doing things on your own, worrying a/b who is coming to save you is the last thing on your mind. you reach a point where you can take it or leave it to be honest.

so, you make a habit of telling yourself, “i’ve made it this far. just keep going.” but at what cost? everyone needs community. real support. authentic love.

friendship showed me that. i am eternally grateful to them & proud of myself for not getting in my own way.

noone told me that the harder you hold on the easier it slips through your fingers.

that if you’re lucky you will be loved for simply existing instead of what you can produce.

that most will find it easier to “love” you when you are a shell of yourself, insecure and naive.

that they will take advantage of your faith and call that loving you.

that you will stay and call that love, too.

nobody told me that people will move to convince you that none of that is a reason to stop trying.

that if love is what we want then we must have the resilience to endure until the universe rewards us.

nobody told me there may come a day that i will realize i don’t want it that bad or in the way the world says i must.

nobody told me, but i will tell others.

because for some of us love is simply being safe in our body. without somebody.

and that is enough.
