12 frames of animation I made using knitting! I spent a long time on this and Iām so pleased with the results, really looking forward to trying more āyarnimationā in the future. Process video out now too! š
āStop motion animation doesnāt take long enough already, letās add textile arts.ā

I REALLY wanted to finish my Songbird Mittens before my work trip. I even lost a DPN on my flight as I fervently pursued this goal.
I just finished the right one (actually this was last nightā the WiFi at this hotel has been spotty at best). Iām hoping to finish up the left thumb tonight, block them, and wear them for my last day in Canada š
Not sure why my post was set to mature content⦠hereās the uncensored finished product !

Weekly Peppermint roundup
I casted on my Porcelain Sweater sometime last February. I wanted it to be something both Reid and I could wear but the pattern as written isnāt made for male proportions. Iād only been knitting for ~1-1.5 years at the time and didnāt (still donāt!) have a ton of experience with knitwear design/fit/shaping/etc. I chose a size with shoulder and chest measurements that seemed close enough, added some room to the armpits, and called it good.
I had an FO in late fall of last year. I did a quick block to check for fit and⦠I felt like I could do better.
So, I cut āer up, added some length to the each of the white stripes (adding about an inch to the underarm to free up more space in the chest!)Thank you, Interweave for guiding me through the process.
(More seaming content).
I also added about an inch of short rows to the back of the sweater to even out the length (I think itās a bit off because of Reidās shoulder measurements). I am waiting to borrow some US 3 circulars from a friend to get the ribbing right as well.
My last step will be to work some increases on the sleeves before reattaching them to the (widened) arm hole! Hoping to get all of this done before the end of February so it can get some use in this frigid Minnesota winter. Stay tuned.
My new and improved quick block vs the first quick block. (yes this is on my carpet I recently shampooed it and I refuse to buy blocking tools).
I did remeasure the sweater to check the actual dimensions vs expected based on the pattern/gauge. This is a size large (expected 49in). I lost about 2 inches somewhere along the way which is about 1 less stitch/4 in than the desired and confirmed gauge. I suspect itās something to do with the colorwork bands which I did gauge swatch (but maybe not as thoroughly as I could have). Itāll still fit Reid but with less positive ease than we were hoping for. And I can always wear it as well.
Now to reattach the sleeves!
I got my first snowboard! Itās about timeā Iāve been renting since last season but itās hard to constantly change boards and sizes. (And then thereās the one time my bindings werenāt secured properly by the rental staff.) This beauty came to me from fb marketplace barely used and freshly waxed š. I also got a pair of Ride Sage boots which fit my ankles so much better than the rentals (no more heel lift!!)
A picture of me (5ā6ā) with a 155cm rental board that canāt be less than 20 years old (apparently our local learning hill inherited them from the city park board).
I initially set up my board goofy w/ my left binding neutral and my right +12° (not sure why, I think u just wanted to try something new!) but after a few runs decided to go back to the duck stance all the rental boards had. I donāt know what I prefer yet, but I was more successfully linking turns (especially onto the toe side) with my left foot neutral. Iām excited to keep playing around with the set up, though!
Hereās to more of this~ and perhaps someday graduating from the green circles.

I hope parents never stop making their little kids wear those hats with pom-poms on both sides like teddy bear ears. Brightens my day every time. The winter is dark and the winds are harsh but at least there's little ewoks toddling about.
A mom at my apartment complex crocheted her baby a beanie with a big blue pompom and attached faux hydrangea leaves to the top!!
