I’m well aquatinted with jealousy. The way it drips thick in your throat And makes your words stick there. The way the bitterness boils in your gut, As a feeling in the back of your mind whispers That they don’t appreciate what they have, But that you would, oh, you would.

I get caught between Disgust at myself for feeling this way And anger at my friends for not noticing, not helping.

There’s always been to much inside my head, Too many thoughts and feelings an memories. Too many fears and worries and wants. I kept them there, to rot or blossom, And kept my mouth too shut.

After keeping everything to myself for So long, Too long, I’m not sure how to open up and share it. My life is a mess that Doesn’t even make sense in context.

“I do have a nice bond with her, I think. I’m sorry your adoptive parents didn’t accept you. I hope you find lots of people who care about you just as you are. My siblings and I were put into foster care for a while after our parents got arrested… So I know the system can be bad.”

“Yeah. It can get warm enough for the snow to melt in summer, though it’s cold or cool most of the year. And yeah, it is my favorite. My mom would tailor it when I outgrew it, and eventually she taught me how and we would work on it together. So my parka is special to me.”

“So…you have a special bond with your mom then?” Ellie couldn’t help but envious of him over this. If only that was something that she had. “I was adopted so I never got to meet my real parents. Unfortunately, I was never close to my adoptive parents either. They wanted me to mold into what they wanted instead of accepting me for who I was.”

Any sexual contact between an adult and a child is abuse, as is “romantic” non-sexual contact.

I think that making sure people know they can chose not to do abusive things is a really important part of preventing this abuse. It is also important to hold people accountable for abuse if they abuse anyone.
