you’re good enough. good enough for me, good enough to be loved, and good enough for the life you’ve always dreamed of living.

choosing to be vulnerable in the pursuit of love is brave. opening yourself up to love and asking for the same love in return is brave. and the fact that they couldn’t measure up to your level of affection doesn’t diminish that bravery. and it doesn’t diminish the value or the beauty of your love. it just leaves you free to find someone who will love you the way you deserve.

I choose to trust. I choose to believe. No matter what reasons I may have to be skeptical, anxious, and insecure, no matter how very valid those reasons are… I still choose to trust. In love. In friendship. In success. In luck and in hope. In a better future for me, surrounded by those I love. I choose my own future. I won’t let anxiety and trauma choose it for me.

we will build a home, you and me. it will be filled with warmth. it will be filled with love. and it will be filled with safety. it will not be filled with the sounds of crashing plates or angry steps. my hands are safe with yours, and yours are safe with mine. where passive aggressiveness or cold wars could've lied, it is open and healthy communication if we ever fight. it is true, we have put the fear of turning into our parents to sleep.

i made mistakes. i sat with them. i hated them and hated me. i sat with them. i sat with myself. i started to forgive myself, because i reassured myself, “you won’t do this again. you never wanted to the first time. you will learn from this.” i sat with myself some more. “you are not unforgivable.”

some things in life are just difficult and unfair and impossible and heartbreaking. we may never get over some things. we may never forgive some people. we may never find closure in some situations. and that’s okay. we will keep living despite all these things.

love is not meant to hurt. you shouldn’t have to be holding on, making excuses for them, saying it will all be worth it when things even out. you deserve a love that is good to you.

my heart aches for the people i miss when i think of happy memories

you are loved. on quiet days that feel meaningless, during long nights when loneliness consumes you, when you’re reminiscing and grieving the past, on good days that feel like warmth and light, always remember that you are loved. 

When the snarling wind comes to bear you down, you must look it in the eye. Stare too long at its teeth and you will bow, gentle-meek, to the winter there; but look and you will find a silver pond. you will see your shivering, and something trembling under the ice. it too, is afraid of the change that spring will work. it too, is a soft thing, brown fur bristled against the cold. Will yourself not to freeze. Speak low– remind it of the seeds it carries and the kiss of summertime breeze. ask who it would rather be. offer the choice. before the winter ends, offer yourself the same.
