I raise you a single person being aware Abolish is throwing himself at the Scott problem to save their doc some sanity.

My gut says Cleo (bc the interactions and oh man Cleo is starting to regret the fact Doc is the most respectable vampire in a 30 mile radius). But my funny bone says Sausage, because simply imagine. How annoyed would Abolish be about being so transparent to This Guy of all people??? How much awkward questioning of his involvement in the polycule from hell is he enduring? Has Sausage broke into his house to ambush him about this? Probably. Can Abolish do or say anything that would truly stop that man? Not really.

oh good lord imagine:

sausage bursts into Abolish’s house like “you’re a spy!!!” And Abolish, slowly slipping his dagger back into his sleeve innocently just goes “excuse me?”

and Sausage launches into this tirade of all the behaviours he’s noticed from Abolish, and how he’s obviously a spy sent to, I dunno, destroy the Goldsmith line? Prevent a vampire/human war? Something dramatic, I’m sure.

Abolish just standing in shocked silence because HIM? Of All People to figure out vaguely what’s going on, it’s SAUSAGE????

As I understand it, the main appeal of bloodloathing is the ideological opposition and Legs feeling genuine hatred for someone, but I feel like the problematic will to live gap is kind of important, too.

I’ve been sitting on this one for a lil bit, trying to figure out my thoughts

cause here is my hot take: I don’t think the Doc *actually* wants to die. He wants a punishment for what he has done, and he thinks the only fitting one is death, but every time he is confronted with the chance to die - he keeps living! (In the au and honestly in canon too)

so he may present as someone who wants to die, but he’s actually just someone who doesn’t think he deserves to live, which isn’t the same thing

and I think Scott finds that *fascinating*

I agree that normally Scott would at least be deeply confused by the idea of not wanting to live, because like???? Why the fuck would you not want to live???? Living is great!!

but with the Doc it’s different. It’s this fascinating push-pull of wanting to be dead but not wanting to die. Scott probably wants to find a way to make Legs admit that he wants to keep living. In a like “haha gotcha!” way.

The issue is Doc does not want to live forever, but he needs to maximise the help he can provide before it does (hence the deal with Cleo to 'keep him useful') , dying would shorten that time and therefore the amount of help he could give. It is also partly that he has a very strong and somewhat rigid moral system (it's just a bit wonky in that he is a lot harsher on himself (and nobles) than everyone else. The only other person he says deserves to die is Scott and like yeah.... But also Owen). He is never really changes in his belief about himself (and Scott) being irredeemable. Once he has decided someone is a monster (or just misguided), nothing really seems to change his mind. So his belief that he needs to die can't be changed much by his own desire to live.

Also it's doctor guilt Legundo, that man probably can have guilt over his desire to live

I think the only reason he chooses to die here (apart from the fact it is the only peaceful solution suggested) is because it is a more useful than dying of something like old age. His death has a purpose and a function and is a benefit to those he helps as they get something out of it.
