Sprint Recap #5
Recap: Recently, we have put finishing touches on the care box. We put vinyl stickers on the care box, which included the title, the description of what the box was, some vectorized pictures of bottles, flowers, mask to emphasize what's in the box, some smiley faces, flowers and grass to give it a peaceful welcoming look. We are currently waiting for the dispensers to come in the mail so that the box will be complete. So far we have water bottles, some books (we will be adding more), masks, hand sanitizer, tampons, and pads. We just need to get a grass texture as well (Ariadna has some samples in the box) so that we can put it on parts of the box, install the dispensers and it will be complete. From our previous sprint, we had spoken about how we had made an instagram account for the box to get it noticed. Ryan suggested that we make something to give it personality like some sort of character. I designed a character for the box and am thinking of how to give it more personality. I went for a very friendly and simple looking design. I have created one post and am planning to make more before the final sprint.
Next Sprint: So now we actually plan to have this box completed and out on the street for the public to use. We found a specific bus stop to place it at so that each of us could take turns checking on the box. We’re just waiting for the dispensers to come in the mail so that we can install those and put the box out. I plan to have more ads on the instagram page so that people will know it's out there.
Reflection: I’m excited for the last sprint as we will be presenting our sprint for the class as well as some of the folks from single stone. I’m happy how far we’ve gotten. It’s been very exhausting and I want this box to get out there as soon as possible. I’m thrilled to hear what the people at single stone think and what the class thinks as well. Over the course of the sprints I’ve been having a hard time presenting to the class and some times have been better than others, but I really want to go out with a bang for the final.
Sprint Recap #4
Recap: This sprint the team worked together as we put our heads together and began to work on constructing the box. We started to work on the box by sanding it and priming it for painting. We went to plaza and Lowes to get supplies. We sprayed the box the color that we decided which was chartreuse. A fun thing I got to do for the box was use Carlees jigsaw to cut wood to make a shelf inside of the box. After, we went to single stone for the Problem Solving field trip where we were given feed back on our project. Lauren had given me information about someone she knows that is working on a similar project so I emailed her later for the contact information.
Next Sprint: Our plans are to finalize the box. We still have more things to add such as the dispensers, the grass, etc. We need to get this done soon so that we can document people using the box. We are thinking about asking someone for permission to put the box on their property temporarily to get data for this project. Ariadna has sent out finalized designs for the type to be printed as vinyl stickers. I am also working on ads to use for the instagram page we created to give the box more personality and spread awareness.
Reflection: We’ve had a few setbacks such as showing up to orientation to be certified to use the 3D printers and the instructor wasn’t there. Not only that but we’ve had setbacks on progress of the box. It’s been frustrating and we all have lots of ideas so now we’re just sort of working on our own ideas and presenting them to each other.

Sprint RecapFor this sprint, me and Carlee tried to take the initiative to speak more during the presentation as Ariadna and Eleanor are usually the most vocal. Me and Ariadna presented a series of posters that we had created and printed out. We each created four posters, each one relevant to a subproblem. Carlee had created a few posters as well, but Eleanor and Carlee focused on the what the care-box should look like. So we presented prototype designs for the care box as well as our series of posters. We had asked the class to critique our posters and let us know what we should do to improve on them.
Plans for next sprint After that sprint, the next class we talked about what we should do next. We devided that me and Ariadna were going to create some more finalized posters and hang them up at nearby bus stops and document it, and we were going to get things for the carebox. We all decided to go to fantastic thrift together to get things for the box. We bought a wooden piece of furniture that we plan to use for the care box. We plan to work on the box as a group and set it out at a nearby bus stop and take turns to see if it has been used. ReflectionsFrom the sprint where the class critiqued my posters, I realized I should not make my posters affiliated with GRTC as me and my group are not affiliated with them and it make it more likely to get my posters taken down. I was also made aware to make the text bigger on the posters.

Sprint Recap
For this sprint, I found myself understanding the direction of where my group wants to take this problem. Last week I suggested that we make a series of posters to address problems with the GRTC bus stops and shortage of bus drivers. My group and I created mood boards to inspire a type of feel that we wanted to include into the posters. Me and Ariadna visited Middle of Broad, a class for senior interior designers, graphic designers, fashion designers, etc. They suggested that we try and design a smaller prototype as GRTC only allows such a small amount of space to be used for bus stops. We sketched up prototypes that could be placed by bus stops that could accommodate for bus riders such as water bottles that could be placed inside the prototype. It would also serve as a place for riders to sit. All of us have done research for the prototype, and currently we are designing posters and trying to get closer to a final design for the prototype.
Plans for next Sprint
For our next sprint we will be focusing on creating a new iteration series of our posters after they’ve been critiqued by the class. We will also be taking the prototype forward and creating a more accurate replica of the prototype model. We’re going to create a more final draft of the prototype so we can figure out how we want to go about making the final prototype of the care box. We will figure out the costs of We will also be putting up our next iterations of the posters at bus stops and documenting it. We will also be coordinating costs for posters and materials for prototype.
Reflections
The beginning of this project was slightly confusing because I was trying to figure out what page everybody was on. Now that we’re all on the same page and we all know what we want to accomplish, I have a stronger sense of drive for the project. I’m really excited for how our efforts will turn out in the end.

01 Sprint Recap Over the duration of this topic, my group has formed in hopes of solving a problem that we all equally feel strong about. So far we have made sufficient progress over the past few weeks as we have collected information about the GRTC bus sytem and bus stops. Each of us have come up with various plans for research such as reaching out to GRTC themselves, talking to local bus users, etc. I accomplished a lot in the research as I accumlated a lot of data about the GRTC system. While I did research on the internet and gathered data, Carlee tried to get in contact with GRTC with no avail. She found an instagram page that had information about the GRTC and contacted the owner of the page for an interview. We scheduled an interview with the owner and while Carlee and Ariadna asked questions, me and Eleanor took notes.
02 Next Sprint For the next sprint we will be creating a series of posters that advocate the need for better bus stops, more bus drivers, and accomodations for bus riders. These posters will be for hanging up at bus stops. Our group has discussed about the possibility of our posters getting taken down as it could be seen as a possible form of vandalism. However, in our efforts to improve the bus riding experience we may need to hang them up else where. We have been doing research and creating mood boards to start us off for what direction we want to take for these posters. Ariadna suggested that we print using risograph as we could print in bulk, therefore if the posters did get taken down we would have plenty of extras.

This was an experiment with a CRT effect, something that I’ve been considering using for my speculative world book. This piece won’t be in the book but I thought I’d include it to show part of my thought process

I spent 8-10 hours on this beat and I’m really proud of it. I wish you could hear the bass more, I made several iterations with the bass higher but the downside to that was not being able to hear the melody as well.
