i think you have to romanticize autumn a little. what else are you supposed to do

There should totally be a movement called “Sleep in Public” where people defend their right to sleep on public property. Sleep in your cars. Sleep on benches. Sleep at the park. Just make it a mundane and regular part of life to see someone napping in the library. It would make it much harder to single out the homeless for harassment if everyone else is doing the same thing and much harder to argue that it’s a “threat to public safety” when it’s so clearly harmless.

“But homeless people commit crimes!” I have a very hard time believing they commit crimes while asleep.

people who think kids are stupid have clearly never once had to attempt to get through explaining a set of safety rules and expectations to a group of them. lawyers wish they had the falcon's eye for loopholes, technicalities, and potential exceptions that the average 3rd grader possesses.

Seriously imagine you move in next door to this massive historical house, and you’re curious as to who lives there and you see Guillermo, who politely waves and says hello before heading inside and you think “Oh he seems nice! Very polite!” because he looks like a children’s history teacher. Later that same night though, you see him suspiciously digging a human sized hole in the ground at like 12am only to stop in his tracks when a man calls his name and he responds with “COMING MASTER” which is so strange you forget the digging thing. Then that same week, again at night, you’re accosted by a goth couple in an obviously open marriage who want to have a threesome with you, which you decline because Nadja looks way more hungry than horny. Then that morning you meet their other roommate who’s literally humanized plain oatmeal and he’s so boring to talk to you pass out in the snow. A few days later you finally see the dude ordering Guillermo around and he’s a huge ottoman soldier who you’ve seen no less than three times wearing both a cloak and basketball shorts. Do you question this at all? Fuck no it’s New York.
