UNDESERVING

Send “That doesn’t look like a scratch.” for my muse to react to yours finding them bandaging a wound.

                    He  hadn’t  heard  her  approach ,   his  mind  was  in  a  haze  as  he  set  to  the  care  taking  of  the  result  of  his  recent  outing .   What  were  once  bright  blue  eyes  were  now  dulled  and  glazed  over ,   pain  radiating  through  his  body  that  stemmed  from  multiple  cuts  along  his  stomach  and  sides .   Blood  had  coagulated  and  stopped  dripping ,   but  his  pants  and  the  shirt  he’d  tossed  aside  were  still  stained  with  the  stuff .   This …   this  needed  to  stop .   Finding  enemies  to  fight ,   only  to  let  them  hurt  him  worse  than  he  knew  he  should  allow .   But  since  he  was  reawakened ,   since  he’d  come  back ,   nothing  else …   felt  real . 

                    When  her  soft  voice  floated  through  the  air  and  caught  his  attention ,   he’d  been  wrapping  a  bandage  around  the  cuts  on  his  side .   He  only  half  recognized  her  for  a moment  before  he  became  lucid  again  and  realized  what  she  was  seeing .   ❝   Ah–   Aqua ,   this …   ❞   Terra  looked  down  at  his  bared  torso ,   every  cut  and  bruise  on  display  for  his  oldest  friend .   Almost  shyly   –   more  out  of  shame   –   he  brought  his  arms  closer  to  his  body ,   trying  in  a  vain  attempt  to  hide  the  wounds  he’d  let  himself  take . 

                   He  could  feel  the  blood  drip  from  the  cuts ,   and  he  took  a  deep  breath  before  he  narrowed  his  eyes  and  swung  his  blade  through  the  Heartless ,   watching  it  disappear  and  its  heart  float  up .   He  panted  heavily  through  his  mouth  before  he  looked  back  at  Kairi ,   glad  to  see  she  was  in  good  shape .   Terra  stood  up  straight  and  looked  around ,   pleased  when  all  the  opponents  they’d  faced  were  gone .   ❝   Are  you  okay ,   ❞   he  asked ,   finding  it  strange  to  fight  beside  her  when  they  had  just  fought  against  each  other  only  months  before .

         “It does?”

          It looks like armor, kind of funny. Like a knight! He said it kept his arm strong, and she could imagine. It looked heavy. Standing and staring up at him, large brown eyes try to make sense of everything before giving a small nod. “Okay, so it keeps you strong. but how strong are you?”

         “–Are you a knight?”

                    A  soft  chuckle  escaped  his  lips  as  the  girl  continued  her  line  of  questioning .   She  was  so  small  and  innocent ,   the  light  that  reflected  in  her  soul  shone  bright  and  it  cast  a  shadow  upon  his  own .   That  couldn’t  be  helped  now ,   though ,   and  he  just  allowed  himself  to  bask  in  the  warmth  rather  than  be  swallowed  by  it .

“I’ve spent a fair bit of time around Riku, Kairi, and Sora,” He said, smiling a little and continuing to play with the few strands. Now that the conversation was no longer exclusively about him and his…feelings (ugh), he was feeling much more in control. “After that much time, you get a sort of sense for it.”

“Of course, you, silly. Do you see anyone else around? You look positively strapping.”

                    The  children  he’d  spent  so  long  trying  to  defeat ,   the  ones  who  had  consequently  been  his  savior . . .  There  was  always  a  pang  of  GUILT  when  the  trio  was  brought  up .   After  coming  back ,   after  finally  becoming  himself  again ,   he  noticed  the  similarities  between  himself ,  Aqua ,   and  Ven  in  those  three .   It  hurt  to  see  them  so  happy ,   even  after  everything  they’d  been  through .   He  could  only  look  on ,   mild  envy  encompassing  him  as  he  wished  that  he  and  his  friends  could  have  the  same  chance  to  be  happy .   Eyes  reflecting  the  soft ,   bright  color  of  the  sky  looked  back  at  the  young  man  in  front  of  him ,   becoming  uncomfortable  by  the  compliment  but  deciding  to  ignore  it ,   save  the  blush  that  refused  to  subside .

                    Hardened  eyes  turned  upward  to  the  rooftops ,   a  familiar ,   yet  extremely  unwelcome  voice  calling  for  his  attention .   The  words  were  said  with  malice  and  a  tinge  of  condescension .   Terra  grit  his  teeth  and  glared  at  the  boy  in  the  mask ,   at  Vanitas .   ❝   Not  yet .   But  the  day’s  not  done  yet .   I  could  still  fuck  a  few  things  up,   ❞   he  said  through  clenched  jaw. 

“Wow… that’s a little embarrassing. Who said I was talking about myself? I was merely expressing my admiration for the human condition, that’s all.” Joshua let out a little laugh and reached up to play with a strand of hair.  He… hadn’t really expected that reaction.

“You’re pretty young yourself, aren’t you? Especially for a Keyblade wielder.”

                    A  faint  blush  spread  across  his  tanned  cheeks  as  he  rubbed  the  back  of  his  neck  in  embarrassment .   He’d  just  assumed . . .   Eyes  of  sky  blue  darted  back  to  the  boy ,   the  one  with  the  odd  device  hidden  in  his  pockets .   ❝   Young ?   Me ?   ❞   Terra  blinked  a  moment ,   he  was  sure  the  years  spent  as  Xehanort’s  vessel  was  not  kind  upon  his  features .   He  at   least  looked  his  age . 

         “Whoa! You’re huge!” Running right up to him, the girl clad in pink starts circling him. She’s never seen someone so big before. Not even Kanji was as big as he was! Stopping right in front of him, she studies him a bit. From his funny pants, to that thing…on his shoulder. And then to his spiky hair. He certainly wasn’t from Inaba! “What’s that thing on your shoulder?”

                         The  young  girl  who  encircled  him  had  him  spinning  around  as  he  tried  to  keep  an  eye  on  her .   ❝   I ,   uh ,   hey -    ❞   He  couldn’t  help  the  small  chuckle  that  came  from  his  throat  as  he  watched  her  inspect  him .   What  a  cute  little  girl .   Without  thinking ,   he  wondered  if  this  was  how  Ven  was  when  he  was  younger .   He  should  find  him  soon . . .   ❝   It’s ,   uh ,    ❞    he  paused .   He  couldn’t  tell  her  what  it  really  did .   No  meddling  with  the  affairs  of  other  worlds ,   right ?   ❝   Uh ,   just . . .   something  to  keep  my  arm  strong .   ❞

“You know, it’s kind of amazing how used to pain one can get when they’re exposed to it constantly.”

“The ability to desensitize is truly marvelous.”

                    The  feeling  was  all  too  familiar  for  the  false  Master ,   and  how  he  had  been  able  to  make  it  through  the  days  of  waking  was  by  turning  everything  off .   If  he  didn’t  feel ,   he  wouldn’t  hurt .   And  he’d  be  less  likely  to  hurt  anyone  else  in  return .

"idiot..idiot...idiot.." aqua muttered as she punched him multiple times in the stomach, granted they became more taps; her head found itself on his shoulder, her breath shaky, as tears gently fell down her face like she had just broken one of her training keyblades. "Dumb..dumb..stupid terra.." She forgot how many emotions she could feel after ten years, she almost forgot.

                    Terra  had  been  dumbstruck  when  he  saw  her ,   any  and  all  functions  ceased  to  comply  as  he  stood ,   ready  for  the  onslaught  of  well - deserved  jabs  and  angry  words  he  was  sure  were  to  come .   As  she  approached ,   he  visibly  winced ,   seeing  her  fists  raise  up  and  watched  as  they  connected  with  his  stomach .   Thankfully ,   they  weren’t  incredibly  hard ,   and  as  she  laid  into  him  he  sighed  softly .   He  deserved  everything  she  said ,   every  hit .   But  Aqua . . .   she  deserved  none  of  the  pain  he’d  put  her  through .   She  deserved  no  tears .   All  he  could  say  was  a  soft ,   remorseful ,   ❝   I’m  so  sorry .   ❞
