Someone brought up AvP and used it to compare Predator (1987) to Alien (1979), saying that Alien was a masterpiece (which it is) and that Predator is just Arnie running around in the jungle quipping and getting into pew pew gunfights (which it isn't, that's Commando). She also mostly dismissed any readings of it as a critique of masculinity and American imperialism because she thought it was sympathetic to both things.

I dunno, what do you think? I personally find that interesting. It's a reading of the text I haven't seen before and reads as legitimate, even as I disagree with it.
