Oh, goddamn;
Whatâs your take on this lyric from âivyâ?
âAnd the old widow goes to the stone every day, But I don't, I just sit here and wait, Grieving for the livingâ.
The widow goes to the cemetery to grieve for her dead husband at his grave
This is being compared to:
The narrator, who doesnât have a dead husband just a dead marriage she wants out of - wants a way out of - needs a way out of; and is grieving for the people (her, or her husband, or both) who are still living in this loveless, dead situation.
in âtis the damn season the smooth flow of the chorus and the melody and Taylorâs sweet as sugar voice make it I think easy to overlook the first verse of the song ....
which is kinda sad !!!! but where the narrator is back in town for the holidays and runs into this old flame who has the balls to tell her who theyâve been with (literally) and sheâs hurt about it (reasonably so, but it was probably to get back at her) BUT also running into them reignites these old feelings in her, maybe due to jealousy, maybe due to an unrequited ache from the past, probably both, so she contacts them back up after their chance encounter and is like âhey, what you said, that hurt. But we can call it even cause I know I hurt you back in the day when I left you. Anyway you uh wanna hang out :) if youâre into it you know where to find me ;) (her parents house)
And she KNOWS this is gonna hurt bc she knows she canât just stay in her hometown forever cause itâs not her home anymore and she has to go back to LA and her life there where sheâs been struggling and her new friends arenât all that .. and she knows this is gonna break her heart because sheâll have to leave and only has the weekend BUT she decides wants to be with them again anyway because she MISSES THIS PERSON THAT MUch, that the future pain of leaving (again) would be worth it
... and as sheâs kinda talking herself into it then it all comes flooding back to her, this person knew her so well, like to the point they knew her fake smile, much unlike her new LA friends, and she realizes she would be perfectly content to just ride around in their truck together if it meant spending more time together, and that after all this time that has passed and things have been objectively messy, in the end? She craves their company. The familiarity. The person who gets her.
What we donât find out is DID THEY SAY YES? We donât know!!! And weâre left kind of aching to know the answer in the end !!!!! and i think us not getting an answer and left hanging, it kinda is meant to parallel her ache, this unfulfilled feeling
.... which is just genius songwriting
Taylor is sick for writing âAnd if this is the long haul howâd we get here so soon?â..... because people will often say âweâre in it for the long haulâ when they find their significant other so âhowâd we get here so soonâ is implying they ended their relationship way earlier than they were anticipating and those lyrics hurt my feelings

In honour of the first decade of Taylorâs Career⌠x
âStyle is such a personal thing; itâs your way to be an individual. Know your style and own it. Thatâs brave. Bravery happens to different people in different ways. I think it could be as simple as saying what you mean, it could be as simple as being honest with who you are or who you loveâ â Taylor Swift (for Keds)

âThank you so much, thatâs awesome. I feel like I should be doing something entertaining right now. I immediately just wish I could juggle. I canât. I have nothing to offer. I just have thanks, thanks so much.â
A year ago an Arizona girl was fighting for her life after being diagnosed with cancer and used Taylor Swiftâs song âBad Bloodâ as her fight song. On Saturday stood feet away from her idol Taylor Swift as she victoriously sang that anthem along with the pop star at a concert in Texas.
Last year, 12-year-old Naomi Oakes, who lives in Arizona, but has family in Utah, missed out attending Swiftâs August show of the â1989â World Tour, because it was in the middle of her treatment.
She learned in June she had been diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. The childhood blood cancer might have stopped her from attending a concert, but it couldnât stop Naomi from fighting to get well again.
A video her father created titled âNaomiâs Bad Bloodâ went viral and reached the eyes of Taylor Swift. The pop star made a generous donation of $50,000 to Naomiâs GoFundMe page. At the time Naomiâs uncle, Robert Percival, told KUTV of the donation.
âI broke down and cried,â he said. âItâs just amazing that thereâs somebody with her celebrity that would think about people and be able to donate. Itâs just great.â
Along with the donation, Swift left a message that stated: âto the beautiful and brave Naomi, there are going to be plenty more concerts to attend, just focus on getting better.â
Naomi, of the Mesa, Arizona area, did just that and went through four rounds of chemotherapy and was able to take a 6-9 month hospital stay expectation and turn it into getting out in five months. She finished up chemo treatments in November.
Today Naomiâs cancer is still in remission.
Last year, Naomiâs mother Shannon Oakes bought her daughter tickets to Taylor Swiftâs â1989â show, but Naomi was never able to go because of her cancer.
After hearing her daughter had a clean bill of health she wanted to try and make it up to Naomi. So for six months she kept a secret about some tickets she bought for an October show at a Formula 1 race in Austin, Texas. She was also able to get Swiftâs people to arrange a meet and greet with her daughter.
A week before the trip, Shannon recorded Naomiâs reaction to what they were planning to do. They were going to Texas, but Naomi didnât know what for.
As the day of the concert got closer, Shannon revealed that she got tickets for an event in Austin, Texas and asked her daughter if there was anything in Austin she would like to do.
âShe knew right away,â Shannon said. âShe said, âTaylor Swift.ââ
Naomi also found out she would be going with her best friend Piper, who is from the Salt Lake City, Utah area. A bus even came and took the girls to the pit, right up next to the stage.
The two girls got to go back stage and meet Swift.
âTaylor Swift has got to be one of the nicest people in the world,â Shannon said adding that they didnât know what to expect, or if Taylor would even remember Naomi.
When Naomi walked in it was clear Swift knew exactly who she was.
âI just found out five minutes ago that you were coming back and that just made my day,â Swift said.
Naomi replied with a smile, âWell you just made my life.â
Shannon said all she and her daughter ever wanted to do was give Swift a hug because of the monetary donation she made in 2015, that âmade such a huge differenceâ to help cover medical costs.
âNaomi got to do that over and over and over,â she said. âIt was just a really neat experience.â
