Yep. I'm tired of these words being thrown around. I wish they could be deleted from larger fandom vocabulary.

I hate the word heteronormative the most right now. I've had a rant about it sitting in my drafts for two weeks. But I've been trying not to complain as much because I know constant negativity can be annoying for people. Especially because I've been complaining about the same topics over and over. If someone requests that I post it or if I see a take that makes it relevant, maybe I'll post it.

The issue with "heteronormativity" is that its not only getting bastardized in the bylr fandom, but in every single fandom and general queer spaces without researching what it means or reading academia about it. These terms get thrown around in a big game of telephone.

Exactly. I've been arguing over this topic for years. Will "accepts" that he's gay in that he knows it will never change and knowing that is his main source of struggle because he thinks it means there's something inherently wrong with him. Will bascially describes the definition of internalized homophobia multiple times in the show. He's thinks he's a mistake and that he'll end up alone.

It's ridiculous when people say Mike should've gotten Will's self-acceptance arc in s5. Even if Mike were canonically gay, their experiences would have been very different and Will's arc would've made zero sense when applied to Mike. And now that we know Mike is canonically straight, it's even worse that people want to steal a gay character's arc for a straight one. There are plenty of ways to make an interesting fanon queer arc for Mike without rebranding Will's.
