn’t help it. She poured so much money into that milkshake shop that she was completely invested into it now. 

“They make the best milkshakes in this part of town! You didn’t even take a SIP from it!”

“You don’t have to be mean about it.” For a human, it would have been an absolutely stupid idea. But she couldn’t say that or even allude to it. Hanon hated having to grin and bear the smart ass for his ‘kindness’ but it wasn’t worth her own life. 

“I’m sorry, but thank you for stopping me doing something stupid” in front of a human… 

“hey. i’m not the one in the freezing water.” he puts bluntly. besides, it wasn’t like he called her stupid. he was just calling her decision stupid. there’s a difference. at least to him, there was. 

hearing words of appreciation, sean only gives a faint nod in return. he was never the one for formalities. not that he didn’t know how to -- it just felt awkward for him to do so.

      there it went again, that same nudge with his ear; bringing it down. oh lord, why did you have to give him to me as my partner ? couldn’t it at least been someone who could try . 

she gives her own huff, pointing to the paper.

       “    here, I wrote the equation down for you. now just plug in the numbers, and solve–! Should be easy—remember BEDMAS——and then convert to kilograms, and then draw a diagram. SUPER easy ! “ 

she offers him a pencil, but quickly decides to hit him on the head with it instead—soft so it wouldn’t hurt too badly. 

“  —don’t laugh—-I’m tough—   “

she looks like a marshmallow 

he winces -- before giving his partner a brief glare. "I wasn’t.” and yet despite denying so, the urge to laugh resurfaces. he couldn’t help it. it was like he was being threatened by a small chihuahua. nearly giving in to the comical thought, eyes lay focus on the paper, in which sean exerts a groan. he had almost forgot about the project for a moment there. 

after a few seconds, he looks away. he really doesn’t want to do this. though as much as didn’t, he wasn’t going to waste him time arguing either. so without further ado, he begins to quickly skim over the material.

Fuck fuck fuck. He was right! She didn’t know this kid’s name so she had no idea if he actually wrote that review. She was going to have to try a different tactic. “…Because you threw the milkshake into the trash can! Don’t think I forgot about that! You dumped into the trash can and I KNOW it was you who said they found a FLY in their milkshake! I KNOW IT!”

           there’s a quiet pause that passes through the two. she’s merely staring at him, before————-

she yanks on his ear softly—gentle enough not to hurt, but rough enough to put his head towards the project.

        “     work, or I’ll destroy you-    “

shes tiny. not threatening at all.

wait. was that suppose to be...threatening ? it didn’t really occur to him as such until he quickly pulled away from her gentle, yet sudden tug. because if anything, his partner was the least from threatening. she was so delicate - so tiny. not that sean had any room to talk. he was just as tiny, if not smaller.

That was too close. Hanon thought that she was alone and even checked around before attempting to slowly sink into the water. Where the boy came from was a mystery, but lucky for her he had spoken up before the mermaid’s secret was revealed. Heart racing and still in shock, she replied as calmly as she could. “I- I just wanted to see how cold it was…” Stupid. What kind of excuse was that?
