Bully!Sukuna β Six months later
Cw: angst, unresolved feelings, jealousy/toxic behavior, parties with gojo, separation, bully romance π β§βΛ β
Itβs been six months since you graduated from college.
Youβve used up most of your savings moving away from your hometown and starting over in a completely new city. You managed to land a big-girl job at a corporate company, but ever since graduating, it feels like life has been slowly squeezing the youth out of you.
You thought moving to the city would feel freeing.
Instead, adulthood hits you harder than you ever expected.
Eight hours of nonstop work every day, followed by two hours of commuting back and forth to your shitty little apartment. By the time you get home, all you want to do is shower, eat something, and collapse into bed.
To think that you used to dream about moving away and starting a new life in the big city.
Now that youβre finally here, your life is miserable.
You barely have enough money left after rent, groceries, transportation, and bills. Your tiny 600-square-foot apartment is hardly the glamorous new life you imagined for yourself. You donβt have any friends to hang out with on the weekends either.
Itβs just work.
Then home.
Then work again.
Life has become painfully dull.
And yet, despite everything, you still think about him sometimes.
Sukuna.
You wonder what heβs doing now.
Whether he ever thinks about you.
Whether he ever misses you.
You never reach out, of course.
Neither does he.
The last time you saw him was seven months ago, at your graduation farewell.
After that, he disappears from your life.
Or maybe you disappear from his.
Fast-forward to now, and youβre sitting on a train heading back to your hometown for a long-overdue family dinner. You havenβt seen your parents in a while, and you figured it would be nice to spend some time with them again.
Your mother especially has been complaining about how much she misses you.
Not that you were expecting to see anyone else.
But apparently, the universe has a sick sense of humor.
The moment you get seated at the famous local restaurant, you notice a familiar face walking through the entrance.
Your stomach drops.
Sukuna.
Gojo is walking beside him, and the two of them arenβt alone. Each has a girl accompanying them, and for some reason, you immediately notice the one beside Sukuna. Her arm is linked comfortably around his huge bicep, her body practically pressed against his side as she talks to him with a bright smile.
You stare at Sukuna from your seat.
Then his eyes land on you.
He freezes.
For the first time in months, Sukuna looks genuinely bewildered. His gaze travels over your face, lingering for a moment as though heβs trying to convince himself that youβre actually sitting there.
You look different.
There are subtle changes in your face that werenβt there before, youβre not the same girl he remembers. Your face looks slightly more tired now. Thereβs something different about youβsomething older, more mature.
Maybe the stress of living in the city has changed you.
But thatβs not important.
Because the moment you see the girl clinging to his arm, something ugly starts boiling inside your chest.
Anger. Jealousy. Resentment.
You expected this.
After seven months of no contact, of course he wouldβve found someone else. You have no right to be upset about it, especially when you were the one who left without saying anything and never bothered to contact him afterward.
Still, knowing that and seeing it right in front of you doesnβt make it hurt any less.
But fuck, can you even call her a replacement?
He never even made things clear between the two of you.
You never knew what you were.
So why the hell does seeing him with another woman make your chest hurt like this?
You immediately look away when you realise youβre staring for too long. You force yourself to focus on your parents, pretending that nothing happened. You nod along to whatever your mother is talking about, occasionally answering questions about your job and your apartment whenever they ask. You even manage a few smiles, doing everything you can to appear perfectly normal.
Meanwhile, Sukuna wants nothing more than to walk over to you.
He wants to ask how youβve been. He wants to hear your voice again, even if all you do is tell him to fuck off. He wants to know why you disappeared, why you never called, and whether youβve thought about him even half as much as heβs thought about you.
Because he did miss you.
More than he would ever admit.
After you disappeared from Sukunaβs life, he tried desperately to keep himself occupied. He filled his time with friends, rave parties every weekend with Gojo, alcohol and girlsβanything that could temporarily fill the void youβd left behind. He convinced himself that it didnβt matter and that you were nothing more than a temporary obsession.
He never reached out because he convinced himself that you were deliberately avoiding him.
And you were.
Sukuna had tried checking your social media more times than he would ever admit. Not that there was much to see. You were never the type to post frequently, and whenever he checked your accounts, there was rarely anything newβan occasional picture, a random repost, maybe a story that disappeared before he could even bring himself to interact with it.Β
Eventually, he convinced himself that your silence meant you were simply too busy living your new life to bother updating everyone about it. He imagined you going out with new friends, exploring the city, enjoying your independence and finally getting everything you had wanted after leaving college behind.Β
Maybe you were happier without him. Maybe you were so busy that you didnβt even have time to think about the past. But now, seeing you sitting across the restaurant, Sukuna realises just how wrong he had been.Β
The tiredness in your eyes, the way your shoulders seem heavier than he remembers and the faint exhaustion written across your face tell him that you arenβt living some carefree life without a single worry in the world.Β
If anything, you look like youβve been carrying far more than youβve ever let anyone see.
Before Sukuna can work up the courage to approach you, Gojo catches his attention and gestures toward their table. The girl beside Sukuna follows him, and he reluctantly goes along with them, but even after he sits down, his eyes keep drifting back toward you.
Throughout the entire meal, you pretend to care about whatever conversation your parents are having. You occasionally answer whenever they ask about your new life, forcing yourself to smile and act as though everything is perfectly fine.
You have to keep your composure and play it cool.
Sukuna, on the other hand, watches you the entire time. He watches you take small bites of food, watches you glance toward him once before immediately looking away.
He canβt help wondering why you didnβt say anything when you saw him.
Why didnβt you call his name?
Why didnβt you even look at him again?
Then another thought creeps into his mind.
Does she have someone else?
Maybe thatβs why you never contacted him.
Maybe youβve already moved on.
Maybe youβve found another boyfriend.
Maybe youβre living with him or you go home to him every night.
The thought makes Sukunaβs jaw tighten.
The idea of you coming home to another man, laughing with him, sleeping beside him, living a life that doesnβt include Sukuna makes his stomach twist.
He loses his appetite entirely.
Then, without warning, the girl beside him reaches up, grabs his face, and presses a kiss against his lips.
Your eyes immediately snap toward them.
Your heart sinks.
For a second, you swear you can actually hear something inside your chest shatter.
You know thatβs impossible but thatβs exactly what it feels like.
You immediately drop your fork, the sharp metallic clang echoing against your almost-finished plate and drawing the attention of several nearby customers who turn their heads toward you. The sudden sound makes the girl beside Sukuna pull away from the kiss.
βExcuse me.β
You barely manage to get the words out before pushing your chair back and rushing toward the bathroom, keeping your head down so your parents wonβt notice the tears forming in your eyes.
You shut the door behind you, hurry toward the nearest mirror, and stare at your pathetic reflection while turning on the tap.
Your eyes are already wet with tears.
You hate yourself for crying.
You hate him for making you cry.
And most of allβ
You hate that you still care.
Why the fuck did they have to kiss in front of you?
