Re-blogging my own post because I can :)
This is a lot, but how good am I going to feel when I know all of them :).
i was born to a line of witches, clairvoyants, and i really want to practice voodoo/hoodoo/Santeria, but im white. i feel like i cant or im not allowed to. i think about it all the time, im drawn to it, i love it. i dont know what to do.
It’s wonderful that you are descended from a lineage of witches and clairvoyants! I think anyone can hone those skills, but it’s also a blessing to have it in your family line. However, that really has nothing to do with closed cultures and the topic you’re asking about…
Woah let’s slow down there with those hyphens. Voodoo =/= hoodoo =/= Santería. Those are two religions and a magic tradition that are all pretty different from each other so those are some diverse interests you’ve got there! Of course, what all three have in common is that they are Africana traditions, meaning that they are derived from African religions.
I made a whole masterpost of explanation on why IMO hoodoo is 100% closed to nonblack people and it includes some good tidbits in there also about Santería and Voodoo as semi-closed, initiatory-only religions. So I will respectfully please ask you to take a look at the network of posts and discussions written by people of African descent which are featured in there.
I also want to take a moment to ask why you are so drawn to these closed and semi-closed ancestral African religions and practices? There are so many deities from open religions who are absolutely incredible and just as worthy of your affection and interest! Unlike most African deities, these ones are also all 100% okay for you to worship and interact with. Some of them may even be related to your ancestral traditions as a white person (depending on your cultural heritage and background).
I don’t know about you, but I think she’s beauty, she’s grace, Artemis would shoot you in the face - what an amazing goddess right here!
How can you not get chills when you see this badass mofo Thor?! [x]
Or what about the one African religion that is actually a 100% open religion? Kemeticism has some seriously dope deities, like powerful Anubis over here: [x]
Can you really resist the allure and mystique of the all-seeing Norns?? [x]
Okay maybe my captions were over the top lol deities really really aren’t just aesthetics or cool looks to shop around for based on who you like the most. But that’s also true for African deities and ATRs (African traditional religions)!! It’s not appropriate to look at Santería or Voodoo like a hot trend or get really into it just because you like it when it’s not your culture or heritage.
The Norse, Celtic, Gaelic, Hellenic, and Kemetic religions are all open. Anyone can practice them or work with deities from their pantheons and it’s completely okay. This isn’t true for ATRs and it’s not true for hoodoo.
My real point here is that not only can anyone worship deities from those open religions, but their deities are also awesome af!!! They are exciting and mysterious and interesting too. They deserve to be loved and worshipped as much as any other deities and they can be without it being appropriative.
If you are white, you have so many options of religious paths to explore. There is literally no need at all to try to practice any of the ATRs. There isn’t a need to practice hoodoo either - you have other American folk magic practices and you also have witchcraft, chaos magick, and many many more magic traditions.
So what you can do is please check out the masterpost I linked above, read some of what us black practitioners have said about why we don’t feel comfortable with white people practicing our traditions and religions. It would genuinely be really appreciated if you did and considered some of these open religions to take as your path instead.
This is an amazing post.
Do you or any of your followers know the significance of cutting off your hair in dreams? This happens to me a lot
Anyone know?
If we go off US Hollywood rules, and OP is a woman, then she must be going through an emotional change to become a strong, independent, badass bitch 🤣
But in all seriousness I don't know.
Calling all knowledgeable witches!

Today’s intended program, Why Do Poltergeists Steal, has been canceled due to a poltergeist stealing our scripts and much of our equipment.
Instead, for the next fifteen minutes, we will be broadcasting the noise of thick pages turning in an old book.
The new episode of Welcome to Nightvale looks pretty good.
This is the money pentacle. Reblog and unexpected money will come to you!
Shiiiiit. I reblogged, and I got $750 in two days for basically nothing! The first day this client/POT asked my agent to invite some girls and I to his end. We basically sipped wine and left with $500 each. He called me yesterday and we took a ride on my highway and gave me $250😂😂😂. Money blogs everyday any day!
Won’t chance it.
Yo this shit works not even gonna front like I didn’t just get money
Let me reblog this 2x then 😂
Do the thing pls

GUESS WHAT MONTH IT IS, WITCHES AND BITCHES
I guess the cats out of the bag
All of you defending Luna get ready to get your minds blown. I’m the brother of @thelavenderstarwitch Luna is lying about her currently. Claiming she was calling Luna weak and all this other trash she’s spewing. Lavi never once said any of it. Luna has lied and bullied her and gotten you all to bully her. Who’s the real bully now? I am acting in defense of someone she is attacking. So really the idiots here are you all who willingly follow a toxic broken woman who’s bullying and hurting someone else and lying to get you to bully her too. Man, I feel like you guys should be really embarrassed right now.
Look man, I’m all for protecting the ones you love. But when you do it like this, you’re hurting the person you’re protecting as well.
When you went behind her back, you took away her power to make decisions and speak for herself, and that is incredibly unfair.
I get it, stuff went down, but taking control away from the person it’s about is not really the way to do it.
That’s my two cents.
Next time be less of a bitch and more of a real witch.
Did someone really just…. omg. I’m dying laughing. I think they made this blog just so they could post this lmao. They also submitted it to my inbox. Crazy shit. Literal proof that there’s someone out there trying to curse me.
Am I the only one who thinks that they were trying to rhyme Hearth and Earth?
most definitely 🤣
But...why this look like a bad MySpace wallpaper? 😂😂😂

im auditioning for cabaret (the musical) and need a good audition song… any suggestions? preferably something a bit off the wall
If you're up for it, do a song that's technically challenging/fun like "Tevya's Dream" from Fiddler on the Roof, or "Both Reached for the Gun" from Chicago. Or do something quirky like a song from Doctor Horribles, or The Devil's Carnival ("Prick! Goes the Scorpians Tail" is insane). Then again, I'm not in theater so don't take what I say as fact 🤔
Wondering how the word gypsy is a racial slur? Why are you referring to it as the G word when it literally means a free spirited traveller. What is so offensive about that?
Let me tell you a story, ignorant one.
Once upon a time, there were a group of people migrating from northern India and Pakistan after the invasion “of the Persian Muslims who have since settled in Trukey, all of Europe, and the Americas These people are called the Rromani.” (x)
Once the pale bird feces people of Europe came into contact with the Rromani, they believed them to hail from Egypt, thus calling them Gypsies.
Now about what disgusting white people like you have been trying to turn this racial slur into. There is nothing about being a free spirited traveller if you’re called such a word. What is up with white people romanticizing everything to make it seem all nice and rainbows for them?
“They were not nomadic by choice. They moved around because they had to… they were persecuted everywhere they went, and still are, to this day. They were persecuted alongside the Jews in the Holocaust – the Roma & Sinti”. They were forced to have this sort of nomadic lifestyle because “no country wanted them there”. (x)
Let’s not forget these lovely things Rromani people did and still go through because of who they are:
“Forced sterilization (yes, it is still happening)
Eviction
Harassment (by law enforcement as well as civilians)
Fingerprinting (this is happening in Italy right now – all Romani people are being fingerprinted, simply because our race is considered ‘criminal’)
Concentration camps
Starvation
Exclusion from public schools and welfare programs
Bombings (it is not uncommon in places like the Czech Republic for people to throw molotov cocktails into the windows of Romani homes)” (x)
“First and foremost: THE WORD “GYPSY” IS AN ETHNIC SLUR. It is a pejorative. It is an exonym that is hurtful and offensive. You need to accept this, period.
We are NOT your halloween costume. We are NOT your flowy skirt. We are NOT your fashion sense. We are NOT your wanderlust. We are NOT ‘boho.’
Gypsy is not fashion. Gypsy is not traveling. Gypsy is not a headband or a costume, or boho, or a long skirt.
Gypsy is a hurtful ethnic slur used to refer to the Romani people.
We cannot seem to emphasize this enough to people. This word is a slur. It was created to be a slur. Its meaning does not change. It will always be a slur. It will always be offensive.
‘The word is not yours. It’s ours. We can use it as we see fit. You cannot.’ - biggadjeworld
We are a real people, with traditions, culture, and colorful heritage that spans centuries.” (x)
The “x”s in the post refer to sources you can click on and educate yourself with. On those pages, there are more links to become familiar to this slur and the Rromani people.
Also, don’t forget to stop by thisisnotromani!
- Jess
This is some shit that the witchcraft and neopagan communities really need to get straight. You are not a “gypsy” witch, that does not make you mystical, you are not special, you are just racist. V sorry.
I REALLLYYY need everyone to read this at least three times so there is no chance for confusion.
This is important! In America we are not used to hearing it as a slur, so it can be hard for us to realize it’s one if we don’t run into it or seek it out. Fly across the pond and say it you will get VERY different responses. If you want replacement words for free spirit and bohemian aesthetic, just use “free spirit” or “hippie” or even “flower child” honestly. Hippie Witch sounds more catchy anyway 🌻
Never appropriate someone’s culture for the sake of ‘aesthetic’!!! Learn the history of the words you use. Respect people. Say what you mean (and if you use these slurs, you MEAN to be racist, no two ways about it!). If “free spirited traveler” appeals to you there are suggestions above- other suggestions:
Traveling witch, footloose, wanderlust, free-wheeling, free lance, roaming, nomadic, mugwump, beatnik, avant-garde, offbeat, alternative, idiosyncratic, arty, outlandish, backpacking, bird of passage, excursionist, explorer, gadabout, globetrotter, landloper, adventurer, nonjuror (like conjuror!), pereginator, peripatetic, rootless, scatterling
Thank you for educating people about this!

Witch Locator Map!
The other day, @wandsbrewsandbroomsticks posed a question on her blog. She asked, “Why isn’t there like a dating app or social app (besides Tumblr) for witches?” And that gave me a brilliant idea!
What if there was a way to pull up a map and see where other witches were in correlation to where I was? I have seen it done before, so I decided to go out and search!
INTRODUCING THE WITCH LOCATOR MAP!
Browse the map and see where witches are! Check out links to their blogs and see others who share your similar interests!
But how do I enter in my own information? That’s easy.
At the top, there is a section called Additions. Click there and then hit Add Marker. From there, fill out the following sections this way:
Under the Location Tab **ENTRY NAME: @yourtumblrname **LOCATION: your city **MARKER: pick a color
Under the Details Tab **DESCRIPTION: a brief description of what kind of witchcraft you practice and other details. **EMAIL AND PHONE: do not fill this section out. We don’t want you giving out personal information that can endanger you! **WEBSITE: your Tumblr url.
Under the Media Tab **UPLOAD: share a small picture of yourself or something that represents your blog!
Finish up by clicking Submit! After that, share with your followers by reblogging this post!
There are rules to this though, witches! 1. Do not abuse the map. If you spam an area or harass someone, you will be removed from the map and IP banned from accessing it. 2. Do not be creepy. Some people may choose not to reply to any messages you send. Don’t continue to bother them. 3. Do not post lewd photos or NSFW content on the map. We have witches of all ages accessing this map and want it to be an open and safe community. 4. Do not edit or manipulate other markers. Like I mentioned before, I can track your IP and you don’t want a mama witch gettin’ mad at ya. 5. If you are under 18, please ask your guardians’ permission to put your information on the map.
SHARE THIS WITH YOUR FOLLOWERS! ADD YOURSELF AND MEET OTHER WITCHES IN YOUR AREA! HAVE FUN AND BE SAFE!
**If you need help with the map, just let me know.
ENJOY!

Reading up on sea witch spells and seeing people suggest putting offerings in bottles and letting the sea carry then away.
This upsets me.
It’s littering. Please leave your offerings on something that’s not harmful to the environment. A sea shell, rock or even just on the beach. Please don’t use anything that could cause harm to the ocean or its inhabitants. Thank you!
Not to hijack, but all offerings in natural spaces should be planned to be safe for the environment it’s going into. This is why I’m partial to offerings of water or other consumable fluids–if it’s safe to go in my belly, it’s probably safe to pour over some plants.
Yes. Stop telling people to bury things in jars, particularly . Bury things in (unbleached) paper towels, or the insides of bell peppers. And don’t bury things that won’t degrade. There are so many ways to do witchcraft that doesn’t involve burying things that won’t decompose!! If you can, opt to recycle the item, or better yet, just change out all your spell ingredients for stuff that is eco-friendly and able to rot if buried. Srsly.
THANK YOU!
to add: making bowls or balls of ice to bury or to be carried awayby the sea. Use unbleached paper towels or banana peels(if it’s safe) to write your spell on, etc. There are many safe ways to do magic without littering.
You can also use cabbage leaves and cotton kitchen string in place of a jar, or write your spell on a piece of un-coated (like not metallic, etc.) paper and fold it into an origami creature because the paper will degrade
Eco friendly witchery tips. :)

Do you know anything about creating servitors?
A servitor is a spiritual being you create in order to do your bidding.
Servitors are used for:
Protecting you spiritually.
Guarding your property or your loved ones.
Creating glamour: creating a certain aura about you, and how others perceive you.
Bring you things you might need.
Aid in tasks.
Some servitors are such powerful thoughtforms that even others can see it (although this tends to be rare or is reserved for long-existing servitors).
Essentially, creating a servitor is put into three parts:
Construction.
Charging.
Casting.
It is outlined as follows:
Construction
You will need to create a symbolic representation of your servitor. What do you want your servitor to do? If, for example, you would want your servitor to guard you, you might want to create one in the form of a knight or an intimidating dog. Or, if you want to create an appearance entirely of your own, you may wish to add features such as sharp teeth, claws, weapons, armour, etc.The possibilities are endless although I do suggest using features that you associate with protection (I prefer using traditional associations, sometimes I even borrow imagery from tarot cards). Even drawing it out on a piece of paper helps you mentally create a “solid” representation of it if you don’t want to solely rely on your imagination in your head. Also consider: what special powers does your servitor have? What colour aura does it have? It is advisable to create a smaller servitor to begin with because larger ones require more energy.
Create your statement of intent for your servitor (what you want it to do). However, be specific and create guidelines - for example, if you want your servitor to help you gain money, you may want to tell it that causing misfortune in order to gain money is not permissible. You don’t want anything to backfire!
It is also advisable that you create a sigil for your servitor or a symbol by which you will know your servitor. Finally, you will need to give your servitor a name. It can be any name you like or deem fitting. Do not tell anyone its name.
Charging
After you have created the appearance and description of your servitor, you will need to actually bring it to life.
Draw the sigil or symbol of your servitor on a piece of paper and find a place where you will not be disturbed. Focus all of your attention on the sigil, repeating the servitor’s name. Visualise as vividly as you can the servitor’s shape forming. Firstly the base, and then the main symbols and features, and then the detail. You need to believe with all your will that the servitor is real and alive. There is no point in creating something which you think does not exist. This can take from 10-30 minutes. Repeat this for three days. Afterwards, the servitor will be able to function and appear on its own.
Casting
You will need to give the servitor concise instructions on how to do your bidding here. See the servitor alive before you and call its name. Then, give it your instruction and then send it out to do your bidding. Never be afraid of your servitor, it is bound to you and it exists in order to fulfil your work and desires.
You will also have to decide on what your servitor will feed on in order to require energy (you may wish to do this on the creation section too). Here are some examples:
Sunlight.
Moonlight.
Incense.
Candles.
Attention.
Prayers.
Water.
I suggest not using your blood or yourself as a way to charge it because this can very quickly spiritually drain you, especially if it is a larger servitor.
You might also want to create a vessel or talisman for your servitor, and this way “feeding” it is easier as you can place the object on the feeding source. You can use anything you deem fitting for this, either jewellery, a statue, a drawing, a crystal, etc.
To get rid of a servitor
If you no longer require a servitor because its purpose has been fulfilled, you may wish to destroy it. You can either stop using it and feeding it, destroy its vessel, or simply tell the servitor to stop and return to you.
Damon Brand suggests that you add a code word or ritual to the job description that when spoken or done ends the life of the servitor – the warning being that it shouldn’t be a word or ritual that you could do by accident and destroy your Servitor without that being your intention.
