Sea water: good for curse/hex breaking, cleansing, healing, banishing and protection spells.

Dew water: beauty, love and fertility spells, as well as delicate magick. Also Good for Fae work.

Storm water: is great for spells and rituals that has to do with emotional strength, confidence, charge, motivation and force. It’s known for strengthening spells. Also good for curses.

Snow water: Spells and rituals that focus on purity, endings and change, as well as slow working spells.

River water: Good for creating changes, moving on and letting go of negativity, warding and focusing energy.

Rain water: Very multi-purpose, but specifically great for growth and rebirth spells. Great for spells that you want to keep gaining power over time.

Spring water: Growth, holy water, cleansing, protection, prosperity

Moon water: Depending on the moon phase it was created in, it can have different properties.

Sun Water: protection, healing, clairvoyance, courage, strength, prosperity, luck, self-love, cleansing and creativity.

Swamp Water: Used for banishing and binding.

The version of the wheel of the year we see today was popularised by Wicca which was founded by Gerald Gardener. Who was an English man. Ireland was very badly oppressed by English colonialism. The British slaughtered a lot of Irish people while they were being overtaken. And they are also the reason so many people starved in the famine. The British are also the reason Ireland converted to christianity instead of paganism.

This wheel is a jumbled up mess of a variety of European holidays all merged into one and labelled “Wicca”. This is appropriation as its unacknowledged where all these came from.

Not all European countries are the same and these colonial countries are not entitled to claiming the traditions they colonised.

In Ireland May Day/Bealtaine was still celebrated in certain counties until the last century. But people are still misusing it and mispronouncing it. Pronouncing Samhain “Sam hain” instead of “sow wen”, unaware that it is the Irish word for November. And that Bealtaine is the word for May. In a language still used.

English colonialism is the reason we starved The reason we stopped speaking our language as widely. And a religion popularised by an English man is now using our words without directly crediting the cultures.

And now its further reinforced by the way that people are taking these words out of context. Mixing them up with other European words. Without giving credit to any of the countries they came from.

Its like how people will take chakras from hinduism and sage from native americans and throw some jesus in and just call it “new age spirituality”

(Native people have it even worse than the situation with Irish culture. Native Americans are going through so much shit. Cause people use spirituality as an excuse to just take shit)

You can’t use things without acknowledging the fact that they are from specific cultures.

This is a more Irish accurate wheel of the years. Please acknowledge the cultures you got these words from.

“I Had To Be Around Toxic People For Way Too Long” energy cleansing scrub. (Also titled: “Fuck My Abuser” or just “Energy Reset Body Scrub”)

So. I literally had to be around so many toxic people from my hometown this weekend. Including my mother, who literally hugged me during the communion portion of the ceremony and ran crying out of the reception just because I said “not right now” to her giving me a hug and saying hi. 

A lot of my energy shut down as a result. (I can’t really communicate with/sense my spirit companions if that gives you any indication of how badly my energy was injured by all the negative energy and toxicity that came my way.)

BEHOLD. ENERGY RESET SCRUB

I added a lot of ingredients that I associate with cleansing and healing/protection. Modify as needed. 

Ingredients:

Sea salt

Epsom salt

Baking soda

Wormwood powder (this is intense, do not use if pregnant or trying to become pregnant. Lots of alternatives to this.)

Angelica root (one of my fave protection herbs)

Sage

Activated charcoal (this costs like $8 at Walmart. It comes in capsules that are really easy to open. Also, it’s really good for your skin. Please do not use random ass charcoal from your fire pit or the grilling aisle.)

Coconut oil (or any other carrying oil of your choice)

Lemon essential oil (or just plain lemon juice. I happened to have an essential oil on hand that was a blend of lemon, lemongrass, and eucalyptus.)

Mix all of this together. Charge it up however you prefer to charge items. Take a nice hot shower and rub this mix all over your body. (I even put some on my head lol.) As you scrub, think of what you’re cleansing away, what you want to draw out of you and get rid of. Rinse off, and then was your body/hair as you normally would. 

Take a length of twine and make small simple knots around nine fingers, I avoided the ring finger because in my case it’s already bound. Alternatively for more oomph you could knot around each of your ankles, then your wrists, your big toes, your thumbs, and your head. Each time slip the knot off before tightening it completely around “nothing”. In the end you should have a length of twine with nine knots. (Do not lose this twine, it is a magical representation of you until you finish the spell and give it it’s purpose.) Take the twine with nine knots and recite this while one by one untying the knots: You have had me bound, Knotted up, but no longer Your fetters I have found My will has grown stronger I undo by nine,     and bind your spell to this twine I unfasten by eight,     I turn back your hate I unwind by seven,     this weight gone my spirits leaven I untwist by six,      I am on to your tricks I unbind by five,      your magic shall not thrive I unmake by four,      your craft harms me no more I unravel by three,      your curse turned back to thee I unknot by two,      your spell is through I untie by one,      your work is undone - Take the unknotted twine and burn it.

This spell is a type of Uncrossing, a witch’s way to undo bad luck or stagnation building up in their life. Unlike a spell for luck or new beginnings, this is best to use if you feel certain that there is a spiritual, magical, or emotional node latching itself onto you. For this reason, this spell is likely just the thing for someone who feels as though one bad things after another keeps occurring, or if you’ve suffered a loss and are struggling to let go. This spell can be adapted to a luck spell by adding clovers to the Moon Water; it can also be adapted to break curses by adding incense ash and sea salt.

Preparation - Moon Water:

At the full moon, take a jar of clear water and place it on a windowsill, outside, or on an altar. Place a clear quartz crystal on both sides of the jar. Dependent upon the witch, you may wish to say a blessing or a spell, or perform an action as simple as humming or playing ocean waves. Allow the water to sit through the night in a dark or dimly lit area. Before day break, remove the jar from its location and store in a dark container (such as box) until you are ready to use it.

Substitutions for the college witch - Leave on a windowsill instead of outside. Rather than collect at day break, place a piece of paper underneath the jar that says “until sunrise” (or draw a picture of the sun rising). Replace crystals with a ring of salt or something reflective, like glass or a mirror. 

The Spell - Uncrossing

At dusk, travel to a train track or a crossroads. Allow your mind to focus on the events that you wish to erase, the energy that you wish to expel. Cross your arms. Begin to walk counter-clockwise, dragging your feet against the ground so that a circle forms (if you are on gravel, you won’t see the circle, but complete the motion nonetheless). Complete the circle three times. On your third completion, uncross your arms. Fall to the ground. Pour a generous portion of moon water in front of you, raising to your feet as you do so.

Before driving or walking home, take a moment to ground yourself by drinking water, checking your phone, etc. Uncrossing can be mentally taxing, so take care to be centered before going about your day.
