Catarina de Lurton in Deus Salve o Rei ↳ episode 89, scenes
a starter for @wintersaurora, where: damn this line is long at the gelato stand
The weather had somehow manifested into the perfect temperature to snag some gelato. Maybe it was the amass of bodies either fighting or dancing, or the throngs of people littered between such shows but the line for the stand had amassed considerably. Milena could also presume that the buy one get one free Cloe had decided to gift her could also be apart of it but the druid merely hummed happily; Milena would still find plenty of time to be back before Huntress performed. "What's your favorite?" Called lightly to the person behind her, Milena turned; their presence brought a swarm of chill, it almost allowed a shiver to run up the Fox's spine.
Finally deciding to enjoy herself at Lupercalia before the big fight, the Chancellor beelined for the ice cream stand. The line was long but it didn't matter as the elf looked towards the photos of the ice cream flavors and debated branching out from her favorites. Perhaps she's browse the new apps Nirvaan downloaded for her when the woman nearly at her side spoke, and her attention turned.
Aurora had had both the blessing and curse of being able to see a fictional form of her children grow up at her side; there would be not a single moment in her immortal life where she would forget their faces. But for darker eyes, the shorter cut of her hair and something about her cheeks this stranger was nearly identical to what she remembered of her daughter, Aspen Caruso. The elf was silent for a moment, thinking back on the favor she'd asked of Hermes and wondering if this was the avariel's doing. If it truly... Aurora looked around, her perpetually rosy cheeks now paling before she turned back to the woman. Druid. This was a druid.
"... What?" Aurora backtracked, blinking, smiling and quickly schooling her face into something far more friendly and less stricken. "Oh, favorite flavor... Stracciatella. Definitely." It was difficult to push down the panic and awe when, deep down, she felt this was right. That this was some sort of gods-given miracle. "What about you?"

"So this is cute," he was being cheeky, looking at the not so modest accommodation that Aurora had built for him and Eric. It was nice, however, enough for a druid to practice his magic, enough for a lycan to have fun with the lythari that now littered each of the courts. "I didn't think you'd be this ready to have two new visitors or...be this excited." Raja was mostly kidding, because he knew Aurora was ready to have the two of them live within her home, where she could keep an eye on the two of them. Raja had many lives before him, and one of the few comforts was that Aurora would be around to find him in each of them. And it kept him safe from whatever pull Octavian would have in the future. "I know you're dying to show me around, so lead the way."
It... wasn't modest, the Chancellor had to admit that to herself as she looked up at the building she had fast-tracked commissioned. But it was also big enough that Raja and Eric would have all the time and space to make it their own each day. Aurora was practically beaming like the full moon, smiling wide and vibrating with eagerness in adornments that jingled and sparkled with each quickened step she took. Her gown whispered over the snow as she lifted parts of it to rush closer to the home. "The back will have tons of room for you two to build the garden of your dreams... Well, in the greenhouse, anyway." Few things were strong enough to grow in the cold, and while lunar elves had their customs, she figured the two mortals weren't yet used to that life. So the greenhouse was enormous. "Just past the trees there are some hot springs, just for the two of you. The property is about as big as a football stadium and a half and the ends are marked by pink winter-growing lily of the valley shrubs so the elves won't bother you both while you run in your own forest space... I already told you about the enchantments, right? Neither of you need to fear the cold no matter where you go so long as you don't venture up Auril's Peak." Aurora tapped her fingers on her palm as she tried to remember what else she wanted to ramble about.
"It'll be safe and it'll be yours as long as you want it... The Archdruids have no power here." Octavian could take away magic but he'd be out of his depth in a world that the elves protected. "Just tell me what more I can do."

The way Aurora described it sounded... Intimate, because if nothing else it was obvious that the chancellor and Farenduil had been spending a great deal of time together. Obviously, this irked him the wrong way, but he hadn't come here to start yet another fight, and he especially hadn't come here to talk about.... Aurora and Farenduil in a car together. Micah could feel his body tensing in a reflexive response to the daydream-like quality that had overtaken Aurora's features for a moment. He'd spent too much energy tearing into her, blaming her for everything instead of seeing the chancellor for what she was. They all had their damage, and they all made mistakes. Micah had made his share.
"I don't-" Micah sighed for a second before he took a breath, "That's not why I'm here. I just wanted to make amends. I said a lot the last time we saw each other, and all that aside, I don't want to carry these feelings towards you anymore."
Honestly, Aurora hadn't had the faintest clue why the former faiman had come to her but she couldn't have expected it was for any sort of reconciliation. She had expected to only try her best making a conversation and making the encounter as pleasant as possible before he likely asked for something and she delivered whatever it was he wanted. She figured she could spend the rest of their newly two immortal lives trying to make up for what she'd done in the past to Farenduil's twins but it wouldn't be enough - she knew. She'd attempt the very next best thing if they let her.
And clearly Micah was letting her far more than Aurora had ever expected. She was silent for a few seconds, taken off guard. "... I carried feelings like that around for almost two centuries," she mused quietly. A small, delicate and slightly sad smile curled her lips before Aurora nodded. "If you and your sister taught me anything it is that the elven have much to learn from the younger and the mortal... although I suppose you're no longer mortal." Her throat bobbed. "I will spend the rest of my life learning to be better, Micah, and though I can see you are doing this for your healing, I am grateful you reached out. It means more than you can know."

ok no. u know what??? winter my beloved. stepping inside and soaking in warmth like bread. drinking hot chocolate and tasting the sun. spritzing your scarf and tucking your nose in like a little bird. layering blanket upon blanket, no chance of sweat. sleep is now slumber, warmth is a gift. holiday lights are love letters from neighbor to neighbor. each morning is clear like the silence before creation. each cloud of breath reminds me how alive i am.

"Well, now that both of us won, who are we supposed to bring with us to get gelato?" Cloud was sure that Aurora had plenty of people she could bring with her, but they themself did not. Maybe they would bring Viola with them. They very well couldn't bring Ganymede considering the fact that the aspect had told them that the two of them were merely just friends. Putting the wrong idea out there was certainly not on the agenda. So here they stood wondering what Aurora was going to do with their prize with the very fast approaching expiration date. "We've got about a day to figure it out, too."
“... Okay, but what if we just convince them to give us two each instead,” she figured. Aurora was giving Nirvaan his space to enjoy his day with his tiefling and she was secretly hoping that Farenduil would take advantage of the celebrations to find time to spend with Micah. Despite wanting him at her side very much, the father-son pair needed that. Aurora didn’t have much closeness to the rest of her small family, save for Cloud, now that her mother was gone.
She also really loved ice cream.
“Hey, didn’t you summon a manifest recently?” She narrowed her eyes at them, slightly accusingly. But the resentment for not being told was a playful dig. The cousins didn’t tell each other everything that happened to them in that moment; their easy and low-maintenance relationship benefitted both their personalities very well. “Why didn't you invite them? Are they that bad?”

"Yeah... yeah that sounds like her." Micah conceded as he worried his hand at the back of his neck. He had every faith that his sister would be back at some point, she was just the kind of person who couldn't stay away. Anyways, the two of them had a lot of time now, forever, some might say. That was something that the young eladrin was still wrapping his mind around, forever and immortality, but he had no real frame of mind for it yet. In a few decades, it'd start to really sink in, but now he had bigger problems, he was still reeling from the events of the end, his slip-ups afterward, and why he'd come to stand in front of Aurora now.
"Faren told you?" It felt strange to say his name but Micah didn't really know what else to call him now, he smirked, albeit a bit sheepishly. "I didn't know you spent a lot of time with mortals." The dig was subtle, he knew what the man had given up and it looked good on him.
Aurora nodded as he spoke. It was odd, almost uncomfortable to stand there with the eladrin. Because while the elve had very much wanted to maintain a cordial relationship with Farenduil’s son, that had never been up completely to her. He’d been cold, distant and resentful; it was something that Aurora couldn’t blame him for at all. She would have been the same if not much, much worse.
“You’d be surprised,” Aurora replied at the subtle dig with a wry smile. She might have given an explanation but mentioning her past, all that happened with her children, with Ayi’ig or with anything else felt too risky still. “I learned to cook without magic and apparently I’m not so bad about it,” she said with some pride. “Bought a motorcycle too… though that was because the last time your father was in my car he came out white knuckled.” Aurora grinned at the memory, almost losing herself completely to it. “The motorcycle is a lot more like a direwolf.”
@wintersaurora location: Lunar's Mountains Village Fun notes: sorry
Name-dropping was kind of shameless, but it worked wonders. It helped that the eladrin could tell when he was being misled, Micah was vocal, so calling elves out on being sneaky little shits was something he almost enjoyed doing. Micah made it up in the small, winter village and was surprised at how comfortable it was. Finding Aurora was easy but knowing what to say next was less so, he started with something stupid, "Emma's gone, she left uh. I don't know if she told you she was leaving but yeah, traveling I guess. Working." Since she was dead.
Lupercalia was going on and Aurora would stop by only for the finale. It would be wise to see who would be next to lead their wolven neighbors. But the Chancellor currently busied herself in Nighthaven, speaking to the elves that were intent on bringing in old tomes and ancient books salvaged from the former Winter Court of the Otherworld. Warriors intent on facing dangers out there to retrieve their history. Already looking rather worried as she watched them ride away, the same expression on Aurora's face only took on a new hint of shock as she turned to notice the blonde eladrin approach.
"She left a letter," Aurora admitted. "And Faren told me." Otherwise, it would have been a panic for the both of them - wondering where she might have gone to. "... How have you been, Micah? And welcome to the Lunar Mountains. Aneth ara." The elvish was a typical elven greeting, but one that was typically reserved only for their kind rather than outsiders, though Aurora extended it to all the half elven who visited.

Gillian Flynn, Sharp Objects
"Less of a crow, more of a surprise, really." He's kind of amused by the whole situation, the one that he has kept to himself. "And I think we should probably label this before either of us talk about children." It's kind of out of his mouth that holds a crooked smile before he can think about it. It's such a silly thing, labels. The mortals had all of these terms now thanks to those dating apps. 'Situationship' and 'side piece' and 'girlfriend' and whatever the hell a 'simp' was. There was no doubt in Farenduil's mind that the feelings between them were mutual and they were monogamous. But he shakes his head gently to dismiss the thought before leaning over to press his lips to her forehead. * A few minutes later, table set and breakfast before them, he looks over at her and he rests his elbows on the table, steeples his fingers together over the morning coffee. "I'm planning on talking to Octavian at Lupercalia."
Aurora giggled a bit, the sound muffled by her own lips as they curled up. "It's a joke," she said, letting out a breath of amusement. Because it was and the elve hoped that made it evident that she wasn't sure if she was ready to talk seriously about children, or if she ever would be. Both of them had lost children and Farenduil was right in that they hadn't exactly named this situation of their's yet. Did they have to name it? Perhaps. If it made him happy, it would make her happy. She hadn't thought on it but Marcus had also been quicker to act on things back in the day - perhaps it was just the unique mind of mortals. Aurora smiled at the kiss and then figured they ought to get the day started with that.
---
It's a lazy, happy start and the quiet that settled over them both as they began to eat was more comfortable than she might have ever expected in the company of the once-Prince. She was in the process of biting into a breakfast sandwich when Farenduil spoke. "Octavian?" The word was muffled by food and hand covering her mouth before Aurora gave herself a moment to chew and swallow, looking at him puzzled and a little shocked. "... Why?" A bit of concern settled on her features. It was clear Aurora wasn't fond of the idea - Octavian had been banished by his own people. Even Raja grew weary of him.
