Hey loves! So I decided to write a bit of a review of the makeup tutorial I tried yesterday, mostly so I can keep track of things I liked and hopefully incorporate them into my other makeup looks! This tutorial is by Noodlerella on YouTube. The biggest thing I didn’t like from it was how dark (purple) she said to go with the eyebrows. I think it may have worked for her because of how tiny her eyebrows are, but I really prefer matching the base color of the wig; though in these pictures I’m noticing I could’ve done with a more intense blue. I like the underlining of the bottom lash line; I think it made my eyes look bigger, as well as the black crease line. I probably would do some kind of color on the upper lid next time just because the eyes seemed a little dull to me (I put glitter on them at the end 😆) The cutting up of the eyelashes was certainly different, and I don’t know if I’d ever do that many pieces again(4!), but I do like having bottom lashes, so I’ll need to keep playing with that. Other than that, we learned I need to own orange makeup 😆 and that I still need to learn to contour...

“Thinking of you, wherever you are...” I got DCC photos back! I’m obsessed, so here’s me crappily photoshopped into a beach. I want to re-start putting construction notes/write ups on here again, so here we go: I made this whole cosplay in 6 days. I don’t recommend that. 🙃 For the dress, I used a mostly nylon activewear fabric from Joann’s which I flatlined with a slightly thinner white activewear fabric for extra body. I draped the dress pattern myself, with princess seams that ran up through the shoulder piece, but honestly, any similar store bought pattern should work just as well if not better, I just didn’t have one on hand. 😅 once the base was done, I used it to draw out the black shoulder pieces and the pockets. The plaid was all painted by hand, vaguely following this tutorial (https://allfades.deviantart.com/art/Plaid-Fabric-Tutorial-190214116) though I recommend heat setting (with a press cloth!!!) before removing the tape; at least on the vinyl parts for the shoulders it made my lines a lot cleaner! I made the plaid strips for the skirt twice the length of the edge where I wanted to sew them so I could get a nice amount of gather. The black pleats on the other side are spaced 1.5” apart and have a pleat depth of 1”. The hood was the same one I used for my Org XIII coat, which is a pretty standard three-piece hood (you can find plenty of patterns online) And, um, yeah! I think that’s it? I’ll try to get better at doing these as I go so they’re less scatterbrained and huge, but since I know there’s a lot of hype surrounding this cosplay (KH3, Y’ALL♥️♥️♥️) I figured I’d help how I could. 🧚‍♀️Swipe for pretty lights🧚‍♀️ So for #whimsicalwednesday (I don’t think that’s a thing, but here we go) here’s my first entry for the TranspaART competition I entered a couple of years ago. I made these ridiculously heavy light up fairy wings. I loved them to bits, but they were too difficult to transport so I eventually dismantled them. The flowers and all the casings for the lights are TranspaART, which is a super cool material I recommend you try if you’re ever wanting some complex translucent shapes. A little on the late side, but I wanted to post about NDK 2017. It was a little overwhelming for me, since I haven't been to an NDK in years and it was at a different venue than the last time I went. But overall it was a fun time! I met some people who were following this project online, which was definitely an awesome and slightly weird experience for me (Thanks to all y'all that said hi!).❤️ I also won Best Intermediate Performance at the cosplay contest, which was super exciting for me, since Time Travel You had kinda been being a pain all day! Anywho, hopefully I can find more pictures of this demon of a costume to share. And lastly, to everyone who asked me how I make things, please send me questions! Y'all might've seen me tag my posts with 'YouSEWro!', and here's why. My cosplay philosophy is that if You Watanabe can sew something for Aqours, than you can sew it too! So if there's anything I can do to help with that, I'm happy to help 😊

More Time Travel You! The bodice and skirt are practically done, I just have to figure out where to stash my millions of battery packs. I'm pretty proud of where I hid the ones on the shoes; I get to dance around in glory shoes! I'm so excited, and hopefully I don't blind anyone too much with this costume! YouSEWro!

Headpiece thing is almost done! Just a few edges to clean up and it'll be ready to rumble!!! I'm starting to panic a little since we're a week out and I am not as close as I'd like to be, but wish me luck ❤️❤️❤️ YouSEWro!

Finished You's wings today! Also got a lot of things almost done, so expect another batch of pictures tomorrow! The wings are surprisingly light and completely self-contained (no wires or anything running to/from them). It's getting to be crunch time (less than 2 weeks to NDK!), so I'm really trying to plow through! YouSEWro!

I've been all about lights the last few posts, so here's something a little different; I actually have a wearable bodice now! Other vinyl details coming soon! Aaaaand, here's my .png files for the decals (I can send illustrator files on request), feel free to use them (and send me pictures!!), but mention me if someone asks about them, plz? I spent a stupid amount of time getting everything as accurate as possible 😅

More lights! All the el wire is tacked down to the petals, and some of the leds are installed; just 12 more to go... OTL ALSO: anyone have a suggestion for a song to use at a cosplay contest for this costume? Parts of the wire will be sound reactive, so something with a pretty strong beat/loud and soft would probably work best ❤️️

GUYS. We officially have sound reactive el wire!!! I was truly terrified by all the horror stories about how hard it is to solder el wire, but with the amount I wanted for this project, there was no way I could buy it pre-soldered, it would be way too expensive. But I'm having a decent success rate! On that note, DO NOT buy wire from Live Wire (elwirebestbuy.com). They cut parts of my order (making it non refundable) without having other parts of my order available (though I received an order confirmation), and without letting me decide if I still wanted it without the parts that were out of stock (I mostly wanted to avoid paying close to $20 in shipping at multiple sites). To top it off, the lady got all snippy on the phone when I told her that it wasn't okay for her to just exchange the color/size of the wire I ordered. When I told her they were essentially forcing me to pay shipping twice, since I now had to get an item they sent me an order confirmation for from another site, she said that she would 'look into' getting me a refund for the shipping and since has ignored all my calls and never gotten back to me. Fun stuff. TL;DR Live Wire customer service sucks and tell your cosplay friends to avoid them like the plague. Also, I painted the shoes while the el wire still hadn't arrived. My spreadsheet says I'm more than halfway done, and I sure hope it's right!

Another progress dump! Wings are like 80% done; just the circle doodad all the wings come out of left to do (this also happens to be where I'm planning on shoving all my batteries). Today I gave the wings some stiffness by using straws as the stick support things, which I covered in vinyl to match the color of each wing. And then, of course, came the lights, which I wired up and stuck inside some mini ping pong balls to give that diffuse glow. The headpiece I added the headphone side to, which I also hope to make light up. Unfortunately for all of these light up parts of the costumes, I'm still haven't gotten my battery holders, so I can't finalize any of the housings for them 😢 Anywho, I also finalized the skirt petal designs and have been putting my vinyl cutter to WERK. Have I mentioned that I love that shiny vinyl? YouSEWro!

Wings! I dyed some thick clear vinyl with synthetic dye, adding more dye after each one. Then I added the cutout super shiny opal-y vinyl (please send help, I'm addicted to the stuff) decals on both sides et voila! Futuristic looking wing things!
