lots of discourse about rating fics in public bookmarks and how ridiculous it is that people feel like fanfic should be reviewed on the same level as goodreads.

one thing that i'm not seeing enough is how putting your criticism/feedback in bookmarks instead of the comments perhaps the most cowardly way to engage. the author has no way to respond, much less take it down if it's attacking their character instead of the story itself, and now there's public slander of the fic out there for anyone to look at.

you're effectively saying you're too scared to actually engage about what they wrote and just want to have a soapbox from which to spew your hatred. that's not a review, it's just weird schoolyard bullying, and while many seasoned fic writers know not to take it seriously, it's sad to see it on the works of newer writers who genuinely struggle to shake it off.
