Me an’ Adzuki made him a paintin’. Hmm…started listenin’ ta Madeon. Cause ya know, his music is pretty bomb. Uh…I don’ think anythin’…really excitin’ happened. Tha city has been…normal.”

“Whoops, my bad.” It might have slipped his mind. Sanae and Joshua had never really celebrated either of their birthdays before they’d started associating with mortals. Once you hit the big five-zero, they stopped feeling like such a big deal. It didn’t help that Joshua had never celebrated even when he’d been alive.

         “Nice try–!” {/It’s cute he thinks he can get away from her. Before he can pull away, she quickly wraps her arms around him and holds him close.}

For a brief moment, his smile becomes much more genuine. He hugs her back a little more firmly and rests his head against hers. It feels...good to breathe in her familiar aura... the small notes that make up Nicole are a comfort.

She couldn’t help but feel him a bit different from the person she’s always heard him to be. In all fairness, she’d never truly known him, herself, but she trusted Neku’s judgement on the matter. Regardless, it made her wonder… had Neku gotten through to him as he had with her, sparked a miraculous change of heart in him as well? There was only one way to find out.

“Hey Joshua,” she smiles casually, holding a piece of chalk of all things in her hands, “Do you wanna play a game with me?”

“I--? A game?” Joshua was taken so off guard by the request that he actually stammered for a moment. Ugh, that wasn’t his best look. 

However, any embarrassing expression of surprise he might be sporting was quickly washed away and he returned to his default smug expression.

         “Tha’s no’ wha’ I said, youse ass! If anythin’, we’re gonna star’ a suppor’ group fer yer Tin Pin addiction!”

         “…Youse lef’ me fer Tin Pin? Damn, Josh. I though’ youse was my brotha.”

         “–Where tha hell have youse been?”

“Wow, mister, you sure are tough, aren’t you?” Is he being completely ungrateful about having someone else do the heavy lifting that was slaying bloodthirsty beasts? Absolutely. Still, there’s something that catches his eye about him that makes him... pause. “You have a pretty nifty weapon there, too. Would you mind if I took a look at it?”
