I think it’s genuinely time to talk about the racism and underlying white supremacy that exists in this fandom, because this is getting disgusting.
Sending slurs and harassing people in their inboxes over a celebrity rumor or relationship discourse is insane behavior. For what? What about the idea of a white man potentially liking Black women makes some of you so angry that you immediately resort to racism and abuse?
You do not know these people. You don’t know their lives, their character, or even what they truly look like outside of social media. Yet the second you realize someone is Black, some of you feel comfortable attacking them, insulting them, and dehumanizing them anonymously. That is deeply disturbing.
And hiding behind fandom culture doesn’t make it less racist. It is racist. It’s ugly, pathetic behavior, and there is genuinely something wrong with you if you think sending slurs and hateful messages to strangers online is acceptable.
People are allowed to exist online without being targeted because of their race. If your reaction to discourse is to become racist and abusive, then you need to seriously step back and reevaluate yourself instead of taking that hatred out on strangers.
It’s gross. It’s cruel. And honestly, some of you should not be online acting this way at all.
