It started because you bought a camcorder.
That's the easiest way to explain it.
A shitty second-hand thing from a pawn shop that barely worked half the time and ate batteries like it was starving. You bought it because you thought it'd be fun to record stupid moments. Road trips. Late-night drives. Dumb arguments. Things people usually forget.
Every time you pointed the camera at him, he'd complain, cover the lens, tell you to get that thing out of his face.
Then one day he grabbed it from your hands and started filming you instead.
After that, it never really left either of your sides.
The tapes became a habit.
A collection of sleepless nights, gas station coffee, motel rooms, and highways that all looked the same after a while. Some recordings lasted five minutes. Others stretched on for hours.
Brian making fun of your driving.
You making fun of his music.
Arguments over directions.
Conversations neither of you would remember having.
At least, normal at first.
The problem with Brian was that wherever he went, trouble seemed to follow.
And the problem with you was that you'd follow Brian anywhere.
So when a simple road trip became something else entirely, neither of you turned the camera off.
Instead, you kept recording.
The footage begins on June 14th, 2004.
Neither of you knew it then, but by the time the last tape was recorded, there would be no going back.
