I gave each actual libertarian a matching straw counterpart. It’s pretty sweet.

From a social media perspective, I think the Kony 2012 campaign is brilliant. From a filmmaking perspective, the viral video is absolutely extraordinary. But while many are celebrating its success and joining the movement, opposition is also gaining momentum. Despite valid criticisms, I think the campaign is still a worthwhile cause, because it has no doubt shed light on a situation many were unfamiliar with. While Invisible Children’s tactics might be questionable, I remain hopeful that the increased awareness can lead to appropriate action by the international political arena, rather than merely the people behind the campaign gaining power and money. Embrace this incredible moment in human rights activism, but read up and educate yourself on both sides of the story, and make a decision for yourself.
