“A little lonely? And for that you want the company of the… how do they say…? ‘The grumpiest person’ around the Sanctuary? That’s an interesting fact.” El Cid replied, and a genuine laughter left his lips. His whole self now not only seemed more relaxed while drinking wine, putting his feet on the small table and and arm on the couch’s rest, but also seemed like a totally different person from the Capricorn Saint that everyone knew.
That was the thing though- They didn’t know him. It wasn’t a lie when they say a Capricorn’s heart and whole life is a strong built wall and only those allowed (or pesistent enough to try) to go inside will know what truly lies in there. El Cid was nothing but the typical, stereotype of this. Stern, serious, “grumpy” to the core, but once you managed to get his trust enough for him to open himself up, that is what you would get. The Saint that was somewhat laughing, smilling and sorta making jokes along the Sagittarius Saint- the only one, for know, who with his arrows was strong and brave enough to brake the spanish’s strong walls.
“I need you too. It does goes both ways, you know that. It’s not presumptuous of you.” He replied, as straight forward and unashamed as El Cid always was. There was no need for it after all, was it. “It does gets lonely and somewhat boring when you’re not around either. Rusk, Lacaile and Tsubaki ain’t got the guts to actually scold me, which I find funny in a way.” He replied, smilling, drinking more and staring Sisyphus. “You’re the only one who can do that and - as much as I truly hate to admit it - you’re the only one who sometimes can knock some senses inside my head so. Yeah.” The Capricorn shrugged, drinking once again and siging, but with a very shy smile on his lips. “I’ll try my best not to be annoying and let you look up for me, dad. I promisse.” He replied. And while Sisyphus was the one who said that El Cid came into his life in a time when he needed soeone like him the most, perhaps the Sagittarius Saint didn’t know - or didn’t notice - that it this too went both ways. In almost all the moments of his life, El Cid needed someone like Sisyphus to be there for him and with him, and this was something he could never be more grateful for having.
Sisyphus laughed lightly. “Those apprentices of yours are probably your biggest fans. I think they’d be hard-pressed to find something to scold you about, but for the fact that you’re very strict about their limitations. Not that I disagree with you on that… They’re a tad overambitious, though their intentions are good. I know a little something about trying to rush into greatness.”
He’d had his own words to say to those three on at least one occasion, after all. But Sisyphus did believe that the arrangement had a positive effect on both El Cid and his apprentices.
“It gets boring without me too, you say? And yet I recall many times when my ‘quality time’ with you was watching you train,” he joked. “You’ll make me start to wonder if you just enjoy showing off.”
Sisyphus did know that it went both ways, of course, but hearing it still made him feel warm.
