There are many people who don’t share this sentiment, but I have an appreciation for when a fanfic is so separated from canon that it could’ve easily been its own original novel, and yet the author was only ever going to put that much energy into it if their favourite characters got to be there
I think there’s a difference between “the author stripped the media of everything it had to replace it with something easy” and “the author thought up a concept they really really like and are bestowing it upon the character like a medal”

I think one of, if not the biggest sign that someone is in love is when they notice the little things about the person. What does Harry notice about Ginny, other than the smell of her hair? What foods does she like? What does she get in the mail? What exact shade is her eyes? What are her friends’ names? What kind of natural gestures/fidgets does she do while talking? What do her footsteps sound like? Harry sure doesn’t know.
Whereas he knows Draco likes sweets and gets care packages of them in the mail, he knows Draco’s eyes are pale silver, he knows Draco hangs out with Crabbe and Goyle and Pansy and Blaise and Theo (without even speaking a word to Pansy, Blaise or Theo, he knows their names), he knows Draco enthusiastically gestures with his arms while talking to his friends (and has a sense of what exactly Draco is talking about from the OTHER SIDE OF A LONG HALL FULL OF 200+ PEOPLE), and he knows Draco’s footsteps as soon as he hears them.
Forget about the little things. Harry doesn't even notice the big things about Ginny. Her interests, opinions, goals and social circle are a giant question mark because Harry knows literally nothing about her. Literally the only thing he cares about is how hot she is. Their whole dynamic in book 6 is the embodiment of 'lust not love.' (Which is a notable departure from book 5 so JKR really messed up badly).
And then yeah. As you say when it comes to Draco Harry knows SO MUCH. Even though he has no reason to since they're not together much. Harry has LIVED with Ginny for multiple summers and vacations. But it's Draco that he (and by extension we the readers) know everything about.
Quidditch is a huge part of what brings Harry and Ginny together in HBP and plays a very large role in Ginny’s story moving forward, as she is apparently good enough to go professional. Harry spends an incredibly large amount of time staring at her during practice and is so distracted by her that he repeatedly gets hit by bludgers. So logically, We The Reader should know something about how Ginny plays Quidditch, since Harry is paying so much attention to her while she’s on the pitch. So, what strategies does she employ? What are her strengths? What are her weaknesses? What broom does she ride? These are some really basic questions that we should be able to answer if Harry was actually paying attention to her as a person and not just a thing to stare at… And we know that because I’m absolutely able to answer all of those questions when they are applied to Draco fucking Malfoy, so doing the same for Ginny should be a breeze when it comes to Harry’s narratively assigned soulmate, right?

i'm replaying kcd2 after my replay of the first game and just got past the intro bit where hans is leading henry through the woods as he's having flashbacks of skalitz and i just. i think this fandom really overlooks how much hans looks out for henry just as he does hans. like yeah haha hans damsel in distress but like hans will Square Up to someone if it means protecting henry. LIKE!! he jumped that bandit who breaks into bozhena's hut with no armour on for henry!!! he will never give up on henry he will always fight for henry just as henry does hans ): theyre so special

I’ve seen a lot of depictions of Henry and Hans parting ways post kcd2 because they were cautious, or most often found out by someone. And Henry is always the reasonable one to pull away and ride in the horizon despite Hans pleading him to stay.
And I get the vision. I truly do. But I can’t really see it.
Henry is canonically and very obviously shown and told to be a little shit who does whatever he wants, and stops at nothing to get it. This guy cuts in on conversations between Von Bergow and Hans to add (relevant) details, even though he’s seen as a lowly servant at Trosky, he still steps forward like he owns the place. In front of Von Bergow. He talks back to Radzig (about being abandoned, understandable) and Hanush ("if he doesn’t want to get married, you can’t force him to, right ?") without a care in the world, and can look the Margrave in the eye and lie to him without blinking.
The thing is, Henry is just sensible and lucky enough to not get caught and get himself killed when on his own. In unknown territory and left alone at the pillory, the best plan was to befriend the locals and get a steady job and place to sleep. But when Hans is involved, most of Henry’s good sense vanishes into thin air. Bursting into a camp of armed cumans after one sword training. Stepping between Hans and ten men armed with crossbows. Infiltrating a highly secured fortress while knowing that Hans’ life isn’t technically in any danger. When Hans is involved, Henry becomes just as reckless - not to say twice as reckless - as him.
All this to say, even if they’re discovered in Rattay, I think Henry would find a way to stay. And not just because he wants to for himself - because Hans would be just as opposed to the idea as him. They have each other’s backs through and through. Henry would find a way to blackmail the person who threatens him or send them away. He would get his results one way or another.
