My hubris is growing 😔
All jokes aside, I'm very happy with how well this is going. This spindle is from a dowel, but I was working on a piece of I think cherry earlier that was too gorgeous. It unfortunately had a crack that went too deep to work out. I've got a big pile of cherry and pear, though, that I'd like to make a few nice spindles and maybe spools out of. It's from a couple trees I'm a bit sentimental over, though, so I want to get a bit more practice first.

Doing shop training and spent a little too long looking for the 3/8ths inch collet for the lathe. Instructor said “if it was a snake it would’ve bit you.”
My first bowl/dish attempts and just figuring out the tools moe that I have the lathe on a stand at the right height.
The cut is only slightly related. It’s from a regular old handsaw when I was shaping the chunk of firewood for the second.
Cedar and mystery firewood bag piece.
Universe, send me maple please.
