Slytherin: Does it matter?

So there’s that scene in Shadow of Night when Matthew and Diana are talking about vampire tropes in popular fiction and how smutty they can be. And then Matthew is absolutely clueless. He has absolutely no idea about how vampires are represented in fiction. He seemingly doesn’t even know that vampire romance fiction is a thing. But then when he is introducing himself to Chris’ team in The Book of Life, he makes a direct reference to Twilight. 

Marcus: So, he just stays in high school, like, forever?

Matthew: Apparently.

Gallowglass: No thanks!

Marcus: So, is he just having sex with teenagers cos he’s old, like he’s an old bloke!

Matthew: Get this, he’s celibate as a monk, virgin before being reborn into the bargain.

Marcus: He’s a 100 year old virgin?

Matthew: Yep

Gallowglass: At that point, I’d just self-decapitate

Marcus: Wait, you’re telling us that women actually like this moody vamp stuff. Baldwin, have you heard about this?

Baldwin: Who’s known that the broody, stern and taciturn creature of the night thing has worked since Polidori:
