This one plays out the day after Mike cut his hair impulsively. WOAH OWN 'EM WHEELER

Enough "Mike getting the shovel talk" fics.

GIVE WILL THE SHOVEL TALK!

Mike has already gotten his confidence beaten to hell and back, he doesn't need any more. This boy hates himself, any shovel talk a character gives him is lightwork compared to what his brain is telling him.

But Will? Listen, I love him so much, but he is just as if not more oblivious than Mike! "It's Hawkins, it's not the same without you" "Crazy together, right?" so on and so forth. Yeah, Will have the painting confession WHERE HE LIED but that was all he had. Mike was always more upfront with his feelings than Will, just in smaller doses.

The only reason we haven't seen Mike cry over something Will did is cause he hasn't cried since season 2, okay? Don't forget that Will didn't write letters either. Communication is a two-way street, boys. And Will was the one whose mom had a telemarketer job, not Mike.

I love these two so fucking much, but if I see another fic or post or whatever where Mike is getting dunked on for normal teenage boy things, his depression, his emotional repression, or his internalized homophobia, I'll commit murder.

They've both messed up, okay?

Everyone has delved to hell and back on Mike's shit.

But WILL HAS MESSED UP TOO!

Please, for the love of God, let yourselves realized that while he is a good person, he has fumbled a bit. And, yes, he did it thinking it was all for "the best", but fucking so did Mike! They have some of the same issues! And it has led to them both getting hurt!

Neither Mike nor Will sent letters in those five months and whilst Mike canonically tried to call (hence the complaining), Will didn't. Will is also the one who starts the arguments. Mike says terrible things during them, but Will is always the first to push (literally and figuratively)

This is not a Will Byers hate post. I love that boy so much. But I really wish more people admitted to both of them having flaws and messing up with each other. It is not just Mike who has messed up.
