The Amazon and the Pilot

Wonder Woman: Black and Gold #3 served me what is, quite possibly, the best-written and most in-character portrayal of Wondertrev in the comics in a long time, and I’m so ridiculously happy about these 5 pages.

There are so many little details here that tell so much about their relationship in so little words. And they are all the things that I have talked about at length before. The way Diana takes a chance on Steve despite her mother’s misgivings, the way she opens her heart to an outsider and he not only receives it, but treasures it (his curiosity about her and his listening to her being framed as a love language is absolutely brilliant). The way even when the world is hellbent on misunderstanding her, Steve will always be in her corner. The way he shows her his world, just as she showed him hers. And though their relationship isn’t without its conflicts, they overcome it because they choose “love over fear”. By loving each other as equals in every way, they find their own piece of paradise, together.

BONUS:

I adore Kristen so much. She made the shoots so delightful for me just because she was there. She became a very close friend of mine. We would laugh and sing and dance and do silly things on-set. Then when the roll starts we go into in-character mode and we do the fight and go all the way and then they say, “cut!” Then we’re like, “oh my god, are you okay? Did I hurt you? Did I pull your hair? I’m so sorry.”
