The door of the bathroom closing behind you, you patted your towel over your hair, trying to dry it as quick as possible.
Your day was almost over, dinner already eaten and you were ready to go to bed. Except, someone was waiting for you. Not under the cover, but on your phone.
As you rushed inside your bedroom, the familiar ringtone made you smile. 21:21. At least where you were at the moment. Like every day for the past few weeks, it was time for your usual FaceTime with your boyfriend Jisung. FaceTime has become a regular part of your routine.
"Hi!"
"Hey Baby!"
You waved your hand as the face of your boyfriend appeared on your phone. Seeing you smile, Jisung couldn't stop his own smile from coming on his face. Every night, he saw it. Every night, his stomach would tingle, his chest would buzz. Maybe because he was too shy, he would never tell you that he was waiting for this "two-of-you moment". Several times a week, you'd call each other when you'd both have time, since he left for Stray Kids' world tour. Time zone wasn't making it easy, but you had no problem going to bed later if that meant you could talk to your boyfriend.
"Ji? You know you can go to sleep, right? I can tell you about my day through text."
"No. I'm okay," Jisung lied. You chuckled as he blinked a few times, furrowing his eyebrows. "See? I'm perfectly awake. I'm the one asking about your day, I have to listen to you. And I want to."
"You don't have to listen to me. I mean, you can if you want, but it's not an obligation. How about you lie down and I'll keep talking to you about it?"
Jisung whined and leaned his head against the wall.
"Jisung, you're sleeping."
"No, 'm not."
You chuckled as your boyfriend lay on his back, pressing his hands against his eyes. Wiping his face down - maybe to wipe the tiredness away - he placed the phone back against the headrest of the bed.
"I'm awaaaaake!"
He whined. Jisung was tired. Really tired. Exhausted. Because of the meetings with the group, because of the training, because of the shows. Somehow... he'd prefer to stay awake for an hour or two. He'd spend time with you, even if it was through a phone. You were way more important than an 8-hour-long night to him.
"Tell me about your day, baby. How did your little hangout with your friends go?"
Yes, Jisung was almost sleeping. Yes, the pillow against his cheek was calling him. But seeing your face lighten up was the thing he needed right now.
"And then, we were about to leave the store when I saw something that reminded me of you. Wait."
As you left his screen, Jisung raised his head, a bit surprised.
"Where..."
He mumbled and unconsciously tilted his head, trying to follow you. Realizing what he was doing, he bursted into laughter, hiding his face into his pillow. He was still chuckling when you came back to your phone, hands behind your back.
"What's so funny?"
"Okay, don't call me dumb. But when you left, I actually tilted my head to see where you were going."
You chuckled, pushing your hair out of your face as you sat back down.
"See? Another sigh that says how tired you are."
Jisung pouted, knowing that you were right.
"I'm not, I'm just... dehydrated. Yeah. That's when I don't drink enough water. Things like this happen."
You rolled your eyes as he took a sip of water, keeping the liquid in his cheeks. How could he be so cute? His round cheeks, his glistening eyes, and how we pouted so cutly? You looked down at the plush you were holding. Was it a squirrel or a quokka? You had no idea, but as soon as you saw it, it reminded you of your boyfriend.
"Anyway, you wanted to show me something?"
"Look!"
Jisung burst into laughter as your face disappeared from his screen, replaced by a brown rodent with big cheeks.
"Oh my god, it.. it reminded you of me?"
"Yes! Plus, it looks like your SKZOO? But HanQokka is cuter."
Your boyfriend opened one of his eyes and smiled.
"You know how to talk to me, that's kind of scary. Like, just hearing that makes me happy. Is it holding something?"
Your eyebrows furrowed as you focused on the plushy. Pushing your glasses upward, you leaned towards the little paws. Jisung smiled, observing how your eyebrows would form a little crease on your forehead every time you'd focus.
"I think it's a little... hazelnut?"
Placing it in front of your phone, you spread your fingers behind it, wiggling them to focus the camera on it. Once more, Jisung laughed at your action.
"Why are you laughing?"
You looked at him, completely clueless as you lowered the plush.
"God, you don't realize how cute you and your actions are, I love you so much-"
Your breath hitched as Jisung's words reached your brain. Did he just...
"I did not-"
Jisung placed a hand over his mouth, suddenly awake. A long whine left his mouth as he buried his head into his pillow.
"Oh my God, somebody kill me please. I did NOT say 'I love you' for the first time through the phone, while I'm on another continent?!"
Heat painted your cheeks as you kept your eyes on your phone, your lips pressed into a thin line. Han Jisung loved you. Even if it wasn't planned...
"I... I can pretend I didn't hear it. And we can talk about it when you come back-"
"No! No, no."
Shaking his hand, Jisung took his phone and positioned it so his whole face could be seen.
"I don't pretend when it comes to you. God, Y/n, I didn't mean to say it like that, but I wanted to say it. I wanted you to know."
You blinked a few times, trying to calm your heartbeat. Clutching your hands on the little squirrel, you looked at your boyfriend. Even if it was just through a phone, everything felt so real. As if he were in the same room as you at the moment.
"...Really?"
"Yes. I... I love you."
And that was all that mattered. You wished you could hold his hand, cup his cheeks... But that would come. Later.
"I love you too, Jisung. No matter if we're in the same room or if you're thousands of miles away. My love won't change."
Jisung smiled widely, his cheeks pink against his pillow.
"Can you say it one more time?"
"As many as you want me to. But hey."
You pointed at your camera. Jisung looked at you, froze as if he stopped breathing, but he relaxed when he saw your smile.
"...yes?"
"Only if you say it back each time."

Even if your boyfriend was stuck at Bronze for probably the past fifteen years, there was something he was really good at. Felix was well-known for his sixty-three medals in Taekwondo.
Clutching nervously in the strap of your sport bag, you flinched a bit as the front door of the gymnasium opened. Dozens of children were running out, eager to meet their parents. A soft chuckle left your lips. They were in the shoes Felix has probably been one day. You could picture a little boy with freckles all over his face right now, hiding under a tiny colorful umbrella.
"Excuse me? Can I help you?"
You flinched again as a voice reached your ears. A man, all in white was standing through the door. Barefoot, he had a red belt with two little black bars. Besides this, the second thing who caught your eyes was his serious - almost scary - gaze.
"Come inside, it's starting to rain."
Before you could say anything, the man walked inside. The room was filled with pictures, medals and trophies,
"Hello, I... I'm waiting for..."
"Saseong*-nim! She's with me. She's the person I told you about. [*term used when referring to those who hold a 7th–9th dan, which are considered Grandmasters]
Your eyes flicked towards the well-known voice. Here he was. Since his blond hair was tied in a bun, only a few strands were coming on his forehead. As Felix and the man were talking, you took time to observe your boyfriend.
You knew he was one of the highest "rank" in his category. Taekwondo was a sport he did his whole life, you had seen pictures of him and medals. But seeing him in real life, all grown up while wearing his dobok*? It was making your chest buzz. Felix was showing you a part of his past, something purely personal. He was making you a part of it too. It wasn't the first time this type of things happen, but each time, it made you feel closer to him. [*uniform with a belt tied around the waist]
"Y/n..?"
A hand reaching for your shoulder made you flinch. While thinking about him, you didn't notice the man had left and that Felix was now looking at you.
"Sorry. What were you saying?"
He chuckled, reaching for your hand.
"Come. I can't wait for you to try it. Do you know I was so happy when you said yes?"
You swallowed, your hand tightening around his. Several weeks ago, Felix told you he would go back to his former Taekwondo club to pay a visit to his former trainer. He asked you if you wanted to come with him - you'd never refuse to spend time with your boyfriend - but it quickly changed into you coming to try taekwondo. That's how you found yourself sitting on the padded ground, fidgeting with the fabric of your leggings.
"Baby! I found a dobok that should fit you. You want to try it?"
Looking up, your boyfriend was holding a pile of white clothes, same as his.
"..Why not? Do I need to remove my shirt or something? Or maybe I should keep it... I don't want to stain or wreck someone's clothes.."
"Since it's just a try you can keep them. Plus, if those ones are in the store room, that means they're free to use. But we can still wash them and I'll bring them back later."
Nodding, you took the top part. Your fingers brushed against the fabric, like to study it. On the other side, you were praying that Felix don't notice how nervous you were.
"Let me.."
You froze, raising your arms to let Felix fix the belt around your waist. His hands were fast, sure, results of years of practice.
"I..."
"You know-"
You looked up at him, surprised. Felix chuckled, realizing you both had spoken at the same time.
"Go on", you whispered with a little smile.
"It makes me really happy, you know. Not only the fact that you come to see me, but more that you... try to discover my world. It just proves me one more time how important you are to me. I.."
Hearing the hesitation in his voice, you looked up. Felix was looking down at you, his lips pressed into a thin line. His freckles-covered cheeks took a pink tint before he laughed, trying to shake the embarrassment off.
"Thank you."
"Thank you for letting me in."
The sentence left your mouth before you could even register it. It was often like this when you were with Felix. A smile painted his lips, and as he cupped your face, he pressed his lips on your forehead. Then, Felix pulled back and looked at you, a big smile on his face.
"Should we?"
"Yah, how.. I don't know.. who do you.. think I was. I'm.. I'm not that strong or.. whatever."
Felix bursted into laughter as you lied on the padded floor, trying to catch your breathe.
For the past forty minutes, he had been trying to make you try a following of moves, all harder than the previous one. What do you mean, you needed to lift your feet higher than your head?
Unbuckling the head piece, you placed it next to you and wiped your forehead. Next to you, Felix was stretching his legs. You swore, he was getting in positions you didn't know were existent.
"You did good, Y/n. For a first try ever, it was really good."
"Flattering me won't make me hate you less when I'll woke up all sore and tired tomorrow."
A laugh bursted into the room as he scooted himself closer, sitting next to you.
"It's not flattery, I mean it."
"Hm, sure. Pretty sure you mean it."
Closing your eyes, you exhaled as the tingle inside your members calmed down. A muffled sound of a hand against the padded flour reached your ears. As you opened your eyes, Felix was looking down at you, his cheeks pink. His voice rang, an unsure whisper, shaking a bit.
"Something I really mean is the fact I.. really like it when you try my interests. I.. I'd love to see your world too."
Your breath hitched as his fingers reached for your hair, pushing them out of your forehead. Once again, words flew out of your mouth before you could stop them.
"I'd love you to be in my world."
"And I love you."
Felix whispered again. But this time, his word and voice were sure. Serious. Strong.
Just like the love he felt for you.
"You..."
He nodded as you sat up, like to hear him better.
"I do."
Reaching for his hand, you parted your lips and exhaled. This time, you controlled every words that came out.
"I love you too."

"Good night, Lovebirds! Make sure to be discreet if you have sex!"
"Yah!"
You turned towards the door, your face all red. Did one of the guys really say that? But before you could even understand whose voice it was, Seungmin had closed the door behind him.
Today was Seungmin's birthday. Well. Yesterday had been Seungmin's birthday, since it was already way past midnight. You were supposed to spend the evening and night at Seungmin's and Felix's dorm, but all Stray Kids' members had decided to crash at their place as a surprise.
And a two-person apartment wasn't really the largest place in terms of accommodating seven people. You thought of asking Seungmin to sleep on the couch - you never slept with him before - but now that Jisung and Hyunjin were taking the space, there was no other choice.
It was now time to sleep - a few members had not waited to fall asleep in a pile of limbs, heads, and snores. As you searched through your bag to take your pyjama, you prayed that Seungmin was not looking at you. If he did, he'd see how flustered you were right now, but you never addressed the topic of... physical interaction or more.
Seungmin and you had been a couple for a few months now, but you two were... taking your time.
Really taking your time since you both never said 'I love you' or had sex. Or just slept in the same bed. So, every time someone else mentioned it, it would establish an awkwardness.
"Um."
Seungmin cleared his throat, still standing at the door. He was rubbing his hand on the back of his neck, looking away. If you didn't know him, you would not have noticed how flushed his neck and ears were.
"I.. have my pyjama here. Do you think I can change in the bathroom, or is the light going to wake them up?" You whispered, as if the sleepers were in the room.
"No, you can go. Or I can and you can change here."
You shook your head, still focused on the color of his ears. Your cheeks were probably the same tint. Or worse.
"I need to use the bathroom anyway."
When you came back a few minutes later, Seungmin was already lying in his bed, propped on his elbows, focused on his phone. Putting your clothes inside your bag, you glanced at him. His brown hair was falling in front of his eyes, hiding a part of his face.
Then he looked up. Without a word, the soft song from his phone filled the silence of the room. He kept his eyes on yours, breathing softly but not moving.
"Are you staying on the floor?"
You blinked, then closed your bag. Next to it, you plugged your phone in for the night.
"...No."
Tugging on your t-shirt, you pulled it down so it covered your thighs. As if you weren't already wearing shorts. It wasn't the first time Seungmin saw you in pyjamas, but it was still not the usual for you. Softly, you sat on the edge of the bed. You always knew Seungmin was a neat and organized person, but seeing it firsthand was even better. How the walls of his room were covered in baseball posters, books, and albums from his favorite singers. Under your hands, the blanket was soft and smelled like clean laundry.
"You know you can lie down, right? Or maybe you prefer to sleep while sitting. I don't know."
Rolling your eyes, you lifted the blanket and slid into his bed. For a few seconds, you stared at the ceiling, not daring to move. As if you decided to breathe, the world would explode or something. A chuckle caught your attention.
Seungmin had put his phone away and was looking at you, his head resting against his fist.
"You look comfortable here."
He teased, a little smirk on his face. The temperature of your cheeks increased as you stuttered.
"It's... I mean, it's the first time we... sleep together.. Well, not together but in the same bed. Or is it the same thing? I wasn't... I don't know."
"Hm. You'd prefer to be in two separate beds?"
"No."
The word came quick, almost instantly. Your boyfriend's eyes widen at the same time as yours. A soft blush painted his cheeks as he sighed, lying on his side.
"Don't overthink it. It's like... sharing a space. Being in the same room. Except we're sleeping.
You nodded as Seungmin turned the light off and sighed, closing his eyes. In a whisper, he wished you a good night and turned around. Quickly, the apartment fell silent; everyone was asleep. The only sound you could hear was your boyfriend's breath and your heartbeat, going too fast. Something you ignored - Seungmin's one was beating at the same pace.
Light from the poorly covered window woke you up a few hours later, the sun heating your skin. You squirmed, nuzzling your head into the pillow.
Even if the night had been short, you weren't feeling tired. The bed was comfortable, the pillow firm, and the cover just heavy enough as it needed to be.
Keeping your eyes closed, you softly exhaled. The day could wait a bit more before starting, right? That's when a finger pushed hair out of your forehead. The movement was slow, soft, barely touching you, but seemed real.
It was.
Seungmin had woken up a few minutes before, and instead of starting his day by checking for your texts like usual, he had been observing you, studying your face. For once, you were next to him, of COURSE he'd use that opportunity. But not in a creepy way - he'd never do that - but more in an admiring, loving, and caring manner.
He couldn't stop himself from pushing that little strand of hair that was covering your face and smiling as you sighed - as he thought - in your sleep.
"God... Y/n. I love you."
You softly opened your eyes, sleep leaving your brain. Looking up, you met Seungmin's eyes and smiled at the vision you had. His messy hair, his wrinkled t-shirt, and his sleepy face? You could get used to it. You'd love to.
"I heard that."
You whispered, not daring to move. You felt his body tensing under your arm, his eyes fixated on yours. Then, he shrugged and lied down.
"Good. Now you know."
"I love you Seungmin."
Seungmin's heart jumped at the whispered words. As you nuzzled against him as if it was the most natural thing to do, he nodded and exhaled.
"...I was hoping you'd hear me."
"I did."
"And I also heard Changbin hyung's laugh. Prepare yourself to have someone bursting in."
A chuckle left your lips as Seungmin whispered. Perhaps you could pretend to be asleep as long as possible. Perhaps you could stretch this moment until it was time to go to sleep again. Who cared? You were together and in love.

You had received Felix's texts as you were lying under the blanket, between a book and a two-hour-long playlist. Today was the beginning of your five-day vacation, but something felt off when you woke up this morning. And you quickly found what.
[Y/nie, sorry to disturb you on your day off, but Innie needs you] [We were at the gym, and he sprained his ankle on a dumbbell.] [Nothing bad, we went to the doctor and he just needs a few days off.] [Can you drive him home? Chan Hyung is in Italy for a Fendy event.]
You closed the door of your car, pushing your hair out of your forehead. You had quickly tied it in a bun, but it looks messy, almost disheveled. Who cared? Your boyfriend needed you.
Covered with caps and hoods, three men were walking out of the big building, the two on the side holding the one in the middle, each of his arms around their shoulders. He was limping, barely able to put his left foot on the ground.
"Oh God. Jeongin.."
As you ran towards them, your boyfriend raised his head. As soon as his eyes fell on you, he smiled, surprised all over his face. Felix may have kept your arrival a secret. He smiled, but you knew him enough to read the pain he was feeling behind his expression.
"God, how... Jeongin, can you explain how the fuck you manage to stumble over dumbbells?"
"H-how... Felix Hyung, you told her?! I told you not to, I knew she'd be worried!"
Your heart clenched for a second. He wanted to hide it from you? Changbin rolled his eyes and pinched Jeongin's arm.
"Ouch!"
"Yah, Yang Jeongin! Stop complaining and walk to her car. She's the one driving you home; there's no way you'll take the bus with us."
"I can drive you home too, Oppa."
"Drive safe, Y/nie, tell us when you're home."
"I will, Oppa. See you later."
You rolled the window closed and sighed, driving off the hallway of Changbin's and Hyunjin's dorm building. Jeongin had been silent since his Hyungs had helped him sit down in your car.
"..."
"Y/n..."
"Yeah?" you answered softly.
"Are you mad at me?"
You quickly glanced at him before looking back at the road. Jeongin was biting nervously on his lower lip.
"No, I.. I got scared. I understand you didn't want me to worry. But let me warn you, Jeongin. I care about you. A lot. So, of course, I'll worry about you."
You moved your hand and cupped his, bringing it to the gearshift.
"But we're okay. Don't even think we aren't. Okay?"
Jeongin nodded, his shoulders visibly relaxing. A sigh left his lips as he looked at you, silently... 'thanking' you? Apologizing? You couldn't tell.
"Put your arm around my shoulders, Innie. I can help you."
"You... Are you sure?"
Before you could even nod, you clenched your jaw as his weight fell on you. Going to the gym was great, even got sexy results, but God, this many muscles were heavy.
"Okay. Lean on the wall, I'll.. I'll open the door."
You whispered, out of breath. As you typed the code on the digital padlock, you couldn't stop yourself from noticing that Jeongin was moving his ankle - or at least trying - furrowing his eyebrows.
"Is it painful?"
You asked as you slid your arm around his waist.
"A bit. It's cooling down, so it's a bit sore now."
"We're almost there. I'll help you take off your shoes, and we'll sit down in your bedroom."
Easier to tell than to do... It took ten minutes to remove his shoes, help him not fall three times, hold him while he washed his hands, and finally, he could sit down. What was taking three seconds on a normal day was way longer tonight. And Jeongin had noticed how tired you looked.
Your hair fell in front of your eyes, but you did not care enough to arrange it, the color of fatigue under your eyes, and how quickly your smile faded when it came.
He and you had decided it was easier for both of you if you stayed here for the night. After eating, borrowing his clothes, and going to the bathroom, you sat down on his bed. You had seen how just another weight on the bed would move his ankle and cause pain, so you decided to let him have the entire bed. Next to it, a mattress was inflating, filling the room with a soft purr.
"I'll be just here. You wake me every time you need something, okay? I don't want to see you jump on one foot to try to get something you could have asked me."
Jeongin looked away, exhaling. Or maybe sighing. In either case, it wasn't after you. Frustration was bubbling in his chest, mixed with a feeling of guilt and worry.
You pressed your lips into a thin line, not knowing what to add.
"I'll grab a blanket."
As you stood up, Jeongin wrapped his fingers around your wrist. He softly tugged on it, silently asking you to sit back down.
"I'm sorry I ask so much."
His voice rose in the room, a whisper so low that it was almost covered by the sound of the mattress. Your eyebrows furrowed as you turned to face him.
"Innie..."
"I'm sorry. I didn't pay attention when I was at the gym, and this stupid dumbbell was there... the ice pack you put helps a lot. I.. I just wish it would heal quicker so I'm able to do all of this myself, and not ask for your help all the time."
"Hey."
Jeongin looked up as you cupped his cheeks. When his eyes met yours, he froze, not expecting to see how caring and soft your gaze was on him.
"You're not annoying me. Not at all. I love taking care of you; it means I get to spend time with you. I love it."
With your thumb, you stroked his cheek, as if you were trying to soothe the pain away. No matter if it was a physical or a mental one, you wanted to help him.
"I initially came because I was worried, but it also helps me to see how you're doing. And for once, you don't underestimate your pain. I get to see it, be here, and help you with it."
A bitter chuckle left your lips as Jeongin blinked, almost dumbfounded.
"Of course, I'd prefer you to be okay. But only because I care about you. Who'd like to see the people they... deeply care about being wounded or hurt?"
Or people they love. You almost said it this time.
"Y/n..."
Jeongin whispered, nuzzling into your touch. His cheeks took a deep red tint as he looked down.
"Thank you."
You leaned forward and softly pressed your lips against his forehead.
"And I don't care if I was on my week off. I mean, I get to spend as much time as I want with you?"
Jeongin leaned towards you, his arms resting around your waist. A sigh left his lips as he closed his eyes.
"I love you."
Your breath hitched as Jeongin looked up, his chin resting on your chest.
"I love you Y/n. So much." He whispered.
"You..."
"Yeah. I'm a bit sorry it's in these conditions, but I fully mean it. I'm so in love with you it's not funny anymore."
A chuckle left your lips as you stroked his cheeks once again. Leaning forward, you pressed your lips against his forehead, then his nose, and finally his lips.
"Guess what?"
You whispered, your mouth an inch away from his. Jeongin looked up, his breath mingling with yours.
"Hm?"
"I'm in love with you too."
That night, despite the pain, Jeongin probably had the best night of his life. You probably did too. Even if you were sleeping on two different mattresses, you never felt closer to each other.
Your hand was clutched on his, as his arm was hanging out of the edge of the bed. Even if he woke up with a soreness in his forearm, it felt worth every second of that night.
