Blade was certain he’d be prepared for anything. A difficult mission is assigned to him? He’ll complete it with the same stoic resolve he always bears. Silver Wolf whining at him to bake for her? A tray of fresh cookies, coming up. He’d give his all to defend those he held dear, no matter what came their way.

But this…wasn’t what he was expecting.

His most recent mission was to a desolate ocean planet to investigate a life form signal that shouldn’t have been there. He was told it would be a simple in and out mission, no attachments or follow-ups. However, as he approached the signal, he caught a glimpse of what sent the signal.

A young girl, no older than ten. There was no way he could just leave her there, and the way she sobbed and clung to him once he arrived broke his heart further.

Once back on the Stellaron Hunter’s base, the one she grew closest to (besides Blade) was you, a fellow Hunter and coworker of Blade. Of course, Blade advised her many times not to touch his weapons, but he would stumble upon you showing the little one how to fight now and then. You were safe about it, caring in a way that made his dead heart beat again. Watching you train the one he took in was always a happy sight for him (when he wasn’t worried about the girl’s safety, of course. Though he trusted you with her).

Soon enough, Blade caved to the girl’s relentless requests to teach her forging. He figured it would be good to spread his craft on to future generations, since he himself could no longer forge like he used to. With scarred hands and a gentle resolve, he demonstrated how to create the perfect blades for battle.

Though…she seemed to take somewhat of a different approach. When her first sword was created, she embedded dazzling rubies into its hilt and tied a pretty pink bow around the blade’s base.

“This is not out of unkindness, but simply curiosity. Why do you decorate your blade like so?” Blade asked the little girl once, while she was beaming from ear to ear about her new creation.

“It’s pretty! Don’t you think?” Her smile was enough to elicit his own, albeit small. Pretty things made her happy, and that was enough for Blade. He vowed to always protect that promise, and that brilliant smile of hers.

You noticed when she brought her new creation to training. “Look, look! Look what Papa showed me how to make!” She exclaimed, rushing over to show the sword off. You gushed over how well it was made, and how sparkly and pretty it was decorated. She couldn’t stop grinning that day, and you knew that from then on, you’d also do anything to protect that happiness.

However, being her first sword, you were fully expecting it to be brittle, maybe even break upon first use. There was no way such a young child could forge an excellent, sharp weapon on her first-

Oh.

The sword sliced clean through the training dummy in a shimmering arc of pink. The wielder turned back to see your reaction - you were stunned to say the least - and beamed even brighter.

“It’s good, right?” She asked, gently sliding the sword back into its sheath (something Blade had taught her).

“That was…incredible! You are quite the talented forger and warrior, you know?” You grin, patting her head.

Blade heard all about this from the girl herself that night. The minute she returned to him, she couldn’t stop raving about how much she loved her new sword - and how much she loved him for teaching her that skill.

That was the first time you’d ever seen Blade cry, happy tears nonetheless.

And who knew? Maybe someday, maybe even sooner than you thought, you’d get to become a real part of that family, at Blade’s side with the girl.

Are there any open-source workspaces you would recommend for me to start out with?

hello !! I use the lowest-tier paid version of fl studio ($100) and its been very simple to use which is why I picked it :) however I have heard good things about about daws too so be sure to do your research before buying the one that’s right for you ofc !! unfortunately I don’t know of any free daws that are of great quality, but fl studio does have a free version (it just doesn’t let you save, so I’d have to screen record when I used it)
